My favorite Sweet Pea memory: my grandparents lived in Oregon and we lived in Nebraska, so I saw them very little. But, my grandma had a huge plot of nothing but sweet peas by their house. On one of our visits I asked her if I could pick some sweet peas. She replied, “Oh, yes! You can pick alllllllllllll you want!” Heaven!!

I move plants in January every year. I move miniature roses, ornamental grasses, young trees and anything else that struggled or overpowered the area they are in. I do live in Central California where our ground soil never freezes and Spring magically appears in February. I am a self taught gardener who loves the feel of the soil sifting between my fingers and the warm sun on my back as I plant a new flat of marigolds that i couldn’t resist while shopping for groceries. Jerri your videos bring me so much joy! Thank you.
I think being a self taught gardener is very satisfying. We accept our mistakes and our successes with equal enthusiasm, because we are always learning .

I would call the little guy Bobby D for duck. My husband and I stayed at a B&B in Atlanta Ga a few yrs ago. The owner was quite unique and her historic home fabulous. She introduced us to Bobby D. Who lived with her, she had adopted him from a nearby pond when he was a teenager she said. He knew his name, came when she called him. He went to bed in his cage on command and patiently waited for her to let him out each morning. It was a match made in heaven. I know your little guy will be so greatful to have a wonderful home just like Bobby D In Atlanta.

I love the larger mini-greenhouse idea! I've also used the huge clear tupperware storage bins as greenhouse domes but instead I seeded into small plastic pots, that I placed underneath the domes. And if you want to keep the mobility, keep the tupperware covers and flip them upside down and place your pots on that.

"Festus". Good name for your new duck. He was a beloved character on Gunsmoke, had a limp in his walk. I just love that name! Love the cloches along the fence. I think I will do that for peas. I had planted lots of branching sunflowers there last year. It was glorious with all the bees, but I may move them to a sunnier fence line this year. Getting my crock pot out now to make some beef stew. Yum!
I sometimes have problems with sweet peas too, but a trick I’ve found to get them started has helped. First, I soak them in water for a day and overnight, and then I wrap them in a wet paper towel. I check them every day and make sure the paper towel stays wet. Usually, within a few days, the seeds will develop. When they have some green on them, I put seed inoculant on them and plant them in pots. Hope you have good luck. There’s nothing as nice as a a bouquet of sweet peas straight from your garden!

I am the SAME way with sweet peas!!!! I absolutely LOVE them because I have precious memories of picking them in my grandmother’s garden - she always had loads of sweet peas and always had a large vase of them in the house.
Reminds me of a duck who used to winter on our pool cover & I called him Pierre. He knew his name and loved to follow me while I gardened. I miss him and his mate Annabel.

Another channel I watch (KyleTheRooster who had a yard full of all kinds of barnyard birds) has a few Sebastopol Geese. One of then also has wonky wings that stick out funny. Apparently this syndrome is called Angel Wings. So how about Gabriel (or Michael)? Archangel(s) who like your little duck are warriors/fighters! This poor little duck is such a sweet little angel that has had a hard start to life, but boy is about to let his "angel" wings spread now in your garden!!!😚🦆👼🏼 Your soup looked so delicious!!! I love homemade soup & stews so much & watching you make your made me realize that I haven't made one at all this Fall or Winter!!!😯😬 I guess I have been so busy taking care of my Mom that I just haven't had a chance, but I really need to as it is a "meal" that would last us a few days (I always make a hige batch!!!😅) Loved all of your ideas & suggestions for starting seeds, as we can't drink milk so never have the cartons that so many others I have also seen shown that method as well. I have been thinking I need to get in & start a bunch of my seeds too, but w/ my Mother's getting Dementia we may be moving this Spring to be closer to other family so I may no longer be at this home much longer. If anything, I need to start going around & start digging up any starts or plants that I want to take w/ me!😅😏

He is sure to win the hearts and minds of his fellow farms friends as he maneuvers his way through the hierarchy of the hollow. Stay tuned for what Mr. Duckington commits himself to next. Hilarity, charm and mayhem are sure to ensue when Plucky Duckington are at hand. 🦆☺️ We wish him all the best at Hopalong Hollow.

I love the larger mini-greenhouse idea! I've also used the huge clear tupperware storage bins as greenhouse domes but instead I seeded into small plastic pots, that I placed underneath the domes. And if you want to keep the mobility, keep the tupperware covers and flip them upside down and place your pots on that.

Love the cloches along the fence. I think I will do that for peas. I had planted lots of branching sunflowers there last year. It was glorious with all the bees, but I may move them to a sunnier fence line this year.

I sometimes have problems with sweet peas too, but a trick I’ve found to get them started has helped. First, I soak them in water for a day and overnight, and then I wrap them in a wet paper towel. I check them every day and make sure the paper towel stays wet. Usually, within a few days, the seeds will develop. When they have some green on them, I put seed inoculant on them and plant them in pots. Hope you have good luck. There’s nothing as nice as a a bouquet of sweet peas straight from your garden!

I am the SAME way with sweet peas!!!! I absolutely LOVE them because I have precious memories of picking them in my grandmother’s garden - she always had loads of sweet peas and always had a large vase of them in the house.

Reminds me of a duck who used to winter on our pool cover & I called him Pierre. He knew his name and loved to follow me while I gardened. I miss him and his mate Annabel.

Another channel I watch (KyleTheRooster who had a yard full of all kinds of barnyard birds) has a few Sebastopol Geese. One of then also has wonky wings that stick out funny. Apparently this syndrome is called Angel Wings. So how about Gabriel (or Michael)? Archangel(s) who like your little duck are warriors/fighters! This poor little duck is such a sweet little angel that has had a hard start to life, but boy is about to let his "angel" wings spread now in your garden!!!😚🦆👼🏼

Loved all of your ideas & suggestions for starting seeds, as we can't drink milk so never have the cartons that so many others I have also seen shown that method as well. I have been thinking I need to get in & start a bunch of my seeds too, but w/ my Mother's getting Dementia we may be moving this Spring to be closer to other family so I may no longer be at this home much longer. If anything, I need to start going around & start digging up any starts or plants that I want to take w/ me!😅😏
