    Shalom. Greetings- Mr. Walter. I've been wanting to lock my hair for
    about 15 years now, and finally got tired of everybody telling me NO! I
    am 50, and live in Atlanta, and have searched for locticians in ATL, but
    found you about a week ago. So far, it seems no one compares to your
    method of locks, honesty & explanation to customers of products,
    maintenance and plain love of what you do. Its too early to call you in
    Texas this morning. I would like to know if you will be in Atlanta
    anytime soon, or if I may speak to you on the phone in case I need to
    fly to you. Please reply. The grade of my hair may be hard to work with,
    from what I've been told by African salons, who would NOT even braid my
    hair. Turned me away right at the door. (biracial) I have confidence
    that you are the only one for my hair.

    Thank you so much Damian I found you by mistake looking on utube for dread styles. I did buy all your product and for the 2nd time since I started my dreads in 2007 I cleansed my hair and what a difference feeling but after a several times of using your product is made my scalp itch and I was washing my hair weekly, I have skin problems of my scalp and had been using head and shoulders with light suffer 8 for oil since the begining. With that being said I went to chamberlins and brought organic dandruff shampoo and conditioner. And it's feels good. But I'm in florida and I looking forward for your hands in my hair. I have been doing my own hair after 2 visit to hair salon. I didn't like them putting sprits spray in my hair after I told them I don't want it. Dries it out. I stopped twisting hard too and I don't have edges I need something to use to help me grown them back and I trust your advice. I will go to your sight with my email for your suggestion. Thank you your doing an awesome job and I tell everyone about u.

    You sound like you know about the Integumentary System of the body. Impressive. I doubt many people who do hair know the anatomy and the importance of how a healthy lifestyle can affect hairgrowth. However, I only thought Melanocytes, the cell responsible for Melanin, is only located in the root of the hair near the dermal papilla and not along the whole hair as well as in the Stratum Basale of the Epidermis. Anyways, this was quite interesting. I'm growing locs, and taking a more "natural" ( maybe a lack of a better term) approach and letting time do it's thing. Coming from an anatomical point of view. If I keep my hair healthy through diet and maintenance, they should loc eventually with time.

    Damian Walter I'm thankful to have found your videos, you are full of so much vital hair knowledge. I do have a question. I recently got coils at an African Hair braiding salon for starter locs. I had to wash and condition my own hair prior to. I shampooed three times with Paul Mitchell Shampoo and deep conditioned with their conditioner as well. To my disappointment the stylist used ecostyler gel for my coils. I was able to rinse out some of the gel but plan to wait two weeks before first shampooing them. Is this something I'm able to fix with a good clarifying shampoo treatment or will i need to start the coils over?

You should use NATURAL OIL and WATER to condition locs. regular conditioner will cause buildup and make your hair slick. same with regular shampoo. you need loc shampoo with no buildup

    Great Work! I have a serious question? I plan to return to the world of Dreadlocks early Jan of next year. Before I do, I plan to get a texturizer to make my fro bigger, (just grown my hair back 100% & noticing that some areas aren't growing....hoping that I'm hair's not receding) then wait 1, 1 1/2 or 2 weeks after getting the texturizer to get the dreads?.
    I'm asking you as a professional, should I do this? Or just get the dreads without getting the texturizer to make my from bigger (To make my hair longer. To make my starter locks longer) Please help?

    • @NehsALUMNI
      @NehsALUMNI 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Darrius Bonner Damien always advises against texturizers. Reason is because you'll have two different textures once your hair continues to grow and the stress from retwists could cause the hair to break off at the line of demarcation (place where the two different textures meet). No need for a texturizer to start locs.

    • @NehsALUMNI
      @NehsALUMNI 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Darrius Bonner plus your starter locs are gonna shrink up a little bit any way so trying to make them longer just defeats the purpose. Your hair needs to be able to revert back to its natural state in order to loc properly and a texturizer wouldn't allow your locs to do that.

    Enjoy watching your videos and instagram page. It helped me better prepare for my starter locs yesterday! I was able to be involved with the process and yes she double shampooed and conditioned. What are all the oils you would recommend for itchy scalp? My scalp is greedy and I don't want anything to heavy. I sweat a lot due to my being a collegiate athlete and working out or competing 6-7 days a week 4-6 hours per day. I am worried about the sweat build up causing my starters to smell. Any recommendations? I drink tons of water, 2-4 gallons a day to be specific.

    Hello +Damian Walter, I wanna try locs, I have very soft fine damaged hair..I did the big💇cut three years ago..Since my hair has grown out, I've been wearing ponytails, getting kinky twist, and crochet braids. The last time I got crochet braids, and took them down after 4weeks, my edges said find me..What can I use to help my hair become healthy, and strong enough to get Locs or some type of braids?? I'm afraid to put any type of tension on my already weak, soft, fine hair..ALSO I 💇CUT ALL THE RELAXED HAIR OFF THREE YEARS AGO, BUT MY HAIR STILL DOESN'T SEEM LIKE IT HAS RETURNED TO IT'S NATURAL STATE, MEANING YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS VERY YOUNG I COULD WET MY HAIR AND PAT IT DOWN TO A VERY SHORT AFRO, NOW WHEN I WET MY HAIR IT HAS THIS CRINKLY PATTERN TO IT, I CAN PUT GEL ON IT, AND BRUSH IT AND MAKE IT STRAIGHT AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S RELAXED..HOWEVER I CAN'T PAT IT DOWN TO A SMALL AFRO ANYMORE, EVEN THOUGH IT'S ABOUT THE SAME LENGTH IT WAS WHEN I WAS YOUNG, MMMM ABOUT TEN INCHES.. ITS LIKE I DON'T RECOGNIZE MY HAIR ANY MORE.. PLEASE HELP!! 😞 Thanks in advance and forgive me for being so long winded.🙊

One even told me that it was their patent pending formula 🤔

    How often should you use clarifying shampoo? Is that the only kind of shampoo you should use on your locs?

    If i got the dreadlocks without the texturizer, the dreads will be woop sided, meaning shorter on one side, longer on other parts of my head. This has happened years back, & that's the biggest reason why I chose to take them out.....this was 4, 5 yrs ago?. Since then, I've had all other types of hairstyles & my hair grown back to the Afro stages (8, 9 months). Are you saying that I should get my hair trimmed so the dreads would be even?

    I recently watched your vid about palm role vs interlocking. I am considering going from palm role to interlocking for several reasons but I do not know if my hair is ready for it. I've had my locks for about a year or two and I've been palm rolling it but here comes the crazy part that really makes me skeptical. One lady I went to fused together two locks; when palm rolling she took the new growth roots form two different locks and put them together! I was so confused!! Now I have some locks that look like one at the root and split into two. I need allot of help... I am considering just starting over... my hair looks fine but feels bad.

    thank you...for the video I can't travel to you but my hair is about two years in growth and to me it look like it has stop growing I have color on the end like my tips lately I've been stressed soo to say now I'm experiencing some breakage only on my bleached tips. ohh and I have those little hair bumps in my locs I do not like them some with light dirt (how can I remove that) and I'm not going to retwist my hair till March just let it me and just shampoo & condition it every other 2 weeks since its winter and my locs with out color are thicker and stronger than the colored ones just a lil information about my hair and no one dose it but myself are the person who started my locs thanks a lot😘

    Very informative. Any advice for someone who is extremely protein sensitive? I've only been using jbco and water to retwist. I spray my hair with water maybe three-four times a week and seal with a very small amount of the jbco. It's the only oil that my hair responds to positively and trust me after 12 years of being natural before loc'n I've tried them all. I can not use products with protein in them. My hair becomes very brittle and sahara desert dry. Any advice to make sure my locs stay healthy? Also I drink about a gallon of water a day.

    Hello Damian, Can you start your locs off has braidlocs then interlock every 3 months? Palm rolling would not work for me I need to wash my hair more frequently due to my scalp. To wait 3 weeks to wash my hair would be devastating but I am ready for locs.
