- Lexus LFA in a drag race! Regardless of the result this will be music to your ears with one of the best sounding drag races in history, with two naturally aspirated V10 cars.
The Audi R8 V10 Spyder. 5.2L V10 producing 620hp, the R8 can do the 0 to 62mph time in 3.2seconds and has a top speed of 204 mph.
The Lexus LFA has a 4.8 litre V10 with 560 horsepower and 0-62mph takes 3.8 seconds.

Audi’s have a slight delay from when you lift off the brake to them actually moving. Carwow have had similar starts when they race Audi’s

@@lovecarsTV So the Audi R8 would of never seen the tail lights of the Lfa if it was launched at least a bit better. That 0-62 time was affected so badly.
Take the lfa any day, just look at it. It lost mainly due to its slower gearbox.

I would personally move the LFA ahead of the Carrera GT and put the Murcielago SV in between the LFA and Carrera GT. But that’s just my opinion🙂

@@dezavite need to keep in mind that this car and the engine started its development in the early 2000s. And from that time until they started production, transmission technology hasn’t really improved by much. The car started in the sketchbooks when we were pretty much still using nokias that was pretty much sms and calls only.

@@calindor19 The LFA broke the nurburgring lap record for a production car when it was released. It was faster on the track than any Zonda, McLaren, Lambo, Porsche or Ferrari built before it.

There is a very high ratio of intro to actual content here...the content bit is great but perhaps a cut down intro for these shorter videos might be in order. Either that or a few extra bits- another 5 mins of just the LFA driving around would make many of us very happy I'm sure!
@lovecars this particular LFA used to belong to me in Singapore before I sold it to a mate in the UK. Those wheels are the original BBS RE LFA Nurburgring spec wheels that I went through hell to acquire.... but the car still looks so utterly gorgeous! So happy to see it’s being used in the way it’s designers intended...flat out. Selling this car remains one of the biggest regrets in my life. But I’m overjoyed to see that she’s leading a good and fruitful life in England. More content like this please and have Tiff do a proper review of the LFA....one of the most unique and fabulous supercars ever created 🥂👍

The whole point is that they're not scientific. There's about a thousand channels out there doing properly timed drag races (and honestly Carwow is messy by most standards, but I still like them too).
Could do with more of the sound though, 100% agreed on that.

Awful launch from the R8 driver!
It was very slippery and a poor surface (we had to swap runways on the day), and the launch control couldn't cope. Only had one run against the LFA so that's the one we used, but the whole point of the show was what happens in the real world not just perfect conditions, and sometimes you get terrible launches! 😂

No matter how fast or slow, I’d take LFA sound anytime if I could afford. For me the only competitive cars of LFA in sound are MC12 corsa, Zonda Revolution or carrera gt. Too bad can’t afford any of them.
Bad driver on the R8. It can do 0-60 in less that 3 seconds easily. Better sounding too. We never heard the LFA on the video.

When I acquired a Ferrari F430, I already knew there were faster cars for less money. What those cars didn’t have however was; the sound, the style, and the x-factor. The LFA has the sound and x-factor.

I don't know if it was intentional or pure coincidence but I thought it was cool that when we first saw the LFA there was a "L"ow "F"lying "A"ircraft going by at that exact moment??? I think you should do a best of three as I think the result might have been different on another couple of runs?
We got the shot so used it, but hadn’t considered the reference so thanks for pointing it out! The concept of our drag races is to show the result of a single run. We know the results can change, people can make mistakes etc etc, that is part of the ‘real world’ concept!
It's all about the sound. It just is. Doesn't matter if the 0-60 time is under a second.
Sound certainly gives the drama and heightens the enjoyment!

I think you should do these drag races as a best of 3. First with launch control (on vehicles that have it), second with no launch control, and third is driver choice. Would make the videos a bit longer and make it a bit more interesting to see the differences with/without launch control!
