    Wow this is incredible! Stupid question but in the beginning when you laid down the first track how did you get your guitar to sound so quiet and muffled ? Were you palm muting or you able to quiet the guitar using an audio interface while editing ? All my acoustic guitars come across so loud and twangy when I record .. granted I just record on my iPhone but you have everything sounding perfect ! Well done 👍

    • @ulriksmusicacousticcoversa2678
      @ulriksmusicacousticcoversa2678  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you mate, I’m glad you like it 😊 That’s not a stupid question, its a combination of palm muting and lifting my left hand just a little bit off the strings right after picking. And then quickly back again for the next pick. That way you can make the sound short and precise. You’ll get the feeling right after some practise 👍✨
      The guitar is recorded with two microphones and run through a compressor, which will help you get rid of the loud noisy sounds. then through an eq and finally some reverb. The looped guitar groove also has some delay from the loopstation. I like it, cause the delay is in sync with the tempo of the loop.
      iPhone recording will most likely be a little harsh I think 😏 Good for demos and practising though

    Amazing cover man, I'm just starting off on a looping journey 😂, any tips for getting your kicks and percussion in general to sound so sweet and punchy? Mine doesn't stand out in the mix as well as yours, Im using a boss gt100 for effects and a rc30 for looping
    Any advice would be much appreciated

    • @ulriksmusicacousticcoversa2678
      @ulriksmusicacousticcoversa2678  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks a lot 😊👍 Well first of all you should find the “sweet spot” as to where you hit the guitar for the desired sounds. Some spots on my guitar will sound more boomy than others.
      Then I would suggest that you send the guitar to your looper before going through other effect like reverb and so on.
      In my setup, the looper goes to its own channel. And the guitar goes to its own as well as my vocal. This way you can mix each sound seperately, which is really important for making a good sound for each instrument.
      There should be a way to choose how the signals and outputs are arranged. On my rc-300 I set it up to only send the loops to “sub out”. This then goes to its own mixer channel. The guitar is coming through the rc-300 on the main out amd to its own mixer channel.
      On these recordings I use some compression, eq and maybe short reverbs on the loop beat when mixing. The looper has a nice delay feature which follows the song tempo. I think it is on for some of the guitar parts in Viva la vida, clearly in the first part where I record the bass part. Hope you can use some of this 🤟🏼😎

      @@ulriksmusicacousticcoversa2678 I'm still cursing the day my friend advised me to get in to music production, it will be fun he said! 😂 He didn't mention learning about equalisation/compression/mixing and mastering 😂
      Jokes aside, I'm enjoying the journey, and I've came along way, but my end goal still feels far away, but I'll get there one day, and I will absolutely use some of that info and try and implement it into my set up, thanks for taking the time to respond man, much appreciated, have a wonderful day!

  • @jianan
    @jianan 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    incredible performance! I'm so inspired. May I ask a question. When the chord progression is different in verse and chorus, how do you usually arrange the song to make the transition smooth? Especially when you want to build up energy from verse into chorus. Thank you!

    • @ulriksmusicacousticcoversa2678
      @ulriksmusicacousticcoversa2678  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey and thanks 🙏✨ I often keep the main beat in track 1 on my looper. Something that works for the whole song. Track 2 could be some notes that can keep going during the whole song or maybe just the verse. Or some extra rhytmic parts, to kick on and off.
      If the chorus is a different chord progression, so that loop 2 wont fit, then I would make a loop on track 3 and kick it on in the chorus 👌🏼✨

    What a great cover! Can you please share with us your rig? Why are there two microphones? Is the SM57 wired to the TC? is it mixed? Do you add FX to it (to make the shaker tone)? Was the TC used for harmonies?

    • @ulriksmusicacousticcoversa2678
      @ulriksmusicacousticcoversa2678  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thx a lot 👍 Maybe I should do a video on how I set up my stuff. But until then..; The upper mic (Shure Beta 57A) is my vocal mic, it goes through the TC (for harmonies if I want) to its own mixer channel for comp, eq, reverb.
      The lower mic is for the looping sounds I do, hihats and the shhhh sound.. It goes through the loopstation.
      The rc-300 has an input control for both guitar and mic, so I can make the mix between the loop mic and the guitar loops as I like. There is a nice delay feature in the rc-300, which I assigned for the loop fx button. The delay matches the tempo of the loop. You hear this in the baseline of my Viva la vida cover. And its also used when I make the sssshhh sounds 😏
      The harmonies for this cover is not the TC, but is recorded to a track on the loopstation a couple of times.
      I use the harmonies on the TC in another cover of mine, Memories, go check it out if you like 😉✨
