Hang in there brother im going through the same thing. I didnt realize I turned into such an asshole. I grabbed a bible and read the book of Hosea, if he can forgive all that we can forgive our wives for leaving. Plus we would have never found ourselves if they didnt. Besides you never know she may come back better. Hang in there. Stay strong. You are not alone.

Reminds me of times I use to have with my wife and children, after it was all gone.... Well there was nothing more to live for. Come to find out there still something to live for "Felicia Hernandez" and my children that still try hard to learn how live without their mother! Christal Rose Thompson was born Oct 14, 1981 she died Dec. 27, 2023. She was a dedicated mother and always put her children before herself..... Much love Chris.....

It's painful how much this song was me late last year. Wife walked out on me in September and I found a turn table and receiver at a flea market when I was just trying to get out of the house for an afternoon and really got into vinyl. My collection is hardly a "3 foot stack" but it's not bad for a few months.
Good news is it's looking like I've found someone who will give me the time of day like I deserved and am moving on just fine now-a-days. All that's left is for her to get the hell out of "my hometown" and all will be right with my world.

Good luck buddy. I'm 2 years removed from the same deal. I immersed myself into my iPod as I recovered so it's relatable to for me as well. Don't look back over your shoulder and enjoy the future. All the best to you.

    • @milesj.943
      @milesj.943 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

+Shane Bowman I really appreciate the kind words friend. There's no way in hell I would look over my shoulder. I simply want nothing to do with her. I had the foresight enough to get my own help during the ordeal, I think had I not done that I would still be in a world of hurt, but when I was ready to accept the divorce, there was already no looking back for me, I was already over trying to be with someone who wanted nothing to do with me.
It wasn't the easiest route to go, but I got a whole heap of perspective and I learned more about myself and what I can actually deal with as cheesy as that sounds, but it's true.
Luckily, like I said, I've traded in for a younger more "sporty" model and she actually seems to care and be genuinely interested in me. Here's to hoping!
      Thanks again man.

When I was 15, my life was not great. I had generally good parents but they weren't and still aren't the most understanding people in the world. A lot of aspects of my life was hell. I discovered a lot of country music around that time and as I got older, I got more into the classics. The old stuff that spoke to me. Such as Red Headed Stranger and such. I am only 18 now, but the bonds I have created with those around me have become special to me. On my 18th birthday, I went to Texas to visit my grandfather (I live in Michigan) and the amount of texts I got from those who care about me wishing me a happy birthday was crazy. It made me realize how far I had come. And now here I am, getting married in two years to the love of my life. Music helps me. Music makes me the person I am today. Music makes me love harder and cry harder. One day, I want to sing on the Opry stage. I want to sing about life. About love. About heartache. About what makes music great.

I remember first hearing this song towards the end of 2015. My fiancé who I had spent 9 years with had left me in January of that year for a coworker of hers and I had no clue how to cope. I spent 9 plus months getting drunk and high every day to numb the pain. I eventually met my now wife in March 2016 & and she stuck with me while I sorted shit out. I can still have a drink or two but I’ve been clean for 6 years 10 months & 1 day thanks to her. This song was the sight that taught me it would be ok and when I met my now wife I knew it to be true. Even though it reminds me of sad times I still love this song because it’s a symbol for how strong a humans will can be to overcome even the worst situations possible.

"I usually make it thru Side A sober,
all bets are off when I flip her over,
one bourbon, one scotch, one beer...
    I'm having a record year"
Out-fuckin'-standing lyrics! Church hits home, and hard. Beautiful song that conjures up endless memories of years and experiences past. Nice to see that some of today's country stars adhere to the Old School way of songwriting and presentation, as opposed to the "Hick Hop" so prevalent in what's passed off as today's "Country music".
Side note: I see many people on the board here crying about Metallica records being "ruined" for this video. How about acknowledging Eric's nod to George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers as well as Willie Nelson!

I don't see him as a cash. Cash had a big personality and Church is kinda quiet and doesn't seem like all that outgoing. I see him more as a kris kristofferson kinda guy. Him and Kris both write the best songs for their generation of country music

@@Spotterboy567 I implore you to look up Kris Kristofferson and Chris LeDoux. Chief is definitely a student of those two fellas. Johhny was loud, quick to fight, and larger than life. Eric has that quiet, cool confidence that oozes out of guys like Kristofferson and LeDoux.

Eric Church is probably the last country artist from the mid 2000s that hasn't sold out. Eric is by far my favorite, but it makes me sad that all the others have sold out. It sucks Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, and Dierks Bentley all of them used to be great. All of their first albums were awesome. Jason's first three albums could go head to head with some of Eric's. And Luke Bryan has one of my favorite songs of all time "What Country Is". Just a shame! But the Chief is still the Chief. Eric is the last of a dying breed.

Since you turned the tables on me
I've been steady and learnin' lonely
    Keepin' this turntable spinnin'
    Everything from Jones to Jennings
    Slowly plannin' my survival
In a three foot stack of vinyl
Since you had to walk on outta here
I've been havin' a record year
I bet you thought before you left
I'd just sit in silence by myself
Turn this house into a jail
Dyin' slow in a livin' hell
But love's got a funny way of keepin' score
And your leavin' lit up my scoreboard
I usually make it through side a sober
All bets are off when I flip her over
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
    I'm havin' a record year
Quarter notes and Hank's half time
Are poundin' on this heart of mine
Song to song, I pass my time
    With these speakers on ten
Your good and gone keeps me up all night
Along with Songs In The Key Of Life
I'm either gonna get over you
Or I'm gonna blow out my ears
    Yeah, you're out there now
Doin' God knows how, and I'm stuck here
    Havin' a record year
Your leavin' left me goin' crazy
I'm countin' on a needle to save me
I drop it in the groove
And we go 'round and 'round
    And down in a spiral
I guess I really oughta call and thank you
    I rediscovered Red Headed Stranger
Got down with old James Brown
    And found New Grass Revival
If you find your way back, I owe you a beer
    For my record year
Quarter notes and Hank's half time
Are poundin' on this heart of mine
Song to song, I pass my time
    With these speakers on ten
Your good and gone keeps me up all night
Along with Songs In The Key Of Life
I'm either gonna get over you
Or I'm gonna blow out my ears
    Yeah, you're out there now

this song was my life i admit that! this song was the old me until i found my woman keyana! i now have been with her for 4 years, and we have 1 baby boy he is now 16 months! he is the reason i quit doing hard drugs! we are buying our first house so our son wont have to struggle like we did growing up! i hope that and love are enough to keep him off of drugs and not follow my footsteps

Just passed a year after my ex left me. Don't really know what I need, but I know I don't need her anymore. It's been a roller coaster ride and I finally feel like I'm coming off the last hill. Been in some pretty dark places, but luckily I have a melody to ring the room with a dim light.

Worlds best underrated song in country music right now. Right behind Mind Reader.

I routinely come back to this song after a break up. Its got the perfect mixed of bittersweetness and hopefulness. I need that.

DId Eric Church live his songs? Or is he simply an entertainer with a gift? I am a recovering drug addict, and continual drinker, and a lot of his songs sound like you'd have to live it to know it.

I just realized that the record bar went along with the sound waves of the song, so damn clever.

The records symbolizes the sound waves. Very cool.

"loves got a funny way of keeping score, and your leaving lit up my score board" is one of the most beautiful lines I've heard from any recent country song. can't stop listening.
