Well.. now I'm crying. This was my grandfather. To a T. He raised me and taught me how to hunt and fish and all about the Lord. I was only 13 when he passed. Here I am now at 30 needing him more and more every day
Saw Ashley for the 1st time several years ago. She was the opening act for The Marshall Tucker Band at a little venue in Paducah, KY. This girl was having a seriously rough day, her bus broke down on the way to the show. So she got a rental car, grabbed her guitar and drove onto the show alone. She made it to the show, on stage, just her and her guitar, NO other band members, NO other instruments. Let me tell you SHE KICKED ASS! I was blown away! That girl hit a Home Run!! Since that moment I have been a fan. Seen her perform several times since and she never fails. She is a true professional, she's made of some pretty good stuff. Get to know her and her music, she's going to be around for a long time!
Yes! I first saw Eric open for Brad Paisley. I'm not sure why, but I think it was a "surprise" and he wasn't scheduled. Brad being the jokester that he is, introduced him as Dierks Bentley. (Which was very disappointing for my friend at the time because she was a huge Dierks fan.) The only song we knew of Eric's was "How 'Bout You." He had just hit the radio. I remember him playing a bunch of songs from his first album, and before every one, he told a story about how/why it was written. When his set was done, I went to the merch booth and bought his album. When the concert was over, I wrote an e-mail to my brother up north and said, "Eric Church. Go buy his album. Don't ask questions. Don't pass 'Go' or collect $200. Buy it now!" Since then, we've seen him live over 30 times. We've actually met him a few times as well. Telling stories about songs that the audience doesn't know is a genius move. It really makes you want to listen to the song, even if you've never heard it before. Eric majored in marketing in college. He's good enough that he'd be fine without that degree, but you can just tell that he knows what he's doing when it comes to being a performer. BTW I had front row seats to see him at Madison Square Garden a few weeks ago. Best show I've ever seen. I was bummed that Joanna Cotten had COVID, but Ashley McBryde was her replacement. I was so excited to see her! It was perfect.
That song reminds me of my girls Dad!!! He was the most amazing man I’ve ever known! We dated for 2 yrs before we got married in November of 1972 and stayed married for 34 yrs before the Lord took him home in 2007. Have you ever loved someone so much that 14 yrs later after he passed you still love him that much??? We bought our first home when our firstborn daughter was 6 months old and 45 yrs later I’m still in that old house!!! He was a Marine that spent 2 tours in Vietnam and he was the kindest, most gentle man I’ve ever known!!! Don’t have any regrets and love the one you’re with!!!! That love can be taken away in a matter of months or seconds!!! Love you all for listening to me!!!!! 😘😘😘
God Bless you ma'am. I ask God to help you finish this race and be crowned by our Savior, Christ Jesus Almighty. You'll be reunited with your husband in the New Jerusalem in God's presence.
❤❤❤@Lunzie: I’m 77. My husb. & I were also married 11/72. The man in the song also reminds me of him. He passed 7/16/2021 after 48+ yrs. of marriage😢. This wk. has been especially hard, I miss him dearly. God Bless you & your family!

My old man turned 60 this year, tough as nails. Taught me a lot, how to hunt, fish, swing a hammer, turn a wrench and love God. He made me who I am today. Always been there for me and my biggest supporter. Glad to still have him around. Love this song.

Ashley McBryde is from Northeast Arkansas like I am. I heard her first back in 2011 at the Brickhouse and I bought her album then. Ashley, you make Arkansas proud. This was so beautiful. I dedicate this masterpiece to my husband and father to our beautiful children, whom we lost in a tragic accident 5 years ago. This is perfect. Forever missed and forever loved David Eugene Lincecum Sr....always.
As I was driving home today, I heard this girl's song "A little dive bar" on the radio and had to look her up. This is the 2nd video I've seen of her, but man....where has she been hiding? One of the BEST VOICES I've heard in a long time! Amazing..
I'm so excited to see this. I met Ashley at a show she did with a friend of mine and my boyfriend's. she sang this that night at a little bar in Nashville and not only her voice but this song gave me alot emotions and I cried through the whole thing. I've been listening to her ever since. now she's onstage with my favorite artist and I'm just so excited to see this. such a beautiful woman and so talented!!!
This song reminds me of my grandpa because he was an old regular Baptist preacher that owned his own business. He had a full service gas station with a two car bay with lifts on both sides. I was born the same year that he built his last service station. He owned three. Only one at a time. The highway took two of them out in the 60s so he built the last one in 1970 I was raised up right and wouldn’t take nothing on earth for the time and lessons learned from him and mammaw. I met so many people and I heard them talk about the people who stopped in for gas, oil, tires, batteries and anything and everything for a car. Brakes and belts to wipers and wash your windows for free. You can’t find one like it anywhere I know of. The service station is still there and still open. Ran bye his youngest son. He doesn’t sell gas but he will sell you used tires for the price of a new one. He didn’t follow his father’s footsteps because he charges people for air in their tires and water for their radiator. My granddaddy gave more away than my uncle ever had or will had. I heard people ask my grandfather how he made any money 💰 because he gave every child that came in his business a free pop and their choice of candy bars or peanuts. I saw the lords work every day I was there because he wouldn’t turn anyone away for credit and would give lots of things away. The lord blessed him for doing his work. It’s hard to believe it but I saw what God’s work is and the rewards he gives his servants. I learned more there than I did in school. I couldn’t wait to get out of school so I could go help him from 1 pm until closing time. He actually made millions of dollars in the 30 plus years he ran his own business. Bye the way. He got his start from the 10 thousand dollars my dad received for getting blown up with dynamite at the age of 17. The year that happened was 1957. He bought a new 1958 Chevy. He couldn’t find a new 57 but he did eventually find one and bought it. I’ve been told it was the sharpest 57 Chevy in Pike or Floyd county Ky. It was a convertible!!!! 10 thousand dollars in 1957 was equivalent to at least 100 thousand or more. Because you could buy three new 57 Chevys and today 10 thousand dollars would only pay a 10 % down payment. Do it was really like more than 100grand. He bought a new 58 Chevy and put his dad in business. He stocked his service station with oil batteries and filled the tanks full of gas. From that day on my grandfather never borrowed any money and he had between 50-100 credit paying customers that payed one time a month. When the gas shortage hit in the 70s. He never ran out of gas and sold everyone all they wanted. He payed cash for everything. I remember when the trucks would come to fill the tanks. He had the cash in his shirt pocket to pay for 100s of gallons of gas. I could go on for days but I’ve already said enough! Except one thing. His name was Luther Maddison Conn. His wife was Norma Lee Wilburn Conn. My dad’s name was Paul T. Conn. He owned two eighteen wheelers and drove one with only one eye. Until the CDL license came along and I was there to take his place. I was grandfathered in. Only had to take a written test.
This is the first time I've ever heard her. She's great!! I'm now a fan!! They just don't make em like that no more. Real raw talent from a very real lady.
Hi How are you doing?hope you’re fine? I’m Micheal Patrick and am from Nashville Tn .Where are you from? seem like you’re a real country woman.Nice meeting you .
Reminds me of my grandpa. We always headed to the lake or the woods. That was our holiday tradition. The day he passed is the day holidays ended for me.

Hope she makes it so big the whole world knows her name. A real person with what seems like a heart of gold. Love her music and happy for all her success. Hang in there girl you got the world at. Your feet. Sherry cline
Thank God someone else keeping true country music alive!!! I get so tired of the "pop country" sound. I am ok with some of it, but I grew up in a time where singers like Dolly, Red Sovine, Skeeter Davis, George Jones and the like filled the sounds of my room. Thank you Eric Church for introducing Ashley McBryde! Thank you Ashley for keeping Country Music REAL! Forever a fan!
+Sherri Thourot Listen to some of these artists Mo Pitney, Chris Janson, Jon Pardi, William Michael Morgan, Aaron Watson, Jordan Ranger and there's a lot more

Omg!! Absolutely beautiful.....I cried. Reminds me of my Daddy. His bible, gum and guitar were always with him. He passed them all down to me just before he lost his battle to cancer. I felt like you were telling my story about what my Daddy was to me. 💜

Im crying thinking of my Grandpa whos passed and my father who just turned 60. They really don't make em like that no more. It hurts thinking about it.
Brilliant songwriter. The emotion she evokes. The picture she paints. The ease with which she delivers those gorgeous raspy notes. She has quickly become my favorite artist out there right now. I hope Nashville truly appreciates the treasure they have in her and treat this one right.
If this doesn't put you in tears, check to make sure you still have a pulse!! This right here!! Woooo!! Kill it Girl!! No other version touches ur heart pouring out on that stage 🙌❤️🥹❤️

Ashly has a really clear singing voice This was what she was born to do She just getting started with these story telling songs and I'm sure there are a lot more to come Singing about the real life I know alot of people that can relate to this one
Ashley McBride is one of the most powerful and intimate songwriters out there. Blows me away every time. She had me in the first few seconds of Little Dive Bar and Dalonegha and she has moved me and been a songwriting role model ever since..
I miss my dad he's looking down on me I know that he and my mom will welcome me home there in heaven when my time comes. I thank god I was raised old fashion country.
" Saw through a Lie ....like an old screen door .....". What a truthful lyric right there.....and doesn't it resonate in this world more than ever? Great song Ashley McBryde 😎❤️

The way he said, "Told ya." He was so proud of her, so genuine. I'm still crying 😭 😂
To this day I don't know why this woman is not played on every radio station across North America. Her music is A1 and true country
She's white and conservative.....
Because radio doesn't play real country anymore! They play country pop
YES!
She won’t get played because she’s real country. She’s bit the country-pop that gets played on the radio.

Love how she actually tells a story with her music, as does Eric, not many like them anymore.

My dad passed this is exactly the song I would want to describe him. My goal as father is to pass this on to my kids.
Do you care for a business proposal?
Old school country, pure talent.
+Sherri Thourot Listen to some of these artists Mo Pitney, Chris Janson, Jon Pardi, William Michael Morgan, Aaron Watson, Jordan Ranger and there's a lot more
One of the best , purest country songs I've ever heard !! 💓💕
I wish I could like this a million times. Just got recommended Ms. McBryde boy am I glad I did. I thought real music was dead. Great lyrics.
Lyrics
He had a Southern drawl like a redbone hound
And every song he sang was my favorite sound
He'd be the last one off if the ship went down
The kind of man it feels good to be around
The kind of man it feels good to be around
He had hair as white as a cotton field
And he could spin you a story like a wagon wheel
He never went nowhere without a rod-n-reel
Lord, I miss that man, and I always will
I miss that man, and I always will
He'd see through a lie like an old screen door
He taught me how to hunt and how to love the Lord
He carried a Bible and a .44
And they just don't make 'em like that no more
He said, "Take what you've got and do the best you can"
The best thing you'll ever own is a piece of land
Ya'll, he knew his like the back of his hand
He was something else, my old man
He was something else, my old man
He'd see through a lie like an old screen door
He taught me how to hunt and how to love the Lord
He carried a Bible and a .44
And they just don't make 'em like that no more
I saw him strum this thing every chance he could
And he left it to me like he said he would
And if you ask me why it sounds so good
It's cause I'm holding more than strings and wood
I'm holding more than strings and wood
He'd see through a lie like an old screen door
He taught me how to hunt and how to love the Lord
He carried a Bible and a .44
And they just don't make 'em like that no more
No, they just don't make 'em like that no more............
Simplemente BELLO.............
Omg!! Absolutely beautiful.....I cried. Reminds me of my Daddy. His bible, gum and guitar were always with him. He passed them all down to me just before he lost his battle to cancer. I felt like you were telling my story about what my Daddy was to me. 💜

Hello, how are you
Brilliant songwriter. The emotion she evokes. The picture she paints. The ease with which she delivers those gorgeous raspy notes. She has quickly become my favorite artist out there right now. I hope Nashville truly appreciates the treasure they have in her and treat this one right.
If there was never a song to make me feel so close to my father this one definitely did it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wow!!!!!They brought the Church to their feet. Excellent song and sang very well by Ashley & Eric. If it didn't touch ya you can't be touched.
