@@ElizabethStHilaire I dearly love your style. Your videos always share a unique idea with excellent editing, clear and explicit directions, explanations for your choices, and close ups. My heart leaps when you post a new video.
That was a great tutorial! I am always amazed that when I think you have lost the best print by adding more layers, it always turns out even better in the end. I have to get braver about adding more layers even when I kind of like what I already have. Thank you!

Well, THAT was FUN! And aren't you gorgeous in your turquoise jewelry and nails? 😊 Thank you for this wonderful inspiration, Elizabeth. I love it! I broke my left arm and sprained my right (dominant) hand & wrist. It has been weeks since I have been able to paint or use a brayer. It has been enormously frustrating for me. But the other day, I got brave. I wanted to gel print SO badly; it is my joy. So, I took Advil and hoped for the best 😊 It was totally worth having to ice for an hour after 😁 I got back a wee bit of my mojo and it made me very happy. I was excited to see this new vid from you. Love the colour combo! Thank you so much, my dear. So blessed and pleased that you are in the world ❤ Have a lovely vacation & be safe! Love & Bless xo
Why thank you Lindsey! Oh my goodness I hope you fell better soon and I am sure glad you got a little bit of gel printing in! Soon you’ll be on the mend I’m sure
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for your great video. I had just ordered and received the 12x18 pad because another artist had recommended this paper. It is very smooth on the top - almost feels a bit waxy - and more textured on the bottom. You mentioned that this pad was different from the 9x12 but mine does seem like it is sized on the top. I will order the 9x12 but wanted to get your thoughts on what I already have. Thanks so much!
So much fun. When the video first came on I said 'Oh, look at her nails" Just beautiful, you are always dressed so artfully! Question for you - does that particular 9x12 rice paper flatten out once dry? I'm planning to order some. Have a great vacation. Your content on YT is a favorite, love your style, information and tips, ideas, and demos!
I never never paint my nails. LOL they were a mess on day one. BUT it was fun for a little while. Yes the paper flattens when dry. Since I tear mine up for collage I do not worry about super flat so much but yes it does. it's really great paper. So my vacation was great and we had a wonderful time. I almost didn't know what to do with so much free time. LOL Thanks so much for your compliments Kathy!
I loved the final print. I've never been able to just pull the paint off my brayer. The last time I tried to clean one of my brayers, it took me four days to get it clean. I was sorry I ever started, and then I had the problem of how to dispose of the dissolved paint which was still partly solid.
Acrylic paint will not dissolve under any circumstances, it’s polymer based. If you have a Speedball deluxe brayer the paint peels right off especially once loosened by soaking.
@@ElizabethStHilaire Thanks. They weren't solid enough for that. I soaked the brayer in alcohol and I had used a lot of metallics, which seemed particularly stubborn and weren't coming off. It ended up coming off in like a stringy gooey mess, which I ended up flushing. I didn't feel good about flushing it. I think I should have put it in a container, liquid and all, and then put it in the trash. I'll know better next time.
@@teribroberg1719 your best bet is to let it dry out, and throw it in the trash as a solid. I would never recommend soaking it in alcohol, because disposing of alcohol is an environmental mess. Try soaking it in Murphy’s oil soap. And peeling it off, and throwing it away as a solid. Also I hope that you are working with a Speedball deluxe brayer so that this is an option. Cheaper, economical brayers, do not allow for this.
@@ElizabethStHilaire Yes, I'm using Speedball brayers. I also think that I complicated matters by using cheap paints and adding various liquid mediums to try to extend open times as my paints kept drying up too quickly and I was having limited success pulling prints. Which is why I'm going to take your course and follow your method exactly from now on. With my freshly cleaned brayer, and several new ones.

This is my favorite pad, I don’t use anything else. Rice paper comes in many different weights, so I’m not sure what you have

Throw the paint solids in the trash.

what do you do with the art that you create with your gel press?
I am a collage artist, I tear the paper into pieces and create paintings with them: www.paperpaintings.com
I loved the idea, but I would have worked from dark to light
You cannot work that way with translucent color.
