I’ve had a replacement boot badge in the glove box for 2 years! Been too scared to try and get the old one off but I’ll try your advice and aim to get it on! Thankyou 😊

Thanks - I followed your instructions/tips and did this on my daughters mini cooper r56 yesterday - although I actually taped right up to the very edges of the old badge before cutting. The cheap AUD$15 replacement mini badge although the correct size required a little careful bending to get the correct horizontal curvature before I applied it though. The single strand of fine picture wire I used did not scratch/touch ANY paint work at all - amazing! With the correct pressure the wire cuts like butter between the old plastic badge and the old adhesive - it never actually touches the paintwork. I used eucalyptus oil to clean up the old adhesive followed by sugar soap. I'm considering running a thin bead of silicone under the top of the badge so no water gets into the small 2 body holes remaining under the badge.

That was one terrifying video. I cannot believe that your car did not get scratched using wiring. That said, it looked like it worked out for you. As an aside, you'd think that Mini would be able to make a bonnet badge that does not fade and look like hell in a few years.

It’s a good idea to squirt some WD40 behind the badge a couple of days before removal to help soften the glue….
