  • In this video I'll be unboxing, setting up and testing the Monport GI60 Fiber Laser. This is a 60 watt JPT MOPA Laser which puts out a powerful 1064nm wavelength laser beam. It features an F-Theta 200mm lens, Electric Z-lifter, super fast speeds, and much more. This fiber laser can easily engrave, mark and cut metal along with the capability of deep engraving. After testing this machine on various metals I can honestly say that it is by far the best laser I have used for metal and extremely easy to use. It comes with EZCad2 but if you prefer to use Lightburn it is compatible with that as well. Stay tuned for upcoming videos which will show exactly the settings I used for deep engraving along with engraving perfect photos. Hey everyone, this GI60 Fiber laser by Monport is absolutely awesome! After further testing this machine, it creates some amazing deep engravings which I’ll be showing in an upcoming video. I’ll also go into all of the settings I use for photo engraving too since there’s just too much to cover in 1 video. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll try and help out as much as possible. Have a great rest of the week and I’ll see you all in the next one. 👍🏻

    I bought this machine last September, haven't put together a review video yet but on the whole I've been really impressed with it. Don't care for the up/down or power buttons because they're too small and it shipped with a bad button but other than that relatively minor complaint this machine has been great. The price has also come down $500 since I bought it, but even at the higher price it's a great value. Their customer service has been great too. A quick word of caution, if you're going to buy a different lens than the 200x200 it came with be aware the thread pitch on this machine is 68x1 not the normal 85x1. I bought a 70x70 for it and emailed them asking what thread pitch it uses and they actually sent me an adapter for the thread pitch I bought without me even asking for it. Anyhow, good video and I hope the machine is as good for you as it has been for me!

    Hey Fella. When you installed you laser you needed to install files from the USB. Which files do you grab from the USB (ezcad) in Light burn. I didn't see you do that step.

    Any tips on learning what all the power, time, and frequency settings need to be. I am new to Light burn and trying to learn the settings and what they mean in terms of my engraving. Thanks in advance.

      It’s mostly just trial and error as each machine will have different settings. Lens type, machine power, etc will all account for different settings and results. I have a few more videos on this machine coming out shortly so stay tuned for those. If there’s something in particular you’re looking for let me know and I’ll try and help.

    Thank you for your presentation. I did buy this model and have set it up this weekend but have not mated it to my LB, yet. I also use Lightburn, too. Did LB automatically see the unit? did you have to do any calibration? I also picked up two additional lens (150mm and 100mm) and I purchased the D80 rotor.

    • @ArtByAdrock
      @ArtByAdrock  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes LB saw it right away. All I had to do was install the core file that came on the USB. No calibration or anything else though. 👍🏻

    Greetings Fella - So, I just ordered this model and I do not intend to use EZCAD. So, do I need to do anything such as pull any files from the USB? I just want to start right away with Lightburn but does it have the settings that are for our G160 Laser? Again, I have the same unit as you so I am watching intensly as I see other videos talking about calibrating, importing drivers and so much that I am a bit overwhelmed. Any advice you can give is appreciated.

    • @ArtByAdrock
      @ArtByAdrock  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To use lightburn you’ll just need to import the core file that is on the usb. When you’re adding the device in LB it will ask you for the file, just click on it from the usb. That’s pretty much it. Mine was calibrated but there’s always a chance you might need to do some slight adjustments if you change lenses or things aren’t lining up perfectly.

    The two extra screws. If you spin the vertical arm 90 degrees clockwise could you laser something off the side of the main plate that might be too tall to fit under the laser? It that what the two screws might be for?
    I hope that made sense.

    • @ArtByAdrock
      @ArtByAdrock  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t think so as there’s already 4 screws holding it on. 🤷🏻‍♂️ they could just be extra or more to use as tie downs for the included clamps. Good thinking though

    So, I have the same machine. but one thing I had an issue with was the initial Lightburn setup for this machine. Unfortunately, you skipped over that part in your video. How did you initially add this machine to Lightburn? My system did not appear when I selected the find my laser button. I see yours says the device is a Monport JCZFiber.

    is there a class I can take? I have a 60w mopa monport fiber laser. I have tried several attempts at coins and coloring on SS. I have done countless tests and no luck. Horrible results. I have bought height maps online, used the exact settings they use. Have tweaked it, nada.

    Can you change the lens on this particular machine? Their site shows the GI60 to have a working area of 7.9" by 7.9". I don't see an option for a 12" x 12" config. I also don't see which lens comes with this machine. Your description says yours has a f-theta 200mm lens. Was this the lens yours came with?

    • @ArtByAdrock
      @ArtByAdrock  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes mine came with the 200mm. You can change the lens as well. I just picked up the 70mm lens which I’ll be showing soon. 👍🏻

    • @rmpbrown01
      @rmpbrown01 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ArtByAdrock So a 70mm lens shows to have a work area of 2.7" x 2.7". My assumption is that you can get greater detail with the 70mm lens at the cost of less work area? I look forward to your next video. I just pulled the trigger based on your review and I also purchased the enclosure and got the rotatory with it as well. I'm super excited!

    I bought this exact laser from Monport because of your review. My experience has been subpar. They sent me a "new" machine with a bent screw rod. I contacted them about it weeks ago. They claim they've issued me a new rod but I have no tracking number or a new rod. Their customer service is absolutely horrible. Not to mention, they did not offer me instructions on how to make this repair either. Also, will they be compensating me for my time lost? No, of course not. Horrible company.
    Frankly, for the amount of money I spent, I'm disgusted by this company and will never support them again. Run from Monport. Run fast.

      It's exactly the same as a Commarker, but I would buy the commarker before buying a monport laser. I own the Commarker MOPA B4 and it's great. Monport scammed me by selling me a defective CO2 laser and then refusing to honor their fake warranty and return policies.
