One unusual game happened back in 98. Michigan’s last game was against Hawaii. After losing to Ohio State, they beat the Rainbow Warriors, 48-17 on November 28th, for their last regular season game.
I remember that time they played at Hawaii after The Game. I don't remember if I watched, probably not as I can't stand to watch them except for in The Game or if they are getting beat in hilarious fashion :) But I do remember seeing that on their schedule and thinking it was so bizarre. Some other teams did that in the '90s too but it was very strange seeing them hop on that trend.
I was there too. My seats were in a section that was mostly long time Cal season ticket holders and they said they occasionally had USC fans coming in droves when they were good, but had never seen another team take over that much of their stadium. And we are 2000 miles away.
I had a near death experience after that game!😅 Anyone remember that road that runs behind the away stands, with the porta potty’s on the other side? Well a truck almost ran me over as it sped down it a half hour after ther game as I got out of the porta potty. They seemed to forget the bands stayed late to play a concert together, then marched through the streets together). I also trash talked Jared Goff months before the game, said OSU would boat race em. I was ten and on a field trip to the facilities. Was pretty sweet. An all around sensational experience for me.
My favorite random game is easily 2016 Houston vs Louisville. It was a random non-conference game in November. This was the same Houston team that had taken down Oklahoma, but was unranked now. Louisville was ranked 5th with Lamar Jackson, and had a road non-conference game on a Thursday night against a non-power 5 team and they got absolutely dominated, losing 36-10. Houston lost to Memphis the next week. Such a random game.
@@cadeingersoll2896Absolute craziness, too. It was supposed to be a Week 1 game, but because of hurricane season, it got postponed until mid-October when the two teams coincidentally shared a scheduled bye week. And LaTech started 5-0, so because it got pushed to October, it ended up being a Top 25 matchup, #22 Texas A&M @ #23 Louisiana Tech. And the Bulldogs would return to the rankings later in the season, but then they lost their last two games to Utah State and San Jose State (both of whom wound up ranked) and ended up not even going to a bowl despite being 9-3. They had some future NFL talent, that 2012 Louisiana Tech team. Kenneth Dixon at RB, Vernon Butler on the D-line, Jordan Mills on the O-line. Their quarterback, Colby Cameron, never made it in the NFL, but racked up a ton of awards including three titles and a league MVP in just 5 years in the X League, the premier American Football league of Japan.
@@cadeingersoll2896la tech is in ruston along with grambling state, I've always thought they decided to put both schools in the middle of nowhere north Louisiana was not a coincidence. It's the one of the only dry parish / blue laws parishes in the whole state. We got a lot of baptists in Louisiana tho and that prolly appeased them.
2:26 Britain covey was actually on Utah in 2015. That was his freshman season and then missed 2016 and 2017 for an LDS mission in Chile (LDS means Latter Day Saints, a Mormon church group, correct if I’m wrong this is based on Wikipedia). Then he came back in 2018 and played through 2021, almost upsetting Ohio State in his final game as a Ute, in which he returned a kick for a touchdown and caught another for a touchdown.
As an OSU fan, the way Urban Meyer handled that QB situation is still upsetting to me. Kenny Guiton balled the fuck out when he filled in for Braxton and should’ve been the starter the rest of the way
I went to 2 of these games. OSU @Cal and OS v UC. The Cal game was fun, and as you can see Buckeye fans took over the stadium. I've been to quite a few OSU road and bowl games and it's always fun to take over another stadium. The UC game was a bit strange, first of all the kickoff was at 5:30 or some weird time, but it ended up being awesome because from my seat on the East side I got to watch an amazing sunset over the stadium. The game wasn't really close, even though the score wasn't a true blowout. As I remember UC had a couple breakaway plays for scores but never really threatened. Also this is the game where former OSU linebacker Anthony Schlegel leveled a drunk OSU frat kid who ran onto the field right before halftime. It's funny because from where we were sitting we weren't really sure what was happening, but found out by texting friends who were watching at home.
Hey that first CFP almost repeated itself for the final 4 game CFP this year! And what happened to FSU was exactly what the committee said was the reason they left undefeated FSU out this year…
What’s up man, me and my guys got an an extra ticket for the TCU Texas game November 11th. Veterans Day, the atmosphere will be electric. We watch all your videos, let’s make it happen.
Thats just Covet himself for Utah. Lot of players at Utah schools go on religious missions, sometimes in the middle of their time at school, which is what Covey did.
The Utah game was late for Eastern time, but local time was 6:30-believe Utah is Mountain time. And that is actually Britain Covey, he debuted for Utah in 2015.
Utah @ Oregon vs 2015 Oregon Scores first and gets the 2 point conversion before getting absolutely pummled, sending Utah up to #5 in the polls where they beat Jared Goff's #16 Cal team at home the following week which sent them up to #3 before getting wrecked by interm coach Clay Helton's USC team and falling off the face of the earth. You just remember silly things like that
One I didn't see you talk about is the Texas Tech and Texas game way back in 2010 I wanna say. 8 vs 3 when Graham Harrel to Michael Crabtree to get the lead for Tech with 3 seconds left and then the fans rush the field cause they thought it was over and got multiple penalties and kicked from the 15. Was a crazy game.
virginia tech at ohio state, 2014 home opener. the year ohio state entered the playoff and won the national championship. tech beat them by two scores while away and was the first home opener loss ohio state had in over 20? years. tech then lost their next game to wake forest in overtime while both teams scored no points in regulation. ohio state won out the rest of the season
If you like a big comeback, check out Arkansas State/Memphis from way back in '07. Tigers were ahead 31-6 at halftime, but the Indians (last year we were still called that) came all the way back in the second half to win 35-31 in Jonesboro!
Braxton Miller could not play QB anymore following his injury. He switched to H-Back for his grad school season because he struggled to throw over 30 yards accurately.
That 2012 Baylor team was pretty frustrating the first half of the season. After beating K State they ended up winning out despite having a losing conference record and beating UCLA in the Holiday Bowl and ending the season 8-5.
Houston had the chance to make the playoffs after that win against Oklahoma. If they won out I’m convinced they would have been top-4, just based on how every other team shook out.
No that actually is Britain Covey, apparently he played for Utah in 2015, he’s Morman so I think he went on an LDS and then re walked on the team in 2018 and was there till 2022, he’s 26 now lol
The last game I went to at the Orange Bowl was 98 Canes vs UCLA. All UCLA had to do was beat the Canes and they probably play for the NATTY that year. Canes win 49-45 Edgerin James ran for about 300 yards. I have to also add 2000, Canes beat Noles, Canes lose to Wash, I now need K st to beat Okla in big 12 champ game because the stupid bcs already picked Noles over Canes for natty game that would have put Canes Noles for Natty. I Just had to add that, it was good times.
Bruh east coasters smh. That second game with Michigan and Utah was at 8:30EST but the game was in Utah which is mountain time. So on location it was 6:30which isn’t really late. That’s not as bad as 7:30PST games on the west coast being 10:30on the east coast. Edit: Ignore time skips they don’t matter.
How about in the 2016 and 2017 season Washington and Rutgers had a home and home. I guess it won't be as weird now with Washington joining the Big Ten but still a fun one to look back on.
Oregon vs. Florida State wasn't "regular season", but the Rose Bowl. For that matter, neither was Oregon vs. TCU in your thumbnail (Alamo Bowl). /pedantic

2012, La Tech played Texas A&M in Shreveport during season when they had Manziel. Ended up like 59-57, both teams ranked. Great random game

Braxton Miller left QB because his arm couldn't keep going after messing up his shoulder...twice. He said so himself.

LDS is an old abbreviation for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but this is otherwise accurate
If this becomes a series, I’d love to see when Wake Forest and Virginia Tech finished regulation 0-0
A classic clip is when Urban Meyer reacts to Oregon winning by 40 and he jokes about leaving the press conference midway to go get ready
Cincy OSU was also the game where the fan ran onto the field and lost his scholarship. Anthony Schlegel trucked him
that Mahomes vs Baker game was also the same night as when PSU upset OSU and when the Cubs won the pennant.
No way you just said the playoff game between Bama and Ohio State was lame. That game was electric bro

Covey was in the Rose Bowl played on Jan 1, 2022
ok, for the utah michigan game it starts at 8:30 EST and utah who hosted the game uses Mountain time. So the game was at 6:30
Hearing "watched this game as a kid with an old TV" for a game that happened in 2015 is blowing my mind.
That is Britain covey in that Michigan. Man went on a 2 year LDS mission and got hurt a couple years as well

The Utah vs Michigan game started at 6:30pm MT in Salt Lake City
I remember Florida Atlantic came like a play or two away from beating Florida one year it was a great game
That Alamo Bowl has to be the worst coaching job in the history of a bowl game
