Thanks Bob. Met up with a fellow GXer this weekend and swapped out my captains for his bench, both super happy and it’s literally plug and play for both versions!
I think a 5 seater GX460 has different 2nd row seats fittings on the floor. 7 seater can be slided but 5 seater is probably similar to older GX460 2nd row seats.
A viewer requested it. Mainly to gain access to the rear subwoofers. But others do it because they want to build storage in the back to go over landing. Another good reason is to reupholster in case your leather is worn out.
GX Bob I have the same problem with 2nd row latch/lever. I have a Warranty took to SM Lexus Service they checked it told me $346 because warranty doesnt cover latches or door handles. I agreed to pay cost to fix and left the GX. Now they say needs a whole new 2nd row $6700 Warranty wont cover it. Any Ideas. Need to fold down middle row due to keyboard and amp.
Hello Bob! I have jingling noise coming from the middle seat of the back. Is there any way to check the middle seat only without having to remove the whole back seat?
sorry for the late reply GAnbuno. First of all, the only way to check the root of all noises is to recreate it while in its exact environment. I'm afraid you won't be able to recreate the jingle noise if you remove the seats. But if you do find the culprit and its deep out of reach then you'd have no choice but to dismount the seats.
Hi Bob My 2nd row folding latch that is located at shoulder level is not working when you pull to fold the seat. Any idea or how to fix it? It feels like there is no tension when you pull it. Luckily, it's the passenger rear so I use the lever by seat side to fold the seat but this moves the seat back and forth..
I have seen some pictures of the center row having no center seat with captain's chairs. Was this an option on GX's? Or is there a way to remove the center seat?
I believe the second row captain chairs were added in 2017 luxury package. The second row center seat does not remove separately as it is attached to the left passenger bench seat.

I was moving a box that was thin but kinda long and when I put it in the trunk I had to put one side of it on on the headrest and one of the plastic that holds the headrest metal bars broke. I spoke to a tech and he said the back panel needs to come off and then replace the piece which is $9. However Lexus will charge me something like $300 to that. I want to know if anyone has removed that plastic panel which is in the back of the rear seat(2nd row).
@@GXBOB the back panel on the seat, where the cables are to control whether the seat is upright or folded down. I want to remove the panel to repair those cables but don't want to damage anything
Bob, I'm 6'7". Any idea on how to get more drivers seat legroom? Bad knees get stiff. A couple more inches would be wonderful. Bet I'm not the only tall guy wishing for more legroom.
That definitely sounds like custom work to me, requiring some fabricated brackets that will extend the OEM seat brackets to the floor. At the same time, the side airbags are strategically placed to explode within the zone intended. Any extension out of this zone might pose a safety issue. Don't know....just thinking out loud.
E brake adjustment on the first generation was do-able and quite easy as the rear drums have a slot you can stick a flat head screwdriver in. I haven't found the same process for the 2014 and up. Many say its nonadjustable. I'll keep looking.

I love these videos, but did I miss why you are doing this? Is it just instructional or are you replacing the seats, head unit, etc?

You’re going to have to remove the seat and disassemble to get to the inside assembly. Your lever may have been detached somehow
