Removing Spare tire just in case you get a flat tire and get stranded in the middle of a bad neighborhood. This is a quick tutorial on how to get in and out.

not sure if i'm missing tools but if i am, i most likely don't need it. i used the same kit to do the hydraulic jack in my other video. The other panel has my first aid kit and some ratcheting straps in case i need to tie anything down to my roof rails.
@@GXBOB well in your other video how to take the back panel off to redo the camera you have some interesting toys strapped there, not original Lexus parts for sure.
Hi BOB, I just did this and noticed that the front side of the spare tire sits a little lower to the ground than back side when I reeled it back up (a little slanted). Is this normal? It feels tight and snug otherwise. I guess I should have looked how it sits first before lowering it.
Hi Tu, technically you can adjust any way you'd like. All you have to do is keep it leveled while you're turning up back into its space. Sometimes its easier to do it with 2 people so one can turn the bar while the other person eyeballs the tire back into place. Also make sure the thing that clamps around the inside diameter of your wheel is properly set in place, that can throw off the leveling of it too.
funny thing you said that because i was seriously shopping for rims and tires. I considered going big and thought about the spare tire. I don't think i would replace my spare tire. I would only use the oem spare tire to get me back to civilization and replace the flat one. I thought long and hard. Only makes sense to change out the 4 tires i'm riding on unless you have a tire carrier and u want to show off your Method 305's.
Thanks for the video. Just got my first flat tire today. Unfortunately, as soon as I lowered my spare tire, it also came with a severe tear on the sidewall. No idea how that could've happened? I just picked up a 2021 a few months ago.

@@vadim9342 hey, the good thing about the under carriage spare tire compartment is its not confined to just the oem tire dimensions. The chain that attached the tires swings in all directions. All you have to do is guide it to where you want it when you crank up the chain. Even though the 60’s ride up to my tow hitch, i can easily push it back more if i wanted to.
Hey WEC, Its a chain hoist. Very normal typical chain link. I typically wind it up snug to the point where the tire has no slack to move around or come off its adapter, but not tight enough where the rubber is going to compress against the metal floor ceiling of its housing and cause frictional tire wear over time.
i've never in my entire life yanked anyone's chain. If chain means "sausage", then yeah, i've never yanked one except that time in college me and my dorm mate was curious.

Hey Justin, don't believe u can do that manually. I don't even think there is a reset button for as long as i've owned all 3 generations. The tires have monitors. If your lights are on and your pressure is good, that means the people who replaced your tires took your monitors? I've never had to deal with it so i may check on the lexus forums.

Make sure you use a tire inflator. Last time I blew up my spare tire with my mouth, it took 4 days.

Have you done a bypass of tmps on the lx470. First I heard it was behind the radio. Now I hear it’s over the passenger wheel well?

Does it matter what way my wheel is facing? Can the face of my rim be towards the ground?
The chain hook would then be grabbing onto the face of the wheel causing scratches and also the wheel would be exposed to flying rocks and debris.

I wouldn't go larger than stock because the tire was really tight against my tow hitch receiver
I was told by my Lexus technician that a 32 inch tire is the maximum u can fit underneath

Lexus should have designed it so the spare tire valve stem was pointing downward so you could check the tire pressure with the spare on the car.
