- Did you know that South Korea is a hotbed for speculative investment into cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum? In fact, it’s not an understatement to say that young Koreans in their 20s and 30s go crazy with crypto investing, and according to a local survey, 53% of college students in Korea expressed a positive opinion about investing in crypto. We hit the streets of Seoul to find out how many Koreans actually invest in crypto and why they think it’s a good idea.

I will always advice anyone now to forget predictions and start making good profit now because future valuations are all speculations and guesses.The market is very unstable and you can't tell if it's going bearish or bullish. The first reason why young Koreans invest in cryptocurrency is that they tend to 'gamble legally'. Although there is a casino in Korea, but that located in Gangwondo(countyside)
Secondly, house prices are rising quickly.
The prices of apartments in Seoul rose 86% on average over the past four years.
The gambling argument is SK State propaganda. If investing in crypto currency is gambling then so is investing in stocks or the housing market. Anyone investing in anything without understanding its fundamental value would be considered gambling sure, but I don't think young people are investing because "Like to gamble"
If young Koreans are struggling to find work after school and have been priced out of the real estate market, then why the hell would they be "gambling" their money away? It could just be that young Koreans see it as the only market that isn't discriminatory and is open to everyone.

@@MM-ry4hi they do exist, especially chinese casinos, but they are illegal. its actually a written law that gambling is forbidden. there is casinos at walker hill or hilton hotel but you are only allowed membership with a foreign passport.
you can even get in trouble gambling overseas if you are a famous celebrity or political figure. its a cultural thing. but silly to judge someone korean gambling outside korea.
Honestly I appreciate you and your content < Technical Analysis is good but I find It truly baffling that major crypto youtubers just look mostly at pure T.A and completely ignore the bigger narrative of why BTC pumps/dumps and why the future outlook will be even rosier than it seems. It's kinda irresponsible to ignore the fact that each ETF launch so far has caused a major dump at the peaks of BTC. We were already on shaky footing with historically low volume and almost pure whale pumps, narrowly avoiding a long-term bear market. More emphasis should be put into day tradiing as it is less affected by the unpredictable nature of the market. I have made over 5 btc from day trad!ng with Mr Roy Louis insights and charts. He has been one step ahead of other analysis...Stick with ETH/BTC/ADA/SHIB/SOL/LTC..
As a new investor it's always great to hear from a person who has gone through all the difficult times and come ahead of it. It's unnerving to see your portfolio go from green to red but as mentioned if you have invested in quality names just have to keep adding to them and stay to the course.

I remember crashing hard when the pandemic started and people were like this is the end of crypto, it was literally the bottom, which is like around 500% up from now.

Idk when to sell if I'm being real. The price keeps getting higher and higher. I know it'll hit 100k one day and then 200k..
There is a diffrence between using it for speculation and intended goal of safe and anonymous transactin system.

Crypto is an escape for investors that don't want the crash to affect totally. This is why a selected few that understand the times are taking up the opportunity of investing in cryptocurrencies, mostly bitcoin.
Crypto is also so easy to get into. You just download some trusted app, deposit some fiat and buy some crypto. I can't say the same with stocks.

there is a big difference in investing vs speculation...if you are chasing FIAT prices short term, you are speculator..if you hold long term as a new technology and digital asset thru price fluctuations, you are investor...sadly, people who hold long term say 5 or 10 years only will win...
It's sad to see so many people lose money with Bitcoin. There's nothing wrong witth investing in Cryptocurrency, but one of the basic rules of investing is diversification. Putting everything on one horse is generally a bad idea, regardless of what the horse actually is. Especially if you don't have a lot of funds, investing everything into a single thing puts you at risk of losing everything.
Wow so everybody who invested did it for the wrong reasons. Only guys who had anything wise to say about it is that it is like gambling, and it is too volatile without dividends. It's not just imaginary like the one dude said though, crypto is a real thing that proposes real solutions for certain types of problems. Anyway, do your research and try to understand it before you invest. And yeah a lot of the market movement in crypto are based purely on the emotions of millions of investors who may or may not even understand the technology, and probably more so than that by large investors trying to manipulate the market, there realistically is no way to ensure short term trades will have a good outcome

The guy who invested ETH and BTT he did well by hodling since the crypto market is crashed right now it's the only way not to lose your money. BTT is not a good one to invest because it will take a long time to rise again. There is a lot of scammers who take this opportunity to scam people who has lack knowledge about cryptocurrency so be careful. Do your own research, learn how to read the chart and most importantly invest what you can afford to lose. :)

I agree but Land usually costs a lot. Crypto is really cheap compared, as in you can invest like 50$ a month, where land costs few hundred thousand to buy depending where you live of course.

Personally, I myself wouldn’t invest in cryptocurrency down the road for I also know that it’s a form of risky business. I mean, I have nothing against other people who are willing to invest in cryptocurrency to increase their assets, but then again, it can possibly become risky, if you know what I mean. The cost of living especially in highly urbanized areas are getting more and more tediously expensive nowadays, and some people are leaning more towards financial investments for their own respective lives and futures.

The street may be public and the building entrance areas may be private. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I don’t live in Seoul lol.

Crypto right now is very risky, particularly in the short term. Not financial advice, but AMC will bring about the greatest wealth transfer. Check out Matt Kohrs or Trey's Trades, and do your own research and DD. The stock market (and financial media) are blantantly manipulated by hedge funds and market makers, and it's why the SEC and DTCC in the U.S. are passing new rules. AMC (and GME) will be in the history books without a doubt.

100% agree with one of the comments on here that you shouldn't invest in something you don't understand. It's basically gambling. However you can trade crypto-related companies on the stock market short-term which are more predictable based on technical analysis - chart patterns.

I believe in the blockchain technology, but I don't believe in an asset that is built on what people think of it. That is why I am also diversifying away from FIAT whenever possible. Glad to know the Koreans are smart also, at least 3/4 of them are.

I find it interesting that not a single person said they invest because they believe in the concept of crypto as a currency. It's all about stories of high profits that entice people to invest some themselves. In contrast, I have quite a few colleagues who are heavily invested in the concept and will never sell, regardless of what happens.
If you poll the general population, I think most will say no since it's still a relatively niche thing despite the amount of mainstream press that crypto has received these last few months. If crypto gets exposure through more traditional forms of finance like through an ETF, it'll gain more mass adoption. Would be curious if you did this poll in China though since that's where most Bitcoin is mined, at least before the nation-wide crackdown.

Koreans don’t have patience to hodl they want the quick buck and give up quickly if the market dumps, but now is the time to accumulate

TBH, Crypto is not a quick rich investment scheme.
The market is very volatile compared to the stocks market can gain 10% and can lose the same percentages within days or two.
I enter crypto due to FOMO on last march rallies and I lost around 40% of the investment today.
However, due to failure, I started to understand more about crypto and learn TA via forums and youtube.
Strong community, makes me wanted to invest more as a side income.
Also due to my country's fiat currency purchase power is getting lower year to year, no point in keep too much cash.
Fiat currency will almost always lose purchasing power due to inflation though. I'm hoping you're not referring to hyperinflation in your country (then again, I'm thinking of major currencies such as the USD, EURO, etc. so I could be overlooking your situation). Will still recommend investing in crypto though. I still think fiat will be very relevant for the remainder of the century, unless something drastic happens.

There is honestly too much invested in crypto to have it all go to $0. We've experienced a numerous amount of dips and it has historically always gone up year after year.

However, after many years Bitcoin has failed to take off as a payment system for the general public. China have just stamped on it and they wont be the last. It’s fun as long as you don’t take it too seriously.
@Danny Won It’s the Anonymity of the system which is the problem . You can see money move, but it’s not always possible to see who’s doing it. Government’s don’t object to people speculating on Bitcoin ,nothing illegal there go ahead. It’s when crime use Bitcoin to move their stolen money Government’s don’t like it. That’s the BIG problem.
