I want to learn how to knit two socks at a time. You have THE BEST explanation of how to cast on for two at a time socks!! Thank you! This makes so much sense.
Thank you, the way you explained magic loop cast on for. Two at a time & also showing how to work two at a time magic loop knitting was so much clearer than a lot of other vids I've watched trying to learn this. Now I feel like I can actually do this!
Hello. I'm Italian and some time ago I saw a video of this technique in my language and I didn't understand anything. Now by chance I saw your video in English and I understand this method perfectly. Thank you for explaining it so well.
Thank you so much for this video..I don't know why I couldn't find it sooner before I lost my mind trying to learn this. AND I absolutely love it that you used 2 different colors! You're the only teacher who I've seen do this and boom! light of understanding went off in my head. I've been making two sort-of flaps instead of a round joined-together piece. I want to see these baby hats finished! And I really hope you make more instructional videos, you're really a terrific teacher. Bless your heart for sharing your knowledge!
You are so sweet to say that! So happy the video was helpful! I don’t believe I took a picture of the hats fully finished before I gave them away, but here is one just before I took them off the needles: instagram.com/p/Bb7yKHeFQzi/?igshid=1qxwweey9v1mh I hope to get some more videos up very soon! I’ve finally finished moving and I’m so excited to get filming again! Thank you again for you lovely comment! Happy knitting!
@@Purlsandpixels Oh these hats are adorable! I also knit preemie hats for our children's hospital and I love it that I could knit 2 at a time! Thanks again, I look forward to your next video!!
Thank you so much for the video! I clicked on yours because of the 2 color cast on you used. Which made me order a long cabled needle, & I'm so happy I did 💜🧶
This is the best video I have found for learning this technique. It is very easy for a begnner, which I am, to follow. The camera work, the pace and the explanation are perfect. Thank you! Now I can comfortably make my two at a time mittens!
Thank you for the excellent video. I had watched a couple others previous to yours, but yours was the easiest to follow, I had success the first time through. I think what helped me most was that you explained how to discern the write side and wrong side of the pieces so that I could keep them from getting twisted. I am an experienced knitter and use magic loop all the time but had never tried knitting two pieces at once, on one cord. Thanks again.
Wow I’ve seen many many videos and no one has explained this way where at the first time I understood how to do this thank u sooo much for sharing!! Just subscribed can’t wait to see more of your videos ❤️❤️
I watched another video and attempted 3 times to start 2 socks at the same time, but it wasn't working for me at all. My sister showed me this video and I'm glad she did!! This is so much more clear than the first video I watched. Attempted this and now I'm on row 3 which is the furthest I've gotten!! Thank you for the great video - will keep it for future references.
Thank you for your instractions. They were slow enough and one can see all that is important to see to understand this tecnique. It took a while to find the video that explane this tecnique in a understandable way.
Thank you so much for explaining this so well. I never could quite understand how this was done until I seen your video. I think the two colors helped me finally understand. Thank you again! Great job!!
Very well done video. But I think I can knit two on dpns as fast as pulling this cable through and adjusting the stitches. I do use the continental fast knitting method. I know how to wind a ball with center pull but like the looks of yours better so will try to find your way of winding.
Wow for fiddly! ((: Your point above of getting both items the same size is well taken; thanks.......am thinking a lidded yarn bowl would be nice for two at a time.....? I use slider zip bags, though..... 180 degree flip.....I'm glad you show this continental, too. So, not sure I'd use this method but I am very interested in the 'how to'; thanks!! ((((( Happy Holidays, btw! )))))
Cant....just cant .... I just barely learned to do the magic loop and i tried this and got so confused on where to turn and what position my needles needed to be in. Ill stick to doing two on separate needles or do one at a time. Thank you though your video is easy to understand im just not ready and coordinated enough for this.
Tia Willich I’m proud of you for trying. You’re right to practice with one at a time for a while. You will get faster and it will seem easier and easier. Then, once one-at-a-time feels natural, I encourage you to try again. It is tricky, but you can do it someday! Keep going! 💕
This tutorial is great, so much clearer explanation than others I've seen... How did you hand roll your ball so it has a centre-pull?...this looks much easier to work with, and no more runaway balls, do you have a tutorial for this? TIA :)
Grandy 28 So glad you like this video. I do have a video about how to wind balls of yarn. I made it before I got a microphone, so the audio is a bit dodgy, but you can find it here: th-cam.com/video/nN5RvBMZeK4/w-d-xo.html Hope it is helpful 😄
Catherine Somerville those are very nice needles as well. I find I’m able to knit just a bit faster with them. I just personally prefer bamboo or wooden needles because they make a little less noise for me. The click clack of metal bothers my sensitive ears ;-)
Hi. I need help. I first knit one at a time toe up GSR heel socks on one 9” circular. And then knit Two at a time toe up socks on one long circular using Magic Loop Now I’ve bought two sets of the same size tips (2.5) and two 14” cables so I can knit Two at a time; Toe up socks; using Judy’s Magic Cast On. But on Two Circulars. I found Magic Loop really annoying I can’t find a sock pattern or tutorial for that combination. I’ve been searching and searching but can’t seem to find anything exact. Can you direct me to a pattern with video tutorial (I’m a see-do learner)? Thank you 🙏
Oh that is a tricky one. I will certainly keep an eye out for a tutorial like that and send it your way if I find one. I'm not sure I've seen that method myself. If anyone reading the comments here can offer a suggestion, please send help. ;-)
Thank you for this video ! I think I almost have it ! I do have a question : do you join the yarn in the round in some manner or does the progression of stitches make that happen ?
Hi! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for your question. I don't do anything fancy to join the round. Just working into the first stitch of the last round joins the circle, and as you continue to knit it becomes a seamless round. Technically, you'll be knitting in spirals rather than exact rounds when you follow this guide. But when you are working in one color (or one colorway of variegated yarn) it appears seamless. This method does work best when you are just using one color/colorway of yarn per item. If you go to add stripes in another color you'll be able to see that the rounds a bit off and you will need to adjust by slipping a stitch. At some point, I'll try to make a video explaining that bit more clearly, but I hope that helps a little!
This one is easier to see than the other 2 at a time on 2 circular needles cuff down. I think it would be good to specify that you're knitting in the round and that your knitting rounds, not rows.
sue wilson glad you’re enjoying the video! These are US size 5 / 3.75 mm circular needles that are 36 inches long. You could go as short as 29 inches long for this method though. 😄
Although I am familiar with this tech but felt I needed a reminder. Thank you for your slow instructions. One thing puzzles me, how does one join the 1st stitch of round 1 with last stitch worked of colour 1, I always knit socks on dpn's but SSS is always a problem, I slip first stitch of dpn 1 onto dpn 4, slip last stitch of dpn 4 over 1st stitch onto dpn 1 and then slip the stitch back onto dpn 1, pull tog to secure then start rib. This is impossible on circulars cos I have frogg the 2 sleeeves 4 times. Any suggestions?
Good question! Honestly I avoid all the tricky ways to join the first and last stitch. I just knit directly into the first stitch of round 1 to start the next round. Especially when I’m working with one kind of yarn & not doing stripes of color, not slipping the first stitch has never really impacted the final outcome for me. Hope that helps!
Great job! Your demonstration is very clear. I have knitted socks two at a time but it’s been a while. Thank you for refreshing my mind. What brand circulars are you using? Thank you again. 🌸
Seems like it's a lot of extra adjusting of the needles... Why not just use Dpns. And do each one separately? Is there really any advantage to this method that I'm not seeing?
In my experience, yes. Especially for knitters who have trouble keeping their gauge exact, two items knit separately can come out in slightly different sizes. For mittens, socks, and when you want things to turn out in an identical size, knitting two at once ensures your two pieces are perfectly matched. 😄
I haven’t made socks yet but this appeals to me because I dislike making the same thing twice in a row most of the time. Usually by the time I’m finished with the first, I definitely don’t care to do a second. I feel like this would be a good method for me.
Best demonstration video out there! You went slow and explained every step of the way how to cast on which is the hardest part! Thank you!
Wow, thanks! So glad it was helpful!
