To torque the first set of caliper brackets, what wrench did you use and what was the length of the socket? I had some trouble getting my wrench to fit on the upper bolt.
hello sir ,great video,,i have a 2006 pontiac pursuit ,i am not sure if its g5 or g6 but would this work the same and exact spec etc for my car? if so i have a few questions 1) is there only a couple of retaining rings for the rotor? can it be replaced without using the rings again if they are destroyed? i assume the lug nuts will push it back and hold it correct? 2) can i use acetone to clean the rotor? 3)can i leave the rotor alone and only do the pads?if so what do i need to be sure of upon inspection on the surface of the rotor? 4)if i have a shop do the pad work can i expect them to replace hardware and include break wear indicator ? to lube guide pins? and lube all the parts where necessary? except to pay for a decent price for either pads or pad and roto job?
Hello..yes the pontiac g5 would be the same..yes u dont need to reuse the retaining rings for rotor they only hold rotor in place while wheel is off..yes acetone works too...if the rotor is even and isnt glazed(reflective like mirror) u can reuse it...it depends on shop as far as if theyll lubricate everything, not everyone will do it
@@backyardchevy328 hmmmi thought a mirror surface would mean it can be reused?,,ok ty ,i went to a shop and the guy said if i bring him the parts he will charge me 100 bucks for the labor,,for that i am def excepting him to do a good job in removing rust and lubing where necessary, specially when i will be there watching him do the work as its a small shop and he works only with one other guy
@@ARCSTREAMS no a mirror surface the brake pad doesnt bite on the rotor so good, it tends to slide across the surface they can be resurfaced though as long as theyre thick enough...yea hopefully does do a great job on em
@@backyardchevy328 i understand now,,i figured it was the positive corrosion outward pitting that was the main isue specially on the back plate but i assume it dont take long for most rotors to get a mirror surface after a little while, at least most look like that from what i seen ,would be nice to have a rough surface that remains that way longer but they will end up eating through the pads faster then ,both remaining flat is the best ,,maybe i should just use oak wood,,it will smell like a bbq but i think they will last quite long and with little friction heat transfer or wear n tear on the rotor and im sure very quiet
@@ARCSTREAMS yea its usually due to improperly breaking in pads to rotors or heat that kinda melts a layer of the brake pad onto the rotor..yea its really hard to keep rotor surface rough and grippy
I replaced my brake pads like two months ago for ceramic ones still have after 3 or 4 miles driving.. Is because of the pads are bad quality or what else can be ?
Are the brake pads wearing uneven in any way? Normally if brake pads wear fast itll be cause of a sticking caliper or the guide pins are sticking as well..or if the surface of rotor is uneven.
@@panzerwaffen2873 anytime🙂 yea then youll definitely lubricate the guide pins and clean the hardware and lubricate the slide points..if not that..it may be a problem with the caliper
Thanks excellent work and description.. Excellent tips
🇨🇦/🇺🇸... You have MUCH BETTER views of the details! Thanks!
Thanks a lot! I just used this and brake swap successfull

Its a 1/2 drive torque wrench but i use an adapter from 1/2 to 3/8 drive cause the socket was a 3/8ths drive..the socket is 2.5 inch long

@@backyardchevy328 hey bro thanks a lot for responding... Well brake rotors are brand new also I installed the whole set

@@backyardchevy328 that's the issue then ... I didn't lubricate the pins ...
@@panzerwaffen2873 hopefully that does help fix the issue🙂 good luck
You didn't bleed the air out of the brakes man
