      You got to take into account things took a toll on him and I think he became something in the end that he didn’t want. Multiple events had a spiralling effect on him. The major bank robberies that failed with Pinkertons that showed up each time, these resulted in key members being killed which made him become less trustworthy of people close to him. Micah took over as his right hand man and the bash he took to his head may have done something too. Concussions have been found to have mind altering effects on people.

      Oh wow. I once got failed in english for trying to use a video game and its story for an example of some thing they wanted an essay for. It was a legit essay and it answered the question, but "i dont think games are a good idea because theyre.. " and then they made an announcement to the class that anything about games was now off-limits for any upcoming assessments, because the teacher said so. And yeah 0%. Not even a pity mark or anything. It was just "fuck you, fuck your games and fuck your future"

    Red Dead Redemption means the world to me. The first game came out when I was in high school. My home life wasn’t great, and Red Dead was my escape from all the bad around me. It inspired me to move out west, and as a kid in high school, I remember saying that one day I would have a ranch of my own. when I turned 20 I made my way to a small mountain town in the middle of nowhere in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, married the love of my life, and as of last March I’m proud to say I purchased my own ranch at the foot the mountains. My wife and I have decided to name it beecher's hope, as tribute to all Red Dead has done for me. My wife wanted a ps4 last Christmas, and now Red Dead Redemption 2 online has become something special we do as a family. I found out this year that we’re going to have a baby. When my child grows up, I cant wait to show them the game that inspired me, and gave me the drive to make my dreams come true . This game means more to me than any other form of media ever could.

Playing RDR2 has given me a better self esteem about myself (as I’m on the Austin’s spectrum and tried to hide it for years) ever since I’ve played RDR2 I’ve felt more secure with who I am and what I am and not afraid to say it. That’s what Rockstar and the RDR series have done for me.

    When I was visiting my parents I brought over my PS4 and played RDR2 while I was there. My dad, being 58, had never been so interested in a video game. Just by casually watching as he sat on the couch while we sipped beers, he was totally captivated by the acting and storytelling of the game. He was so interested that he even had me start a new game to play it from the beginning. He was so emotionally involved like I had never seen before, giving his own observations on the characters and situations as if they were all real, because they do feel real. Now he's seriously considering buying the game for himself to play it all the way through! I truly think it's one of the best stories ever told, and will always have a special place in my heart.

    • @iainhamilton213
      @iainhamilton213 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I’ve just been at my dad’s in Scotland and I’d be banging on about this for ages as he’s barely played any games apart from when is was a kid. Slightly different is that I asked him to watch it to understand my perspective. He absolutely loved it and thought it was gripping storytelling and gave a great perspective of the time period and he came out of it asking is there other stuff like RDR2 and I told him all of them. He’s 56 and loved every bit of Red Dead Redemption 2.

    • @PeteValence
      @PeteValence 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@celeste4302 logically if they want to continue the western theme, then i think you can be assured that part 3 will be another prequel, otherwise you risk changing the whole vibe. Thanks for the video. I love the detail they put into everything in this game. Even the non main characters. For instance one of the most memorable scenes for me is Colm O'Driscoll's hanging. To see someone so sure of themselves even with a noose around there neck is crazy. The the very next moment when he realizes his gangs rescue attempt is foiled. To see some so rattled like that is a very rare thing to see. I mean you can figuratively see his sould die in a span of 2-5 seconds even before he is actually hanging. How they captured that will remain in my head for a long time.

    Loved the video. Yes, RDR2 is a masterpiece work. I haven't played RDR, but am certain I will. It would be nice if they could somehow bring the video quality up to the RDR2 standard as 10 years, maybe 15 now since it was filmed, have seen a lot of leaps forward in graphics. Very much hoping for a RDR3 that perhaps focuses on the events of the 1890 through to the Blackwater massacre in 1899.

    i think the rdr cast really highlights the fact that rockstar games cares about natural acting, almost all of their protagonists and major characters are portrayed by actors who don't need to change too much about their natural habits to deliver a good performance. i say the rdr cast does it best because i think roger, ben and rob's interviews all show off the fact they are using their natural voices and body movements to play these phenomenal characters. you see it with the gta v guys too but the fact rob and ben sound exactly like john and dutch in normal conversation is just crazy..

    I love how Dutch always talked about the morality of gunslinging and outlaws. It’s like he knew who and where he was in time but not enough to break the 4th wall.
    Dutch said,
    This is man so in love with greed he has forgotten himself and has found only appetites. He said to John that he spent is whole life fighting the law and everything. It made him a dead man walking for decades. John told him to give up but he can’t fight his own nature of gunslinging either. That’s the paradox.. it’s sad they all didn’t make it. But that was a matter of morality and time.

Makes you wonder if those lines were written in because the actor behind Dutch needed to have some FAITH in the director.

    The game itself should be considered the closest thing to an art product, within a game, that you can buy right now.
    The only downside is the online mode which similar to a lot of titles, has fallen prey to sneaky underhanded tactics to push the average gamer into spending more money for in game currency, that you’d otherwise be grinding a few weeks/month for..
    Bit of a double edged sword.. but well worth buying just for its story and artistic approach.
