In shoot interviews Scott hall said that in the ring he was sober, outside the ring he was off the rails and drinking stupid amounts but he claimed to have never drank before going out to the ring.

My dad was on the Detroit Police Department in the late 60's when a call for assistance came over the radio, Andre the giant was in a bar after a wrestling match with some friends. He had a bit much to drink and a brawl broke out with him and some fans. Story goes that he floored quite a few people including some of the cops and bouncers that were trying to restore order. His buds calmed him down and he went quietly once he realized what he did, he even apologized for his behavior once he sobered up.

As a friend of Hak aka Sandman, I can tell you he was drunk throughout his ECW career, he wasn’t playing any gimmick and everyone would tell you they would rather work him drunk than sober anyday because he’d injure you when trying to work sober.

I remember being a kid in the late 70s and seeing Jake Roberts on Champion Wrestling from Florida. He was so drunk he actually fell off the top rope and even out of the ring a couple times. Poor ole Gordon Solie tried his best to cover for him but it was obvious even to 9 year old.

Attended a meet and greet with animal and sandman recently. Sandman was on first and when he was done he sat in the corner with a large cooler for the rest of the event and occasionally throwing out a comment to follow up on what animal said
A friend of mine knows a guy who claims his dad use to be on the ring crew in ECW back in the day. Supposedly, this guy was backstage at a show one time and ran across Sandman doing blow, and Sandman offered him some. This guy was 10 at the time.
I used to be ring crew for Philly shows... the only part of that story i find shocking is Sandman offering to share.

Totally agree. I love that toothpick throw. Scott is my all time favorite too. He had the best finisher “ Razor’s Edge”, and he was great on the mic. I also liked his Hey Yo. Glad he is doing better.

He drank like 3 bottles of cheap Mexican tequila and 23 street tacos before a match with Bad News Allen (Brown) in Mexico circa 1992 and all he got was a bad case of diarrhea, and he did a sit-down splash on Allen and well, it was a "shitty" situation, let's just say.

Don't excuse a potentially disastrous situation. If he was in THAT much pain, he should've forfeited, not maybe injure someone else because he was drunk.
I sympathize w/wrestlers. It's a physical grind regarding folks to perform pretty much year-round. And I come from a genetic & conditioned line of alcoholics. I even have a weakness for opioids because of all the wonderful hospital stays/surgeries I've endured. But the only risk involved is mine. I don't drive, go on ladders, or anything else that could put someone at risk. And I'm just a Joe Blow! I keep THAT much in my head. Can promoters & wrestlers who act irresponsibily say the same?
I don't know about this video, Hall was never drunk on the job. He drank after his matches and after shows. But never drank on the job. The vomit spot was cream of mushroom soup.
