    How did you manage to get everyone in focus at 2:21 with f5.6 aperture? I tried this with 35mm and it didn't work well.

    • @JohnSoh
      @JohnSoh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I plugged it in a DOF calculator. 50mm at f5.6 at 6 meters away has a dof of 2 meters.

    Yeah compared to the new RF 50 mm F1.2 this lens is mush city wide open...She even says she doesn’t want it to be too soft which is why she states she shoots at F2.2

    Only thing is you need steady hands, but it is a great lens

      I have THE WORST shaky hands! That's what Image Stabilizer is for as well as keeping a higher shutter speed. Good point!

    no lens hood at 2:23. seriously, is that a technique/style?

    I have a Canon 5DSR and I don´t buy this lens ( yet) because I´m afraid the 50 megapixels don´t be sharpen like my other lenses, Sigma ART 25-35 and 85.

    There are also many Wedding photographers that love the Canon 35mm f1.4 and 24-105mm f4L, what are your opinions on those lenses?

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the 35mm, and sold my 24-105. It's preference and style really. f/4 wasn't helping me much since I shoot around 2.2-3.5 most of the time.

    • @AJ-wv3rs
      @AJ-wv3rs 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Vanessa Joy the canon 50 1.4 has faster focusing though, the 1.2 is notoriously slower, don’t know about the sharpness but i think a sigma 50 1.4 would be better for her work

    • @merlinalfonso6374
      @merlinalfonso6374 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AJ-wv3rs 50/1.2 is not "notoriously slower". It's fine. The 50/1.4 is a much worse lens, with a focus motor that breaks easily. Also, much worse at f/1.4.

    • @lebronj1587
      @lebronj1587 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      easy. everyone's faces are not in focus. If you were to have that blown up or made into a print, the girl second from the right would be out of focus. Otherwise, you just gotta line the clients up as straight as you can.

    Which lens do you use to shoot group pics in Weddings. I thing 50mm and 85mm can be used only for portrait shots because if I shoot bride and groom with these even if my F- stop is 2 or lower, both the subject doesn't end up crisp or in focus.
    By the way, I am NIKON :)

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use the 50 and 85 for groups is I can! And for landscapes too. I like the compression of the lenses so if I have the room to back up I'll use them - but you're correct, I'm NOT using them at 1.2... more like 5.6 for groups.

      Ibrahk 5 yes you can. But due to crop factor you'll have an equivalent to 80mm instead of 50mm, which is not bad. My friend and I shoot weddings and I have 2 cameras, canon T6i with my 50mm 1.2 on it and 6d markii with 135mm.

      lol - Nikon and Sony make a 50mm equivalent too, though I believe only a 1.4 instead of a 1.2. But like Steve said, I can't talk about what I don't use - that would be quite ingenuous.
