Yeah, it bugs me that DF’s videos consistently get 200K+ views despite him being utter shit at the game, like so bad it almost looks like he’s trying to mess up his own runs as much as possible, then the dude with the world record gets like a third of his number of views.
I just got into playing this for a week or so and just bearly beat the final boss seeing this actually makes me feel a bit sad cus the boss has multiple stages ;-;

Wait, so because the spring shoes increases your damage the longer you stay up in the air/flying, you basically get crazy damage increase because you stay in the air with the wings? so the spring shoes effect and the wings synergies together?

@@helliox2487 At the beginning of the run in town I open my inventory and hover over the Wings. It shows the Wings have the additional ability of +1 dash. These Wings came from the dungeon and it took me hundreds of hours to grind for them. I brought them back from the dungeon by always playing with 20 levels in Mystic. During my runs I also added items to the sacrificial altar to build it up to about 75% full. Once I had the Wings I activated the shrine until I got the Red Pickaxe. Once I had both items in town I retrained my stats to 20 Swiftness, 10 Wrath, and 5 Mystic. Then I quit to the title screen and had a save file that I could use to speedrun the game. When I speedrun I load the town over and over again to get the Spring Shoes in the store before starting. This can take upwards of 15 minutes.
@@Agent_ No, I keep all items because I have a backup of the save file that I use for speedrun attempts. After every attempt, whether success or failure, when the attempt is over I restore the backup save file. Doing so gives me both the Wings and the Red Pickaxe back. I hope that answer helps.
Wings are a big help in this game. They make you faster and you have perfect control. There is no momentum so you start and stop on a dime. Very handy!
You are correct. There are definite improvements to movement and execution which can be made. I plan to refine my execution over the coming weeks and lower the record if I can.
Any% does not mean glitches in this category just that you can complete as little of the game as possible before you win. As far as the community knows at this point there are no glitches that can be used to speed up runs. I hope this explanation is helpful!
I'm a little confused lol. Did they take out floors in a recent update? Floors don't exist on the version I'm playing. It goes from one brick tile biome to Belial, then from one ice biome to ice witch, etc etc. Also there is not floor pop up for me?
New uploads should start by mid/end of this month. I will be trying to improve my existing records as well as trying for new records in this game and others.
When you rush through the game the experience can be short, but there is a lot to do! There are two hidden bosses, multiple endings, and five trials you can put your character through! You can also try to collect all the item sets. That alone took me over 200 hours!
The stats I am trying to increase are movement speed, the number of dashes I have, and damage. Damage is a combination of power, critical chance, critical damage, attack speed, and true damage.
@@Relmer and how you prioritize those stats in order? In other words, how you determine which of those stats you increase first and which ones you focus on later?
@@helliox2487 Unfortunately you don't get a lot of chance to prioritize. During the run you get the additional items and food that the game gives you and you have only seconds to determine what to use. I would get familiar with the items in the game and the food names so that you know what to instinctively equip and eat as it comes to you. That only comes from grinding the game.
@@Relmer Nice idea :O liked it! It's like training your muscle memory while grinding and familiarizing yourself with everything in this game, so that while speed running you don't waste any time at all.
I would buff Evasion to about 60 if possible and have Swiftness 20 for invincible dashes. This will give you the best chance for negating his attacks. Then it's just about knowing the patterns. Good luck!
We carry the Wings over from the dungeon using Mystic 20 and the Red Pickaxe comes from cashing in our Blessing in town. When you cash in your blessing you have two items. If you then exit to the title screen it creates a save file with two items saved to it. I hope that explanation helps!

I feel like the timer should stop the second the final boss's health bar hits 0 since its just a cut scene after that ends with a pop up of you win. Doesn't make sense to add time to something you have 0 control over. It's why skyrim speed runners have the timer paused for loading screens.

I am wearing an outfit called Criminal Silhouette. Whenever I pickup an item and carry it in my inventory I get a boost in Oower but lose both Defense and Max Health. It's risky but definitely the fastest way to play!
Having a ranged weapon really helps in the Ice area, especially for flying enemies and certain enemies like the Bison that charge you when struck. I would recommend the Crossbow most of all. It's also important to learn what enemies to target first in a room, such as the Ice Wizards and the Banshee. For the boss, having a weapon like Tigerkwondo that can destroy ice shards in a zone around you is very helpful in combination with a strong ranged weapon. After that it's just dodging and learning the attack patterns. If you are taking a lot of damage eat food and use accessories that buff Max Health, Defense, and Evasion. Good luck and I hope those tips help!
also, take note that the ice boss will be stunned when you destroy the 4 ice blocks. the boss is stunned for a good while but resumes combat after taking a set number of hits. Use this time to hit with a high damage weapon in order to take out the most hp. LIke Relmer said, having a ranged weapon makes this easy as you can stand at a safe distance to easily dodge the ice shards, (or use a fast melee weapon with a wide area of attack to destroy ice shards flying at you. once you get used to that, the boss litterally becomes as easy as the first one.
@@Omniceye Just want to say that the boss is stunned until you deal 25% of it's health in damage. I found this out because the ice lance auto attack happens at 50% health and it always starts happening right as the boss stops being stunned and that the stun time changed based on the total amount of damage I was doing and not the number of hits.
@@puddinplaysgames9397 thanks for clarifying. I thought for sure it was number of hits, as I tended to get more dmg out of using big hitters. But it definitely makes more sense and now I won't have the anticipation of her surviving the last few hits hahaha

The big combo is Wings + Spring Shoes to get a permanent 50% damage increase. Beyond that I look for items like Charm of Madness to further boost my power or Gold Candy to move faster. I hope that answer helps.

NG+ stands for "New Game Plus" and it means I am starting a new game but I get to carry over all my levels, abilities, and a couple items. This makes for the fastest speedrun category.
1 I keep thinking you have stamina for some reason. 2 don't know why but it's kind of cute when you dash. 3 the run would have been faster if you skipped chests. Food shop is fine but chests made you gain like 10 extra seconds over all maybe more.

The Criminal Sillouette outfit I am wearing makes me deal more damage based on the number of items in my inventory. I open chests to fill up my inventory as fast as possible. That is also why I buy cheap items from the shop. I hope that answers your question.
In older versions of the game, like the version used in this speedrun, each zone had two dungeon floors and one boss floor for a total of three floors. In the newest version of the game the number of floors in each zone is only two; one dungeon and one boss floor. I hope this clarification helps you understand the run better!
tbh ... this speed run is like if you would start any game at the endboss ... you had everything unlocked ... which is technically not the beginning of the game thus is your run invalid
That is fair. There are a few mistakes in execution in the beginning which can be cleaned up. I think a time under 10 minutes is possible with similar luck but better execution. Maybe next time :)
Nibbler Hubbla world record for super Mario odyssey was once 6 hours, it only gets lower if there’s people to lower it and right now this is the fastest time which makes it a world record
@@cet2838 That's the dumbest common counter argument Ive ever heard. You dont need to be able to do it better to gain the ability to fucking use our eyes and brain. The author isnt even that devoted to getting the best time possible since he cares more about consistency (which I hardly can blame him for because theres a shit load of rng involved) but thats just a fact and it sort of ruins the feeling of a world record run. The execution simply wasnt that impressive either and all you need to judge it is to know the character's possibilities and game mechanics. You dont need to be able to do it better.
Hey! In previous versions of the game the Red Pickaxe and the Criminal Outfit were much stronger. Your attacks were very powerful but if you got hit 1 or 2 times you would be dead. I hope that answers your question!

That is correct. Spring Shoes are a 0/10 item normally but become a 10/10 item with Wings.

You are correct. Newer updates of the game changed how the floors work. Each zone only has two levels; one dungeon level and one boss level.

Leslie's health for phase 2 and 3 remained at the 10% mark instead of healing. is this due to the fast attack killing before he healed?
That is correct. In this older version of the game Lasley's healing is on a timer and the faster you can kill the enemies the less health he gets.

This category uses in game time as displayed on the "Adventure Success" screen. I also run a real time timer so I can track progress while running.

Secret Map was removed from this version of the game and the item has it's own (obsolete) speedrun category. It is banned, in a sense.

The weapon is Red Pickaxe. Max health is lost with every item i pickup and put in my inventory due to the costume I am wearing, Criminal Silhouette.

The Red Pickaxe is faster in older versions of the game. This version is 6.23 (20180623), before the item got nerfed. Good catch!

The Criminal Sillouette outfit I am wearing makes me deal more damage based on the number of items in my inventory. I open chests to fill up my inventory as fast as possible. That is also why I buy cheap items from the shop. I hope that answers your question.

When you go into boss doors and end up doing more rooms on the same floor. bad fake...
In older versions of the game, like the version used in this speedrun, each zone had two dungeon floors and one boss floor for a total of three floors. In the newest version of the game the number of floors in each zone is only two; one dungeon and one boss floor. I hope this clarification helps you understand the run better!

tbh ... this speed run is like if you would start any game at the endboss ... you had everything unlocked ... which is technically not the beginning of the game thus is your run invalid

This is a NG+ (New Game Plus) speedrun so you can start with anything the game can legally provide. This category is the fastest category.

That is fair. There are a few mistakes in execution in the beginning which can be cleaned up. I think a time under 10 minutes is possible with similar luck but better execution. Maybe next time :)

Nibbler Hubbla world record for super Mario odyssey was once 6 hours, it only gets lower if there’s people to lower it and right now this is the fastest time which makes it a world record

@@cet2838 That's the dumbest common counter argument Ive ever heard. You dont need to be able to do it better to gain the ability to fucking use our eyes and brain. The author isnt even that devoted to getting the best time possible since he cares more about consistency (which I hardly can blame him for because theres a shit load of rng involved) but thats just a fact and it sort of ruins the feeling of a world record run. The execution simply wasnt that impressive either and all you need to judge it is to know the character's possibilities and game mechanics. You dont need to be able to do it better.

Hey! In previous versions of the game the Red Pickaxe and the Criminal Outfit were much stronger. Your attacks were very powerful but if you got hit 1 or 2 times you would be dead. I hope that answers your question!
