When the fabric is wet it absorbs the dye more and can make it more vibrant! I also typically leave my dye in for 24 hours before I rinse with cold water! You could try red again and it would make it look like it has "layers" or dye! Some lighter, some darker!
^^^ This! We dyed a bunch of stuff in HS and it was always wet and we SATURATED the fabric with like twice as much dye then was recommended and left it for like a day to a day and a half-- especially for thicker fabrics
For the 49ers I would make it kind of a sunset tie-dye by adding yellow and red. I would dye while it is wet and leave it for 24 hrs before washing! I think it would be really cute that way!
I love how much more confident you seem in your videos than when I first started watching you like 2 years ago! I started watching for your crazy story times but stayed because of your amazing personality!
that beanie gives me hella Meghan Hughes vibes. I mean you're both icons so that makes sense. PS I def don't think that tie dye was a fail! I'm sad you don't like it but maybe it will grow on you ❤️
Shelbizleee omg two icons ! Wanted to say I love your channel so much I keep learning so much !!! Your approach is so hand-on and achievable and I love that.
For the 49ers sweatshirt I recommend if your going to tie dye it again to use the rit dye and leaving it in for longer I’ve found with red the tie dye kits never really achieve a vibrant red.
I love this!! We are all there with you. My little sisters always complain that I crop everything too short, I just have a short torso!! I loved watching this.
First sweatshirt: Totally do it again! It'd be cool to have the different tones of "red" haha, make sure it's more concentrated and what not. Also bleach tye dye : Beautiful, I feel like I'd wanna crop it. Not a super crop but a cute loungey crop.
for the bottom of that dress you can try putting in a waist band (very beginner sewing skills needed) and just wear it a little lower and that might fix your problem of it being too short as a dress but give the same effect as a two piece
I love how relatable you are, definitely never apologize for not being “perfectly polished.” It makes you just so enjoyable to watch and feels like you’re talking to viewers like friends. ❤️❤️
Omg! That crop top is the absolute cutest and like you said, you could put that bow in your hair (learn to sew) and put elastic on the top of the left over fabric to make a skirt, that would be so trendy! I’m inspired! I love these types of videos! Please make so many more!
I love slappin’ some patches onto shit. Just instantly elevates it and makes it so cute! I want to get an embroidery machine so bad for this same reason!
If think you will be more comfortable with a sewing machine, rather than trying to learn to handstitch, may I recommend the Singer ONE. This is the machine I have! It has an automatic needle threader and is so user friendly. I, as a severely visually impaired individual, THRIVE with this machine. It is top notch! Good luck on your sewing journey!
You should make a matching skirt with the leftover fabric from the dress! Since it wouldn't go up as high it might be the perfect length and you already know it fits! And you get to show just a little midriff.
I've been doing this too! I have started a new bin in the bottom of my closet - next to the donation bin is a bin where I put the items that are like "hmm, I love the idea of this, but for some reason I never reach for it" and those are the items I flip! That way they are perfect for me 💕
Doesn’t matter for hats as much but when I use iron on patches I always do a lil extra stitch around the edges or at least the corners - keeps it more secure if you’re washing the garment!
For tie dying sometimes it just depends on the fabric your clothing is made of. Usually the more cotton in the material the better. Also wetting it first helps. Or I’ve also heard that soaking it in soda ash helps make the colors more vibrant as well. Maybe you can try that rit brand since you’re only using one color but I would def try it again. Practice makes perfect lol
I feel like the dress that was cropped into a tank top would make a cute 2 piece set. (and an easy sewing project 😉) it would be a cute skirt and all you need is some elastic sewn into the skirt!
You should turn the rest of the purple fabric into a matching skirt when you learn how to sew. Or ask Jessica to turn it into a skirt or shorts to match the top
for the 49ers sweatshirt, you could try reverse tie dying/bleaching the sweatshirt to add another color (test a part of the sweatshirt inside to see what color you'll end up with) OR if you are using the tie dye kit i think you are, it should have come with black so maybe mix some of the black power in with the red tie dye to darken, tie dye it again and leave it for way longer!
I had the same thing happen to me w the red dye -- but I mean it’s cute. Either wear it as pajamas or even try maybe a diff color and tie dye it again. just go for it
I have been tie dyeing and selling shirts lately so I definitely recommend soaking the shirt first and instead of just squirting a little bit out like that place it in the spots you want it and put more dye, I think it was probably just not enough die to get the color you want because it fades a lot once it’s rinsed out and washed!
I actually LOVE both tie dye projects! I think the 49ers sweater's accents and logo would be lost if it was a brighter red and I love that peachy colour! The bleaching totally rocks too and I'm so inspired! Great work :D
best advice for tie dying. no matter what, get it wet. ALWAYS RUBBER BAND IT. and after you’re done dying put it in a plastic back (walmart bag) and tie it off. let it sit for 48 HOURS!! then rinse it in VERY COLD WATER! then wash BY ITSELF with COLD WATER on your gentle cycle. i’ve done it every time i tie dye and it always comes out great!
Not related to your clothing escapades, but it would be fun for you to spray paint your clothing rack! A pop of gold or black would look amazing behind you there 🙂
Love the purple crop and the sweatshirt ! You look awesome in hats . Totally wish I could pull them off . Have you thought about doing bleach on jeans ? Or maybe a bleach tie dye and then a second step of a colour after ? How’s Layla doing ?
I would add like a blue to the 49ers and make it look more intentional! But it would have to be the right shade. But I really don’t think it looks bad as is I would wear that
I would suggest trying another color for the tie dye. IF it is vibrant red, it may blend with the red striping and the logo and it might not look great, but it could still turn out fine.
You don't know how badly I wish we were friends irl. I am the exact same size as you and 23 and you are deff an older sister type of role model. I love how fashionable and trendy you are and how unapologetic you are about your size. You've deff helped me with my body image and confidence and I'm so glad I found your channel
OMG your bleach tie dye turned out like mine! Glad I'm not the only one this happened to and thought I messed up 😂. I was so disappointed it didn't work because the fabric just looked wet, but when I took it out of the dryer it had a super cute design and kinda gives me camo vibes (I did it on a light olive green sweatshirt). That beanie though *chefs kiss* So frickin cute!
That dress would make an awesome two piece set!!! You should see if Alexa or a seamstress can turn that into a skirt and just wear with some belly showing. So cute! I love the purple.
I "flipped" a bunch of old yoga pants into biker shorts by cutting them and it was a life changer!! Even had some with holes in the lower leg, cut them into shorts and theyre perfect again!
I've found that bleach "tie dye" works better with low splash bleach (the one that is thicker consistency), I recently did this on a forest green t-shirt (also, I did let it out in the sun for about an hour) and it turned out great! The bleached patterns turned almost true white, I loved it and can't wait to try it again.... I'm just waiting for the thrift shops to open again so I can go and stock on vintage t-shirts 🙏😭
that purple cardigan you're wearing is GORGEOUS
also goodness I AM HONORED TO BE MENTIONED AS A GOOD THRIFT FLIPPER 😭
Um- excuse me- quarantine video call collab please... or multiple....?!?
ALEXA turn the bottom of the purple dress into a skirt for Carrie ❤
What does drew so for work

I like the peachy with the red. I think it makes it look more vintage and it’s cute. Don’t feel bad, I would wear it!

That will be so cute
Dude I bought a sewing machine second hand on facebook marketplace last week so this free skillshare trial is VERY clutch thank u queen!
Ahhhh good luck!!! 💗💗💗
I low-key like how the tie dye came out!
I love how much more confident you seem in your videos than when I first started watching you like 2 years ago! I started watching for your crazy story times but stayed because of your amazing personality!
I love this! I recently bought a $10 zip up hoodie on amazon and ironed on a patch from Etsy. Little crafts like this bring me joy :)
I had so much anxiety for your floor while you were tie dying 😂
Lol I’m the worst 😂😂😂
I had anxiety over the ironing on the floor with no towel or anything underneath the clothing item to protect the floor lol
I was like “waaaaaaait the ruuuuug” 😂
that beanie gives me hella Meghan Hughes vibes. I mean you're both icons so that makes sense.
PS I def don't think that tie dye was a fail! I'm sad you don't like it but maybe it will grow on you ❤️

I love your channel, you've inspired me so much!
the 49ers sweatshirt is actually cute!

This is a GREAT idea thank you!!!
You have to go all in now with that tie dye, all colors.
i’d LOVE to see videos of you learning to sew!! could be a good project for quarantine if you can get a machine delivered!
love the RED bleach tie dye!!!
I love how the bleach tie-dye sweatshirt turned out, so cute!
I love this!! We are all there with you. My little sisters always complain that I crop everything too short, I just have a short torso!! I loved watching this.
Hahaha yes definitely bored!! Cute outfits :) I have to try it!!
That lilac cardigan looks SO good with your skin tone and hair!! Omg I saw it when you got it but it’s so so so cute on you! 💕
where is it from?
First sweatshirt: Totally do it again! It'd be cool to have the different tones of "red" haha, make sure it's more concentrated and what not.

This is such a fun idea! I'm going to try this on some of my clothes too!
You should make a matching skirt with the leftover fabric from the dress! Since it wouldn't go up as high it might be the perfect length and you already know it fits! And you get to show just a little midriff.

Love that beanie and the red bleached sweatshirt! So cute! I have never used red tye dye so you're brave for that! lol
The red bleach sweatshirt and the patches on the hats came out the best! super cute!!
The crop top was the cutest thing !!
Doesn’t matter for hats as much but when I use iron on patches I always do a lil extra stitch around the edges or at least the corners - keeps it more secure if you’re washing the garment!
My favorite Diys were the beanies and the lavender crop top they were simple and so cute ❤
I loooove the color of the 49ers sweatshirt. I love ththe peach with the red and the tiedye came out looking marbled it looks so good
I think the 49ers sweatshirt turned out cute! I know it isnt exactly what you wanted, but I like the faded look :)
My mom has the same iron and it's older than me! 😂 Love you Carrie!!
Honestly - I would watch you organise your pantry or clean your car at the moment... always great to check in with what you are up to!!
yes queen!!! i’ve been wanting to make a video like this!

EEEEE!!!! Saturday morning coffee and a Carrie video!!!! 😍
ive never been this early to any video lol this is fun! hahaha excited to watch
same!!

LOVE the bleach sweatshirt and the wine plz 😍

I'm 23 and JUST learned to sew. I beleive in you!
Yea!! CARRIE. Ive been sooo bored too ive started watching all ur videos and I LOVE UR CHANNEL
me too lol!!
Thank you for all of the videos QUEEN!! The vlog videos and main channel videos keep me entertained and sane :)♥
This is a great idea, I tried a little thrift flip with one of my tank tops that had a thred issue in 1 strap
had to comment before watching this all the way through just to say: GIRL your cardigan is gorgeous
I bought a sewing machine and taught myself in a day. TH-cam helps. It’s pretty easy to get the basics down.
I really liked the first sweatshirt!
The 49ers other color is gold, maybe you could incorporate some yellow to give it more of an intentional look? 💛
I dyed my tops twice (vid on my channel) and the pink ones came out with way more shades I’d def recommend
I’m in love with your sweater!
So fun. I definitely want to try the bleach tie dye now.
best advice for tie dying. no matter what, get it wet.
I think the red jumper was my favourite x
Bleach dying is my jam!
I liked the 49ers sweatshirt! I thought it turned out cool lol!
I think adding blue and/or purple to the red tie dye would be pretty cute
Not related to your clothing escapades, but it would be fun for you to spray paint your clothing rack! A pop of gold or black would look amazing behind you there 🙂
Skill share has sewing courses! You should check them out!!
I love how real you always are ❤️
Love the purple crop and the sweatshirt ! You look awesome in hats . Totally wish I could pull them off . Have you thought about doing bleach on jeans ? Or maybe a bleach tie dye and then a second step of a colour after ? How’s Layla doing ?
I actually really like the red tie dye lol thought you did a great job
I would add like a blue to the 49ers and make it look more intentional! But it would have to be the right shade. But I really don’t think it looks bad as is I would wear that
It would be so cute to make shorts or a skirt out of that extra purple fabric to make it a two piece set 😍
I would suggest trying another color for the tie dye. IF it is vibrant red, it may blend with the red striping and the logo and it might not look great, but it could still turn out fine.
You can use the bottom of the dress as an infinity scarf!
For the 49ers sweatshirt you could try adding black maybe? Anyway. That was fun!❤
if u add black to the 49s crewneck it will save it bro! but tape over the 49s logo with duck tape the cleanest u can so it doesnt soak the logo ✨
Your perfect. You keep rocking new styles
I say try rainbow tie dye on the San Fran shirt, I think it would look super cute!
Yesss
I love your stripey pj pants!
That last sweatshirt looks sooo much like Ross’ sweater from season 7 and I’m here for it😍😍😍😍😍😍
Hi Carrie!! Love your videos! Thanks for being amazing!
I agree!
I always soak my stuff before I tie dye. And leave it sit in a plastic bag for a couple days to cure before I rinse out.
please do more thrift flips ! love
you !
I think the 49ers one looks good!
You can use the bottom of the dress to make a matching scrunchie
I have that same iron, it was my inheritance from my grandma when she passed!
You don't know how badly I wish we were friends irl. I am the exact same size as you and 23 and you are deff an older sister type of role model. I love how fashionable and trendy you are and how unapologetic you are about your size. You've deff helped me with my body image and confidence and I'm so glad I found your channel
Rainbow dye the jumper and just wear it to a rainbow fun run, where you get covered in dry dye anyway.
Girl, I LOVE that sweatshirt! We love some peach accents🍑🍑🍑
I love that bleach tie-dye! I would actually buy it if I saw it in a store! 😅
That dress would make an awesome two piece set!!! You should see if Alexa or a seamstress can turn that into a skirt and just wear with some belly showing. So cute! I love the purple.
I "flipped" a bunch of old yoga pants into biker shorts by cutting them and it was a life changer!! Even had some with holes in the lower leg, cut them into shorts and theyre perfect again!
i learned how to use photoshop from skillshare! highly recommend!
You can TOTALLY turn the rest of that dress into some flowy shorts!
Very cool sweatshirt!
Omg I want that wine sweater! Such a cute idea 🥰
Small youtuber here 👋🏼
Maybe Add yellow to the 49ers sweatshirt so possibly it helps it look closer to their colors
Moo is LIFE 🐱♥️
I've found that bleach "tie dye" works better with low splash bleach (the one that is thicker consistency), I recently did this on a forest green t-shirt (also, I did let it out in the sun for about an hour) and it turned out great! Omg same! Lol and doing projects doesnt always have to be perfect hahaha love u sis!! Stay safe :)
