The rule about line of sight seems a bit silly. If the video feed is lost the drone will normally return to home automatically anyway. Most drones that can fly further than 50 meters already have this function. Many people like to wear the goggles and there are many places that could be explored if this wasn't a rule.
I dunno if you respond to comments but I've got a question about the 30m rule, it says unless the other people are helping control or navigate the drone, what if you are taking turns flying with friends, so while you're doing it, they aren't technically navigating or controlling it, but they are aware of the drone and have/will navigate it when it's their turn.
There is nothing at all in the regulations that prevent you from flying above a person. They simply say stay 30m away, and don't fly over populous areas, which are areas with "sufficient density of population" that your drone could injure someone if it falls. A single person would not fall within this definition. This is a typical example of a regulatory authority "interpreting" the Govt's regulations, and doing a bad job of it - adding more rules of their own that are not in the Govt's regulations. If the Govt wanted to say you can't fly over a single person, they would have clearly said so - but in both Reg.101.238(c) and in Reg.101.245(1) the Govt has repeatedly only required that the drone not be operated "within 30 metres of a person".
You can use that function but you just must be "able" to see drone when you need to. You don't need to watch it at all times or using a mavic for filming would be impossible. So yes you can use the follow me function. But make sure you have a plan of what to do if you need to take control. It could be argued that you can't keep an eye on it when riding but if you have a friend riding also behind keeping eye on it that would satisfy the requirements of this video.
According to your legislation CASR 1998, micro RPA’s are excluded from the Sub section 101.F that deals with the 30 mtr rule, so therefore the rule doesn’t apply? This video is based on legislation, so again some parts don’t apply to 249g drones.

I’m pretty sure if you have their permission you could I’m not exactly sure but I think you can
