    These leap enclosures are a pretty cool idea. At one point I had 17 species of dart frogs. Most were housed in 20 gallon aquariums with custom glass lids drilled for spray nozzles. I also had 4, 10 gallon tanks converted to vertical enclosures and one 75 gallon tank partitioned down the middle. The 20 and 10 gallon tanks were on bakers racks and due to their weight the shelves needed additional support which meant adding plywood. The opposite side of the room was 20 crested geckos housed in 20 gallon tanks turned on end with window screens doors on the front. Unfortunately I sold my house and everything had to go. But I have the itch again and these Leap Habitats are on the list of potential enclosures. Thanks for the great videos!
    Cheers,
    Greg

    Fantastic Frank! I'd love to see some other species being kept in the leap habitats. Excited to give them a try someday.

    Very sweet, those cages are slick.
    Have you tried them with williamsi? Do they find their way between the front mesh and flexible plastic substrate container?

      Adults don’t but babies would.

      I can personally attest that my mourning geckos find their way in between the mesh and substrate container. It's not something I'm overly concerned about since they can get back into the main enclosure whenever they feel like it and it honestly makes it easier to check on them and see how they are doing. Not something I particularly want them doing though 🤣

    Getting excited for the release! Been waiting to get a new misting system, may have to pull the trigger soon. Where did you get the polypropylene to cover the screen? I could use something like that. Thanks!

      I got it directly from Leap. Hopefully they will be providing that as an option to purchase soon!

    When will the leap habitat be launched

  • @TropicsInGlass
    @TropicsInGlass 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you need to make any modifications to keep enclosure fly proof? I'm thinking about buying one as an upgrade for a group of ranitomeya but I'm worried that flies might easily escape.

    • @LivingArtbyFrankPayne
      @LivingArtbyFrankPayne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only openings are the screen top and front panel. Melanogaaster could pass through the screen but not hydei. You could cover the screen with plastic/glass or fly proof screen if.

  • @lacerobinson23
    @lacerobinson23 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Where do you get the plastic that goes on top of the screen? I need to do the same with my dart frog enclosure to keep the humidity.

      Home Depot or lowes will have some. Leap will also be making a fitted accessory for that as well.

    Are fruit flies able to escape this enclosure?

    • @LivingArtbyFrankPayne
      @LivingArtbyFrankPayne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Melanogaster can crawl through the gaps in the screen but there are no gaps or crevices they can escape from such as in exo terra/zoo med/zilla enclosures.
