Essentially they need to take the Yakuza or `Like a Dragon` Approach, make the games more packed with things todo in say a small town then think they need to have entirely new towns and what not. I could name alot of old games but take for example the megaman battlenetwork series as a `recent one` thanks to its legacy collection. Because the majority of the events take in a small town, alot of events tend to revisit the same old places, sometimes even having two `major` story events in the same place, just in a different part of said place, such as SciLabs. Pokemon could easily take this approach by instead of having an elite four, gym leaders and pokemon league, it could be just an unofficial group between `small gangs` of sorts in a semi-rural or urban part of a town where only if someone manages to take down thar leader in a match, then you get to choose what they do, which in a typical story fashion could be to get them to stop causing trouble or something, until at the end you end up facing the `top dog` who beat them before and either annoyed about some hotshot, gets impressed at your skill or could just be one of your friends who wanted to get away from his past, but a fire got stirred in him to take up battling again because of you. Ultimately, it would be nice if pokemon took more of a simple story approach, because if it wants to go with a more friendly and washed down approach with effectively no real antagonists and no real `evil` teams at all, which scarlet/violet really went DEEP on that specifically, then having it feel more like your typical saturday morning cartoon would be better. Plus they could go plenty of ways this directions such as emphasizing more on doing tasks for others as your way to acquire money and other kinds of resources instead of trying to ham-fist a terrible crafting system for only TMs or put a reason to bring back Legend Arceus`s crafting system by your town having no actual pokemart so you make use of simple remedies and DIY pokeballs (just like gold/silver that started that trend) and could even money entirely, focusing more on a barter system if its in a more rural like location where most of the `pleasantries` of technology would not be present. Also be a fun way to have a semi-amish like experience with pokemon focusing more on getting stuff done yourself to push a `real` open world experience. Granted, probably helps that Palworld kind of got released and it going for that monster catching+survival aspect is just resonating well with me, on how i would think Pokemon should be more like if it really wants to embrace an open world style, having it get more away from its systematic design and be an `actual` open world experience, if they cant stick to the linear approach that allows more graphical wowzers and impressions. But overall openworld really just kicks some shins in and take the `lazy` approach of having to skip alot of work to craft a good story and craft a good artstyle in favor of what could be a mostly procedurally generated world and put it more into the players hands to have fun in the sandbox then making an actual sanvich for the players to enjoy, aka literally just handing the pre-packaged ingredients or building blocks then presenting the finished structure to them.
@@BladeSerph they need to keep doing whats working. making changes like going back to 2d will be a reason for me to stop buying the titles.. im playing because they are open world and 3d now.
@@Only_Some Yeesh 9+ month dated response hitting them zombie posts nyeh? Good thing im actually bored right now. What they could easily do is split it up into 2 pathways: One that focuses on the older style and could probably be a smidge cheaper probably going back to 2D or 2.5D style aka how some people did Pokemon Gen 1 in OCTOPATH TRAVELER STYLE to show the potential value that game could have by expanding on pixel artstyle more then simply having 3D models for the sake of 3D models. The other pathway they could take while they have a `indie department` do those pixel-style games would be ones that focus more on making pokemon look better, but could honestly STEP BACK by first focusing on remaking the older titles, taking advantage of a smaller roster of pokemon (and character models) to fix up and use those improved models also in the next game while brushing up more pokemon and improving upon the previous title as the focus instead of focusing so much on gimmickie one time things. Though mega evolution was the start of it, i would say the major problem was they kept repeating that formula so often they watered it down to lazyness: -Mega evolutions had the pokemon get sizable different appearances which despite being the same pokemon still, allowed them to breath and let older ones shine by having a strong mega evolution to make them stand out. -Z moves despite being overly flashie had the advantage of unique tactical moves when combined with others, such as maybe having a certain stat boosting crazy Z-move get baton passed to a power house, just like using ability exchanging/altering/shut-down moves on power houses restricted by a bad ability to make them a menance. -Dynamax & Tera-lyze? Basically the same thing since it was just a scale up of a model and assets attached to both of them, just one focused more on the stats and the other just focused on the typing, which just like Mega & Z-moves, got thrown out the window too fast and the games could of became far more interesting in the competitive/challenge-mode scene if they had in POST GAME, the ability to use all those various super moves to spice things up to make it extra fun. Which im very sure people would rather the same crap that pokemon showdown been able to put in, then have retardedly done things like a sanvich pic-nic minigame which cant even freaking animate eating bread despite LOADS of the previous pokemon games could implement you feeding poffins/berry-blocks/sweets/etc. to pokemon when all they have todo is a bare minimum eating SFX and part of the sanvich disappearing over a several second lapse instead of a stupid power point presentation that is so pathetic i think people would rather a EMPTY SPOON EATING SOUP/STEW animation from Pokemon Sword/Shield instead. One can only hope once Pokemon Z-A arrives, they DO NOT use the god damn design direction of Scarlet/Violet, just use improved models of legends arceus and the mainline game just goes back to the same style they used in sword/shield also, since Scarlet/Violet when compared to the pokemon new horizons anime is just war too freaking jarring in a difference comparison. Oh and if they atleast go back to the older games, then maybe they could also spend the freaking time to properly animate trees and foliage instead of the terribly done assets that scarlet/violet had to where even Legends Arceus had better textures compared to that crap.
When it switched to 'open world', there was a massive decline in artistic quality. The trainers look completely designed on a PC, no art/design whatsoever. The new Pokemon displease me also
GameFreak also needs a sense of Art Direction and stock with 1 art style considering each gen they keep switching Art Styles not to mention the map looks straight out of the PS2 era the graphics need to up to par with Breath of the Wild where it looks good and is eye candy.
Open worlds are extremely costly to design and fill with interesting features. They're very difficult to develop, model, and texture compared to making numerous tightly designed and more linear areas. @@UltraBall23
I’m with you friend… some of these new Pokemon are dreadful… like the vacuum Pokémon. I mean cmon they practically taking house hold items and slapping eyes on them and calling them Pokemon. They should consider more fan art.
Also the graphics. They can make good looking linear areas but when its open... yeah. Look at ballonlea in SwSh it's actually pleasing to look at. Then look at scarlet and violet or the wild area from the same game...
Personally, what I would like the most is if they figure out a way to balance both styles: there’s areas that are open world, and routes between them. Something more like PLA but you actually travel through routes to reach each “zone.” PLAs zones were just better executed than SCVI’s world(as were most things beyond the story ngl but that’s another conversation), so if they were to improve that system I think making routes between them would be a natural progression anyway. It just feels unlikely considering
@@mikesz2340 No, SwSh had a wild area with routes around it and basically separate from it altogether. What I’m saying is rather than one big wild area, we had multiple smaller ones separated from each other that you then travel to by going through more traditional routes. Something more like what you’d see in some FF games or the old 3D Zeldas. Edit: One of the criticisms of the wild area both in the base game and dlc was how poorly the transition between different biomes was done, the format I’m talking about actually avoids this altogether by using routes as focused points of transition.
@@hephsforge9236 I literally have nothing nice or constructive to say at this point. The new Pokemon games might not be perfect but they are the best I've played and I've been around since the beginning. People are too critical and have no idea what they want I feel bad for game devs nowadays cuz tryna keep up with the demands of these gaming snobs must seem like an impossible thing to do. And with that, I'm out.
@@mikesz2340 My dude, calm down. I’m not being critical here, I’m just saying what I personally think would be a cool way to go about combining the open world and traditional gameplay style. It’s not that deep. Like, seriously stop assuming what I’m saying here and read it. Literally all I did was explain where my idea differed from SWSH and you act like I’m leading a hate campaign against GF. We are all fans here and having things you personally want out of a series you like is not being a snob, it’s being a human being. You might as well hop onto every fakemon and region video and say what you said.
For me, it mostly depends on if there will be level scaling in the future. If they don't have level scaling like the gyms and other boss fights in SV, then I want them to at least encourage a certain order for those battles based on levels. If they do implement some kind of level scaling, I'm fine with the open world design.
@DK24S that doesn't fix the problem of no level scaling, though. There is a logical order based on levels for the gyms, bases, and titans, but the game doesn't indicate that in any way. I'm just saying that if there is no level scaling for the major battles, I want some in-game indication of what order to do them.
@DK24S true. I wish they would go back to the gen 6 exp share so we could turn it off. I like the exp share since I don't have to grind like I did before gen 6, but I also will admit that it is too easy to accidentally overlevel in the past couple generations since it's always on.
idk maybe? that or give them actual time to make the games and properly polish them instead of stupid strict deadlines but that how i feel about modern gaming entirely. clueless investors wanting money now rather then taking the proper time to make a game and fix all the bugs they can and release it when its ready
My comment is late, but I want them to focus more on a cohesive narrative, and more on the supporting cast. I actually thought Penny, Arven and Namona were just getting started as friends... and then it stopped. I'd like to see Pokemon go all Final Fantasy - even if it's just once - to see how that turns out. You can still have open areas or whatever - i don't really care - but I want to participate in a real Pokemon story for once. There's so much more you can do with this concept that you can't do with just 1 player character, like double battles and each member catching their own team, and using different partner Pokemon from your friends to solve puzzles and interact with the environment, etc. You can also have more explorable caves, ruins, and things like that. You can even do survival zones where you have limited access to items and can't switch Pokemon to make the journey more dangerous.
I'd say no, outside of remakes (of course). I love the freedom that an open world allows that a more linear approach just doesn't and I think once the move is made to open world they simply can't go back, this is the natural next step and they've been leading up to this for years, ever since Sword and Shield they have been been testing the waters with each new release improving on the concept and that's really what they need to keep doing, for the next gen they should improve on the concept and make it even better. The only downside for me is the fact you can't enter any of the house aside from yours and your rivals though from datamining we actually know they were planning to allow us to enter houses as they modeled interiors that are still in the code but they most likely just ran out of time as I imagine the focus was on the world itself and making it as big as it possibly could be, which makes sense though it is a shame but perhaps for the next gen this is something they could address, maybe even making it like Zelda where when you enter a house there is no transition, you just walk through the door and you're inside which would be fantastic if that does happen, I'd love that! So Pokemon shouldn't take a step back from open world, they should just improve upon it and make it even better!
I feel like thats a sentiment I can't quite agree with. I feel like only doing open world games would get super stale at a certain point, and also alienate a ton of players. I think instead of taking one set path with each game (either 2d or 3d) it would actually probably be better to mix it up every so often, so we arent just getting the same thing over and over again. I feel like the surprise of a game you arent expecting is better than just knowing Its gonna be the same again.
@ZacharyBecker I feel the same way the biomes in Paldea felt so bland heck the biomes in Pokemon Legends Arceus is miles better even in Monster Hunter Stories 2 the biomes felt more alive then S/V.
I think it’d be cool if they did smtg like Dragon Quest where you could switch between the styles, or maybe some games in 2D while others in 3D. A couple years ago i would’ve said yes but i really love what Legends and SV did for the 3D formula
The more open the content of the game is, the more generic it often has to be. Take the NPCs in Breath of the Wild compared to the ones in Majora's Mask. This sort of problem of quantity extends to all aspects of open world games, and I really doubt Game Freak would be able to overcome these challenges when few other studios have. That said, I don't think the games need to return to DS/Gameboy levels of grid-based movement and exploration. I would much rather a range of smaller, dynamic areas with multiple dimensions of exploration than a sprawling, flat wasteland. Imagine a 'route' as a 3D space similar to the kinds of zones you'd see in Wind Waker or Ocarina of Time, bounded by entrances and exits but allowing free movement. This kind of limited open space could allow the player to uniquely traverse obstacles by utilising their pokemon to climb rocks and trees, swim across water, or withsand extreme temperatures. You might not notice some of these alternate paths until returning with a different team later in the game, so different players will have different experiences that capitalise on the Pokemon they've decided to take with them. It's still restricted exploration, but I'd argue it's a needed evolution from the archaic 'exploration' of the older games which was often limited to a handful of obvious HM obstacles and simple mechanics like one-way cliffs. This integration of Pokemon into the problem solving and exploration could apply to cities and NPCs too. Certain problems such as blocked paths, NPCs in need of rescue, and trecharous quests to find rumoured Pokemon/Items could all require that the player train pokemon or an entire team to take on the job. Edit: To be clear, the reason I think this approach wouldn't work with an open world format is because it would be hugely more difficult to design and wouldn't necessarily be more fun. I think they could achieve more by limiting the openness and aiming for open zones instead.
I feel they should make the routes open world and the towns can somewhat be linear mixed with open with a 360 camera but a loading area for the towns. Reason I believe they should divide the towns seperate from the routes is because the music of course but performance. Plus this would open the door for literally having an interior design for buildings and make the NPC more life-like instead of being a dead NPC stuck on a set path. Like if it's raining let them pull out an umbrella. If you're facing a gym leader you could have the crowd gradually increase and cheer with more diverse cheering emotes and once the battle ends if you win or lose the crowd does a clapping animation instead of just stuck in a prefixed cheering animation(looking at you SV). Off topic: A hope I do have for in the future we keep S/Vs character face customization but we get can choose our clothes and eventually earn NPC clothes/emotes that we like by beating a set amount of times or just talking to them/doing a mini side quest. S/V dropped the ball in the fashion department(Base game) for us to just look like some random boy/girl scout meanwhile Penny gets to look more fashionable and Nemona has her phanny pack and battle glove. Even the teachers look better than us.😢
i don't think pokemon is ready to make the jump to full open world yet, and while i do prefer 2D if they're insistent on going 3D they need to take a step back and get a better grip with designing 3D environments for the series, ones that have all those little sidepaths and crannies and hidden areas that the series used to be great with, even if the areas they're designing for that need to be scaled down in the interrim, exploration was a major part of the experience of the games that they need to learn how to put them in the new world format before they keep making bigger worlds.
The difference with SV and Zelda is the care to the world. When I play botw or totk the world was always distracting me into doing something in the location I was at. Do I want to take this quest? Do I want to fight this monster? Do I want to discover secrets? Is there a shrine hidden somewhere? There is something to continue doing and how you tackle it is dependent on you. How you wanna fight a silly monster can be as goofy as possible or as badass as possible. Each region of the world was designed with a purpose. SV on the other hand was not. To not cat Pokémon in real time is a problem because having to stop to catch a Pokémon stops the flow, and having Pokémon not attack you is also a step back. There are no puzzles in a region, there are no interesting landscapes, there isn’t a unique way to tackle a specific location. Do I want to catch this Pokémon or this Pokémon? Really making me think hard about this. There are no side quests, the people in the world are lifeless, and the towns have no reason to explore. And that’s why these games are not good. They are designed with no care to the world. Having cool monsters to battle and catch should be fun, but the way it’s structured SV are boring and lifeless. It doesn’t matter if this was Pokémons first open world game. Make the best game possible whether it’s open world or not!!
Just make an HD/2D open world with more memorable locations than a single bamboo forest and a school, use level scaling and communicate to the player the difficulty (maximum levels of enemy Pokemon in certain quests) to make sure that they don't go into something underleveled, side quests, the ability to go into strangers' houses (I have no idea why they removed that one), no national dex to force the player to either use new Pokemon or go out of their comfort zone to use ones that they haven't tried using before, voice acting, hard difficulty, highly detailed sprites (fully animated in battle), and (apart from the gyms/trials) a linear storyline that gives you an incentive to explore the entirety of the region.
SV is just a bit more open than RGBY, so I don't think that GameFreak did something so groundbreaking in Gen IX. Going the extra mile by reintroducing multiple ride mons would be great. Either, the same way our Box Paradoxes get more abilities as they are given Herba Mystica, members of the party that used to be able to learn a certain HM should be able to traverse the map *without taking a move slot*, or they could be rented as they were in the Alola games. I mentioned it, bc HMs were best used in the Unova games, where they didn't make it harder for the PC to navigate the main route of the location, but they were almost a marker of other places we were able to go, such as the Axew cave being behind a river that should be crossed using Surf. This idea could be used to give us extra content in this era of hallway routes and empty rolling fields.
That probably will happen next Gen since they made the Pokémon syncro machine I’m pretty sure that’s where that will lead too because they can’t make bike ridable Pokémon every Gen
I love the open world but I do think there should be level scaling, and I miss the day and night cycle being synchronised with real-world time. I think Game Freak has found a good balance by making the main games open world while also releasing remakes that preserve the traditional style. I do like the comforting familiarity of traditional Pokémon and I'm glad that hasn't completely gone away.
Really good point about the routes. aside from the music, in older games certain specific locations were memorable because they were unique - chargestone cave in gen 5, snowbelle city in XY, even more simple routes like in BW2 were you had ton of puzzles to solve in them. in SV everything just blend in and its like "oh, another cave" and "yay, another desert or grassy area". it just isn't the same
Keep the open world, but the Pokemon closer to the actual routes are mostly common and behave passively like the ones in Scarlet and Violet. In contrast, the Pokemon further away from the routes, in the wilds are rarer and behave aggressively like the ones in Legends Arceus. Use trees or sandstorms or some other naturally occurring visual distinction to separate the routes from the wilds. So you have your linear path, but you can deviate from that path if you are skilled or stubborn enough.
I HEAVILY agree with the take on towns… I used to remember a lot of the towns in previous generations but I’ve played through gen 9 twice and can’t remember there names unless it has a significance to post game activities like comp battling
Ironically everything people are suggesting they do to fix the franchise, they did with Black and White, and those games reviewed poorly. So they switched gears to this new style (more story, gimmick, and open world) and I guess it's working
Id rather see a beautifully made linear experience than what we got with SV. The art style is just super basic and nothing feels like it actually fits in the game. Just models thrown in a program. I see walls on little hills and such deform and reform when you go in and out of distance constantly. Pretty bad..
It can stay 3d but a full open world just really doesnt work they need more distinct routes but u can keep the do something in any order but they need to do level scaling for that
Open world seemingly needs very little story & while SV is technically open world but the games are bad. For Pokemon due to level progression & difficulty I say Pokemon should be linear. Pokemon doesn't have time given to them plus the gym leaders & trainers as well everyone in the game would all have to have their Pokemon & their levels extremely diverse to adjust to the players' Pokemon
@@jimmyjohn6479 but that doesn't really help because unlike in games like skyrim or fallout the eneimes don't scale with your levels... So right now you could take on Grusha or Eri first but if you don't grind your team you get smashed and if you do you are forced to either rebuild your team for each gym battle (which is a struggle in and of itself with the new obedience limits tied to your badge total) or just stomp on everyone else in the game because you have level 50-60 Pokémon for the rest of the game.
I still think them making a sprite-based game on the Switch would be the best game we've had in a long time. With the updated tech, it could be the best damn sprites we've ever seen. The world could be so much more alive when they don't need to mess with 3D. And it would need way less power to run, so they could cram way more things into it. Maybe they could have us travel to all the old regions. They could have all the proper pokemon in each region, including Legendaries, so we won't need a boring post-game setup to catch them all. Maybe we could even pick which region to start in (assuming there isn't a brand new region). There could still be newer-style things like customizing your character sprite (now way more detailed), or having online play. I think having certain styles depending on your home region would be a neat detail when playing with others. SWSH had league cards we could customize to share our flair, so there could be similar things to represent our chosen starter region to other players. And of course, all pokemon would be available. No need to worry about lifeless models. They can be well animated sprites. And if they just want an excuse to sell DLC, they can have plenty of post-game aspects from old games function as that, instead of unlocking cut pokemon.
Pokemon should return to 2D since the pixels were more alive then the dead 3D Modela heck Fossil Fighters and Monster Hunter Stories 1 and 2 highly recommend checking them out Soul they r really fun but those 3D Models feel more alive and when I get into Game Design I want to work on 3D Models and make them more alive.
What I'm saying is since I kinda messed up basically the 3D Models in Monster Hunter Stories 1 and 2 and Fossil Fighters feel more alive then the ones in Pokemon.
I tried my best to think back and remember a single town name but…nope. I did like Iono’s town that starts with an L but I cant remember the actual name. The lake and crater are my favorite base game areas though, they felt memorable
I think we need some new side games, some ideas for new Pokemon games: 1. A new Pokemon TCG game for Switch (or its successor), and you get certain trainer cards (like a Misty card or something from meeting Misty in the story). 2. A new Pokemon Ranger game for the Switch (or its successor). 3. An Animal Crossing style game for Pokemon, ideally focusing more on lore and folklore (possibly using the Pokemon Resort concept from Pokemon Concierge).
It’s one of those instances where it was “be careful what you wish for” as open world does not and should not automatically mean a step up in quality. I would much prefer open zones such as in Legends Arceus, and that’s as open world as I want Pokémon to be. Not every series needs to be open world, and already that trend is on the decline. It’s okay that it wouldn’t be. The most beloved Pokemon games are linear.
As long as they address the level scaling issue then im fine with it continuing to be open world. At least for casual play. As far as nuzlocking goes its actually quite a pain to implement the 1st encounter rule
I wish there was more details in the games and wasn't so empty, makes replaying less fun than in the previous games. It seems like they ran out of time and left everything empty instead of delaying the games.
I think I would prefer a more closed off structure like in the old-school games but with branching routes, freedom of choosing the order of the gyms you take on and level scaling relating to the amount of gym badges. That way you could give the routes more personality, give the player choices (but not an overwhelming amount) and give a much needed variation to the gym challenge. Maybe also a choice of which town to start in. I find it way too convenient that the protagonist always happen to live close to the easiest gym and that the starting town also lies in an almost perfect position for traversing the region in a perfect order.
The open-world idea feels out of order when you can face all of the Gym Leaders in any order, resulting in cheap wins and loses from a level difference. That will not work in especially Jouto when Akane and Ibuki are best known for not giving your player a badge after beating them until later. The path to being a Pokémon Champion is fine enough.
Yeah the most annoying thing bout Scarlet and Violet is that u can't just go u can no longer enter houses like u did before and even going to any of the eatry feels so incomplete
I would hate if they went back to 2D. I always wanred a 3D pokemon game and sure SV isnt perfect it is what I wanted on a pokemon game especially with how properly upgraded and detailed the pokemon are.
i like the open world aspect of Pokémon, you feel like you're actually traveling to catch Pokémon, and s/v made the battles fell like you are in a battle with a Pokémon in the world, not some exaggeration
I can not tell you the name of most towns in scarlet/violet and even though they are all different, I have a very generic image in my head for what they all look like. That's because there is NOTHING to do in them outside the gym. We also need to go back to random battles. After the first 2 routes I stopped fighting NPCs because I wasn't forced to and had no reason to go up to them. They also need to go back to having areas blocked off that you have to go back later in game to explore
I think open area works better because open world have a ton of strain that open area does not but i think open world was a very important step for pokemon but i think they need to focus on next adding a ton of stuff to do besides raids and battling trainers. i would like maybe a mission system or a quest system but i think pokemon is way better suited for open area like legends arceus because not only does it put less strain on the game its easier to make hidden area to discover
I dont agree with you . Pokemon doesn't have to be open world , don't think it works well it . Semi open world is fine with linear structure and focus on rest of things
I like that the trainers are optional. U seek them out becuse you need to get stronger. And a world without trainers at all would feel off to me. I supose it boils down to how u play. I very rarely took anny part of the terraid. So when I suddenly couldn't take on the gym. So I started to seek out the trainers. Since the world is so open. It docent Hurt to have 3 options to leveling. Beaing terraid, trainers, and the lets go feture.
Personally, I think Pokemon would benefit to going back to linear style of routes but adding a lot of branching paths and hidden area to instead give the illusion of the game being a lot more open. My main problem with SV is that it feels so empty and uninteresting, and it's really disappointing. I just really really wish Gamfreak would spend more time on their games.
No disrespect to the 2D/2.5 era of the pokemon games but: I think 3D is much better. The new friendship mechanics like pokemon amie, pokemon refresh, pokemon camp and pokemon picnics have increased the level of inmersion with your pokemon to the point where it's not even a contest. It's on a completely different level compared to sprites. You can play with them, you can feed them, clean them, heal them, bathe them, they can get close and interact with you directly, they can interact with each other and you can see /interact with more than one at the time and they even walk near you in the overworld. The pokemon have small reactions when they defeat a pokemon or when they´re just waiting for you to command the next attack, they can literally decide to join your team if they're wild pokemon while using some of the buddy time mechanics (like in pokemon camp). They can even show expressions like getting angry or scared of other pokemon which already is more personality than what you can get watching a sprite. Heck, have you seen pokemon like Sudowoodo, Passimian or Mr. Mime fainting animations? You have more personality there than in the basic movement of multiple sprites. Not to mention that with 3D the pokemon in the wild either run towards you or straigh up attack you, act curious towards you when they see you, they react when you whistle at them or flee from you based on what their personality is meant to portray and pokemon that use objects to fight can actually be seen using them in battle. And what can you do with 2D sprites? Oh yeah, you can see them from the front or from the back doing a pose at best and unless you're going to use a potion on them or revive them you basically can only see them in battle. Also let's be real, if the pokemon company would've stayed with 2D sprites right now we'll have a massive amount of "fans" whining about how pokemon is as big as it is and still doesn't jump to 3D yet. And people love to whine about moves like double kick or tackle on scorbunny, you know, those moves that you totally are going to keep in its moveset and not replace after the first 15 minutes or less of the game and forget that with 3D you get vastly superior inmersion when it comes to moves as well. Do people seriously think that moves like giga impact, flamethrower, thunderbolt or hyper beam are nearly as cool in 2D as they're in 3D? Of course not. But sure, "3D moves look bad". Heck, you can't even see the face of your own avatar with 2D. While on the other hand with 3D you can custumize the player character to look like you, you can see them throwing the pokeball to catch or battle againts other pokemon or trainers, you can even see the player character during battle and not just the back of the pokemon and you can also see the trainer doing movements when you order a pokemon to do a move. "I like to use my imagination" is not a great argument when you consider that this kind of games heavily rely on connection to your team. And with 3D you get far more interactions which in turn, get you more connection because you can actually experience more things with them than just watching them from the back during battle. Sorry for the ridiculously long comment. I just wanted to share my opinion and I tend to write a lot.
I don't see why we can't have both. Not every single Zelda game from here on out will be like BotW/TotK so why should every Pokemon game be like SV and PL:A?
Pokémon should NOT step back from Open World Games. They should just make Open World Games better. Pokémon fans have spent the last 25 years hoping for an immersive open world Pokemon game but now some fans want to go back to a linear game. If someone wants a linear Pokemon game, then they need to play one of the older games.
No. Just put more meaningful content IN the open world instead of leaving it barren. Give me a reason to actually go to all these towns and cities beyond just having a Gym there. Give me a reason to go to the ones that don't even have Gyms aside from Story or Map completion. Make the route designs more interesting than "big open area" and "straight line". Give us more dungeons that also have better designs that what I just said, and have cool stuff in them to find.
Open world with Linear story. That is the way to go… the world is open for you to explore but the story still progresses you from A to B and opens the world for you to explore… basically the open world is still limited to sections where it opens up as you progress through the story…. And the entire world completely opens up as the final endgame.
Top 5 pokemon games. I think the conversation should be to see what the company can bring to open world. Why do ppl like there hand held? I like goin out doin my thing and gettin back to the story when im ready. Random battles was a dumb part of the game. Never liked it. Never liked runnin into random pokemon. Never liked not bein able to leave a town until the story was done. When you grow up outside you understand adventure. Those make some of the best games. GTA 5. Final fantasy 14. Those companies dont spit out tons of the same game and they make almost as much as pokemon. Pokemon needs to chill and put the work in on open world l. Do a 2d anniversary game later the future like 20 years from now.
I think the steps GF took toward an open world experience were hindered by the one piece of linearity they refused to let go of with gyms. Sure you could grind raids and take on Grusha as the first Gym leader but what is the point when you will be ungodly strong for the others without a proper gym system like they have shown in the anime the game is still linear if you don't want the game to be a struggle of grinding raid dens for however many hours you need to to fight the gyms in the order you want, only to then have to do it over again if you still want the challenging battle because you can't lower a Pokémon's level. sure you can stumble on the Pokémon league but be prepared to fight a level 40-50 Tandemaus. If the game had a badge to level system it would be a great open world but it isn't because the world isn't really open. So to me this part of the game is why people are asking for a step back because this step forward was only a Half-hearted step. Is the world of a game truly open if they way the story is told is linear? It's not like you can just say screw it and not do the 3 main quests like you can in skyrim or other open world games.....
Yall ever just subscribe to someone on youtube because their voice sounds nice? like I’m 3 minutes into this pokemon video essay and im like “yea man u cool I want to listen to you yammer”
I would love a 2DHD Pokémon game that brings back the nuance and depth of the old games. I really enjoyed Arceus but SV are pretty vanilla. The older games appealed to the casual as well as the hardcore gamer and I am missing that in the newer efforts.
I think they jumped the gun too fast on a fully open world. For how mediocre sword and shield was, the way it bridged the open-zone wild area with the traditional routes was great. They should’ve improved on that instead of going straight into a fully open world.
I love the open world but game freak can’t make a good quality open world game on the switch without it being more like legends arceus simply because the switch doesn’t have the processing power to make it look as good as it could be if they continue this and a new Nintendo system with better everything doesn’t come out for it then they need to ask the makers of lozbotw and loztotk how they made the game look so good and run so good on the switch. Periodt
I got into Pokémon in gen 8 and I’m replaying sword, I feel that with how linear the main game is it’d be good for the region it’d probably look better too, since many of the moves are quite simple (except a few) However I’m not sure how easily the dlc or r wild area could be converted to 2d, It’s just that I play sword and end up being frustrated due to how much better the game could’ve been if it had more recent features and if it had a better story since I don’t feel it represented the uk as well as it did
Playing pokemmo was my first experience of a 2d game and I think I had a bit more fun with that compared to Pokémon sword If not fully 2d it could be possibly translated to the bdsp style
I think Im within the boat that SWSH wasn't a bad game because it was linear, there are so many amazing linear pokemon games that work simply because the level design is that good. I think the problem with SWSH was that its level design simply kinda sucked. The first issue besides the framerate that I see people bringing up with SV is that its map kinda sucks. Its essentially a big map, with little to none level design. There arent mechanics to interact with or dungeons to explore, it just feels like plains with little to no thought. There is not a very high degree of interactivity. Even botw has overworld mechanics to interact with, ice physics, hot cold, gravity, etc. SV just kinda exists with none of the mechanics that made pokemon exploration so fun in the first place.
We got one game. I don't want to have a 2d conversation until we get at least half the games we did in 2d in open world. Linear pokemon is not as fun as open world. One game and ppl jumped right into their feelings. At least 6 more main games in open world before that would even be a thought.
Ill be honest though, its kind of been a sentiment since pokemon first went 3d. A lot of fans prefer a more style heavy game over a more gameplay heavy game. Same as the other way around. I think it would be better to address both sides rather than just one or the other. Have the best of both worlds
@TimmyDaTurtle It's cool for what it is. I'm not against it. I'm sayin no need to spend time doin all these extra games. Not bein able to put 100% effort into any of them only to hear ppl complain about it. bring the art style yall askin for at a later date. Or get rid of remakes and use that time to make the game yall want. But keep the main games open world for a few more titles.
Yes. But heres a nice concept. If they do go back to 2D. I would want them to do something similar to black and white, but have it 3D like for open world. Someone could
ORAS too. While ORAS didn't have pokemon following you or an extra region to me it feels like the best remake solely because it's only REAL hinderance, is the lack of battle frontier.
NO NO NO NO. Scarlet and Violet where some of the most interesting and innovative pokemon games in years. I DO NOT CARE it has a few glitches, the gameplay and story was infinitively better.
I wouldn't be mad at all if they did. I was never asking for a drastic formula shift to begin with. Pokemon can work open world but clearly GF isn't equipped to make that game. At least not well lol. Maybe another try they'll do better but I'd rather they stick to their proven strengths to rebuild faith first.
no i think its a matter of time the open world direction improves quañity a WHOLE LOT better but i feel remakes should get actual remakes in the style of lets go graphic wuslity and gameplay style but not ports and actual remakes not like a straight up port with bdsp that shit was waste
To be fully honest, I still don't personally get why some people dislike the new games. The designs are (mostly) bangers, the music is all S Tier for the first time in all Pokemon the story isn't boring, bland, mid or a combination. And if occasional bad performance genuinely ruins a game entirely for you, there's a serious issue and it's not with the game. SV aren't perfect games, but they're easily the best in the franchise and I adore them. All just me though.
When I saw your music S tier I knew what you are saying complete nonsense. The music really good like every region but each place should have unique songs which other games had
@roshandinesh6701 But... every place does have its own unique song? I'd check again who's speaking utter nonsense there mate. Also chill. I said just me. Though I'm not even remotely sorry my opinion offended you.
You're talking as if Open world is an objectively better form of video game. I'm open to another pokemon legends franchise that has an open world, but an open world mainline pokemon game definitely doesn't fit the pokemon story format. The same can be said with zelda. Zelda can work in open world, but it doesn't give the same charm as a classic linear story.
They need to go open world because they need to go forward not backwards look at Temtem it’s a linear game that barely anyone plays I mean Cassette beasts and palworld are open world games
I don't think linearity is why people don't play Temtem, from what I've seen/heard it's just not fun and overly complicated. No wonder people don't play it.
I think both have their ups and down, I just hope they improve on environments because almost everything felt very samey when in came to the majority of the map. Hope they let us go into houses next gen (sounds crazy to say outloud) and improve on towns overall too, the last good game with memorable towns in my opinion was pokemon XY. I do hope they keep open areas and pokemon visible on the map, I love watching those little guys
look at their Faithfull remake BDSP its suck big time, Pokémon need time to improve&develop their open world game, going back is just giving up on their future open world. Remember this, its their first fully open world game and its not going to be perfect or even near perfect with that little time cap of development. Im a zelda& Pokémon fan since 1996 and i really love their graphic improvement over 28 years so far
Should we go back to the same old friggin thing? Umm no, people have been asking for open world Pokemon for years and we finally get it and the scope of it was so massive for gf that it broke the switch. Anyone who thinks this shit doesn't take time to perfect and that the series is going in the wrong direction is a genwunner neck beard. Keep doing your thing GF. Also roaring moon has actual friggin scales! Friggin neckbeards
Never seen a more bratty comment section in my life lmfao 😭 how are they ever going to improve on the game if they just stick to the same concepts 🤦🏽 y’all complain about copy and paste every generation and then complain when they do something new 🤦🏽 MAKE UP YOUR MINDS 🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽
It's hard to even be specific because there are so many problems. Very few trainers that are hard to find. It's very difficult to figure out where to go next. It's hard to figure out where to get the things you need (like the ability to climb a cliff). It's very difficult to find anything you want (like other trainers, the correct way to get to the next area without being blocked by a cliff or river, and so much more).
Let's start with the fact there is ZERO quality control. Look at Pokemon Crystal Clear, it's literally just Pokemon Crystal with an open world and proper level scaling, we can actually have games that are both linear and open world solely by selecting how we'd want to play it on a new file screen. What I'm saying is, design the world like an old school pokemon game, then for the open world option, remove all inhibitors that would prevent FULL exploration. While as the classic mode will be just that, old school pokemon world design.
As much as i love the games from 2d styles, I dont think they will ever go back to many people like the 3d. The problem with the open world games is the design and art style. The open world feels so empty and bland, and the same goes for cities. They need to put more work in making it feel like the world is alive. Going to a quest system based on what city you are in and adding level scaling would help. Also, I feel the same about npc battles in the open world sucked in sv. This might be a hot take, but i think remakes should be designed in the style of what the current gen is like they did for oras. I would love to see the old games designed new and add more to them. Why have the same game that's not what a remake is.
nah i HEAVILY disagree with you on this one. Why are you blaming the open world aspect when in reality the only problem was that SV were HALFBAKED GAMES. If BoTW was given the same development time as SV the of course all those problems youve mentioned will appear. Now with this opinion i really hate SV even more now because now people are questioning if the move to open world was a problem when a true full open world pokemon game hasn't been done yet. SV is a steam early access game not a real open world game. Now this might hurt our chances of actually getting a open world pokemon game which was the dream of a lot of pokemon fans before SV. If people dont think open world pokemon can work because of SV i truly think that is unfair.
oh shit my bad i shouldve watched the whole video before typing a comment but yeah you nailed it in the head. Timing was and potential will continue to be the main problem (if pokemon keeps up with this 3 year new gen cycle then it definitely will be). Let me use BoTW for example(i know that example has been beat to death but its a good contrast). BoTW took 5 years of development time 5 YEARS.,all pokemon games are developed in 3 year cycles which was sustainable for 2d sprite games but not nearly enough time for a 3d open world game. The reason everywhere looks so homogenous is that there simply wasnt enough time to add in more details(oh and game freak doesnt know how to make forests or non-flat terrain. I need them to hire monolith at LEAST for the map PLEASE😭😭these gamefreak devs are babies at 3d modelling). If SV had more time(and more experienced devs) the map would be fantastic and when there is good maps you can trust gamefreak to make absolute BANGER OST's(thats the one thing there good at).And something that is SORELY lacking in modern pokemon games is good NPC's. These NPC's are actually the backbone of most open world games. If you can run around and do anything but you NPC's are garbage then you might as well throw out the whole game as they are required to add challenge and encourage exploration. NPC's are the ones who actually give you a reason to explore every nook and cranny of the world and make town and cities feel alive and lived in. Thats why when you see at max 10 people in a major city like mesagoza its confusing and makes the city feel fake. NPC's in pokemon dont do anything they dont go shopping or go to the mall or talk to each other or battle pokemon with each other(which is such a missed opportunity if you can see NPC's battling it out in pokemon battles it makes the world actually feel like pokemon) these things are important to breathe life into the city. In 2d you can get away with 10 people being in view in any given moment or each house looking the same or every shop being the same as our imagination fills in the blanks but due to the uncanny valley effect you cant do the same in 3d, you have to put more effort into each town.Back onto the shopping point, every shop being the same is actually dumb as to can encourage people to visit different towns by making only certain items be in certain towns so you must go to the town to get what you desire. Also you can make NPC side quest which require you to visit different towns. And there so many other ways to make town feel lived in as the industry has been working with 3d games for a long time.Pokemon can implement these different tactics to make towns fun again its not that hard to implement its just on gamefreak to give there devs enough time to do these things. And on trainer NPC's being optional this topic is a bit hard to deal with. One things for sure.... the days of trainers standing around and turning 90 degrees every few seconds are over😭In a 3d game this concept simply cant work we seen what it looks like in SWSH and a little in SV it doesnt work and looks weird. In 2d noones gonna question why trainers are simply waiting endlessly for you to come and battle them but in 3d it looks so weird. For us to be forced to fight trainers again we have to try something new like maybe actually implementing what they say all the time in 2d pokemon, that when 2 trainers eyes meet they must battle. But this would have some problems of its own. Imagine if your just chilling in a forest or something and a trainer comes running up on you your forced to battle. Bro your gonna be looking around your shoulder all the time tryna dodge the jumpscare 😭But even if its implemented in a way that npcs wont chase after you until you see them theres still gonna be a few problems with this method. Players which will likely have mounts will just out speed and run away from trainers they dont what to battle.Or another situation what if multiple npcs see you at the same time? are you just gonna get jumped?😭 Theres gonna be some hilarious scenes if this way is implemented and the npcs AI must be pretty complicated for it to work in a fair way. Tbh i dont know a good way to solve this problem but there has to be a solution to this
Remakes, yes. Gen 10 and forward, no. I also feel like some people will just call Gamefreak desperate for going back to the more traditional style (idk why I feel that way tbh).
This was the first game I actually cared about exploring the world, I never cared for the 2D games they were honestly really restricting they did not feel open to me at all. I want gamefreak to continue to develop open worlds they will be able to improve im sure, I tried to play heartgold and I just cant that game is so restricting and I wasnt able to catch my dream team until very late game. I enjoyed the open world concept alot more than the linear concept, when the games were linear I always just tried to finish through without caring about the world just to battle online, these games I took my time and had alot of fun. And I really love how updated the pokemons textures and height are made I dont want to lose any of this just for a lame 2D linear game
Very surprising considering The 2D games probably have more to explore/find and more detail than this whole open world. I hope they improve the open world thoroughly and learn from it. More to actually discover, towns that arent empty bricks with Ui shops etc
@@timurtheking I mean its because I couldnt have the pokemon I wanted in my team which were natu, murkrow, teddiursa and swinub early game in heartgold and it just sucked being forced to use early route pokemon. What I also hated was that when I encountered them, they were at very low levels so I didnt even bother to catch or grind them. I loved in violet how I have the freedom to travel and get a frigibax early game and I had the curiosity to explore and evolve my gimmighoul into a gholdengo these were memories that I will really loved. But yeah im sure pokemon will learn from this and improve from this scarlet and violet. Like with the indigo disc to me it felt like an improvement, and the battles were really good too.
Stick with open world I just hope they can better develop the game for the next console, better graphics more buildings and buildings to enter just take it to another level and make it optimised
Pokemon is better with open world ! Graphics problems are not a reason to not go for it. They just need to wait 1 more year before releasing their principle games and we need to wait more if we want better open world quality.
Just make a smaller world with more detail. Having a huge world is pointless if most of it is empty and bland
90% of open worlds 😂
@@BladeSerph they need to keep doing whats working. making changes like going back to 2d will be a reason for me to stop buying the titles.. im playing because they are open world and 3d now.
@@Only_Some Yeesh 9+ month dated response hitting them zombie posts nyeh? Good thing im actually bored right now.
What they could easily do is split it up into 2 pathways:
One that focuses on the older style and could probably be a smidge cheaper probably going back to 2D or 2.5D style aka how some people did Pokemon Gen 1 in OCTOPATH TRAVELER STYLE to show the potential value that game could have by expanding on pixel artstyle more then simply having 3D models for the sake of 3D models.
Though mega evolution was the start of it, i would say the major problem was they kept repeating that formula so often they watered it down to lazyness:
-Mega evolutions had the pokemon get sizable different appearances which despite being the same pokemon still, allowed them to breath and let older ones shine by having a strong mega evolution to make them stand out.
The new Pokemon displease me also
But does that have anything to do with open world or just art direction?
The did that already it's called swsh
They could limit leveling and exp sharing, unfortunately they're doing it more for the kids.
@DK24S that doesn't fix the problem of no level scaling, though. There is a logical order based on levels for the gyms, bases, and titans, but the game doesn't indicate that in any way.
I'm just saying that if there is no level scaling for the major battles, I want some in-game indication of what order to do them.
@@Ninja_Geek True for open world they could scale and limit after each badge, but fast level up has been an issue for years too.
@TimmyDaTurtle this is why I mentioned remakes, those wouldn't be open world.
if it stays open world the different biomes and regions need more distinct design cus paldea is bland af
@@zacharybecker8228 imo I don't think it's bland.
@ZacharyBecker I feel the same way the biomes in Paldea felt so bland heck the biomes in Pokemon Legends Arceus is miles better even in Monster Hunter Stories 2 the biomes felt more alive then S/V.
Counter argument, imagine a open world game that looks actually lively and having wild Pokémon like in new Pokémon snap would be godly
Even the teachers look better than us.😢
Sounds like X and Y
@@kylespevak6781 Didn't X and Y have linear paths? I don't recall much exploration aside from the cave.
i don't think pokemon is ready to make the jump to full open world yet, and while i do prefer 2D if they're insistent on going 3D they need to take a step back and get a better grip with designing 3D environments for the series, ones that have all those little sidepaths and crannies and hidden areas that the series used to be great with, even if the areas they're designing for that need to be scaled down in the interrim, exploration was a major part of the experience of the games that they need to learn how to put them in the new world format before they keep making bigger worlds.
@@cory30j Yeah, the syncro machine did make us dream. This is a great mechanic for an open world Mystery Dungeon like game
Missing going in building is weird. I always felt it was pointless or a waste of time besides a random item
"We're going to have to take the whole thing back to formula"
"Back to formula"
You know you know
You can't do this to me, I made this pokemon game. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED?! - Junichi Masuda probably
Oras/ Gen 7 was peak world design, even if pokemon didnt follow you
ORAS yes, gen 7 no, there was no exploration to be had in gen 7 it all felt like an on rails game.
Here we go with the GOAT Sonic Unleashed background music. *chef kiss*
Pokemon doesn't have time given to them plus the gym leaders & trainers as well everyone in the game would all have to have their Pokemon & their levels extremely diverse to adjust to the players' Pokemon
or they could just do what the dlc did and tell you which one you should probably do first
@@jimmyjohn6479 but that doesn't really help because unlike in games like skyrim or fallout the eneimes don't scale with your levels...
It's embarrassing that it took them this long to get where they are
I think we need some new side games, some ideas for new Pokemon games:
With game freak being awful at 3d yea, this would maybe give us a first good game since forever. Maybe they will show off on switch 2?
I think we need 2D again because GameFreak has shown us that they can't handle 3D properly.
What nonsense are you saying
I love the open world aspect, the exploring kept me interested
i love open world just wish it’s was design better
No disrespect to the 2D/2.5 era of the pokemon games but:
I think 3D is much better.
If someone wants a linear Pokemon game, then they need to play one of the older games.
they could have it be linear and then when u beat the story u can access to go everywhere
Tbh, I never really wanted it to go open world. Ive always loved the games cause they were more medium scope.
Going back to the creative routes is better than going forward to the restrictive routes.
What do you mean?
@@roshandinesh6701 There are branching paths in the routes in the past Pokémon games.
Id say yes as its best games sadly were most the 3ds. They either have a rough start or kinda suck with the open world stuff.
Ok the music part was on your part
Periodt
From the arguments you’ve made here I’d recommend you rewrite the title to “Was open world executed right for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?”
I got into Pokémon in gen 8 and I’m replaying sword, I feel that with how linear the main game is it’d be good for the region
it’d probably look better too, since many of the moves are quite simple (except a few)
However I’m not sure how easily the dlc or r wild area could be converted to 2d,
It’s just that I play sword and end up being frustrated due to how much better the game could’ve been if it had more recent features and if it had a better story since I don’t feel it represented the uk as well as it did
Playing pokemmo was my first experience of a 2d game and I think I had a bit more fun with that compared to Pokémon sword
If not fully 2d it could be possibly translated to the bdsp style
Exactly finally a good comment. They should continue with SWSH and improve upon it .
Someone could
In my opinion, 100%. HGSS and BW/B2W2 was peak pokemon.
ORAS too. While ORAS didn't have pokemon following you or an extra region to me it feels like the best remake solely because it's only REAL hinderance, is the lack of battle frontier.
Don't forget Pokemon Platinum!
NO NO NO NO. Scarlet and Violet where some of the most interesting and innovative pokemon games in years. I DO NOT CARE it has a few glitches, the gameplay and story was infinitively better.
God PLEASE no.
Really don’t need to be taking steps backwards when it’s still constantly evolving!
Going to the way it was or whatever it's called would feel like a huge downgrade tbh
Yet, being stuck into wearing school uniforms is fine to TPCi. That is the one that takes away a lot of the custom character options.
No, they need to dump open world because it's clear they can't handle it.
Comment dropped
I think both have their ups and down, I just hope they improve on environments because almost everything felt very samey when in came to the majority of the map. Hope they let us go into houses next gen (sounds crazy to say outloud) and improve on towns overall too, the last good game with memorable towns in my opinion was pokemon XY. I do hope they keep open areas and pokemon visible on the map, I love watching those little guys
Personally yes. I don't like the 3D. Peak 3D is Let's Go. But much prefer pixel style. But the best would probably be HD2D like octopath traveler.
No
Yes. Pokemon was never going to work as an open world game.
Main games need to go back to og style while legends and let’s go games should be open world
look at their Faithfull remake BDSP its suck big time, Pokémon need time to improve&develop their open world game, going back is just giving up on their future open world.
Remember this, its their first fully open world game and its not going to be perfect or even near perfect with that little time cap of development. Im a zelda& Pokémon fan since 1996 and i really love their graphic improvement over 28 years so far
pokemon need to see how zelda work on their open world , as an adult i can wait 3 years for a really good game to enjoy like gta6
thumbs urp! Good jerb!
Level scaling 100% and double battles.
They gave you BDSP and y’all complained…
Should we go back to the same old friggin thing? Umm no, people have been asking for open world Pokemon for years and we finally get it and the scope of it was so massive for gf that it broke the switch. Anyone who thinks this shit doesn't take time to perfect and that the series is going in the wrong direction is a genwunner neck beard. Keep doing your thing GF. Also roaring moon has actual friggin scales! Friggin neckbeards
People were asking but after scarlet and violet, people won't go back .
Friggin scales can also be done in linear style . Less open more linear , more swsh style
Remakes will suffice the need
Never seen a more bratty comment section in my life lmfao 😭 how are they ever going to improve on the game if they just stick to the same concepts 🤦🏽 y’all complain about copy and paste every generation and then complain when they do something new 🤦🏽 MAKE UP YOUR MINDS 🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽
I'll take linear pokemon games with better quality control for 500
yes
There are so many things wrong with a completely open world game.
World design started getting dull in Gen 7.
XY has Miare City that is like a hub world where there are different paths to pick, while focusing on being a Pokémon Champion.
nah i HEAVILY disagree with you on this one.
Tbh i dont know a good way to solve this problem but there has to be a solution to this
@@abduking.that’s wild bro 😂
Remakes, yes. Gen 10 and forward, no. I also feel like some people will just call Gamefreak desperate for going back to the more traditional style (idk why I feel that way tbh).
No.
If it wasn’t for the open world style I would have never picked up a pokemon game
NO KEEP THE OPEN WORLD
Pokemon is better with open world !
Graphics problems are not a reason to not go for it.
They just need to wait 1 more year before releasing their principle games and we need to wait more if we want better open world quality.
