Thanks for the support as always Chris, my email box is full of companies wanting to promote their products on the channel, I don't want the channel to become QVC where I just become a salesman, I just show my days, good or bad and real stuff that happens in the world of plumbing, thanks for watching as always mate
I’d be happy to watch a quick advert for the content you show. Got to make a few £££ for your time. Only annoys people when they constantly try and sell tools and apps during the video.
The videos have never been about making money or advertising my business, I make them because I enjoy it, to hopefully be able to pass a little bit of knowledge on to others, and to be able to improve myself is way more important than money, I really appreciate the support mate, thanks so much for watching
Thanks for the support as always Paul, the bricks were a very good match to be fair, the tiles are being replaced shortly but I didn't want to leave a mess, sometimes you can get more work by just going that extra mile, thanks for watching as always mate
That bought back a few memories, been retired for a while now mate, but as soon as I saw that Ideal Classic I tried to recount how many fans/pcbs I’ve changed on these, and how many gas fires you’d see and think I can’t leave that, and trying to convince people there is sludge in there systems (Magnets 😅)I cut my teeth on baxi’s and Thorns, floor mounted and back boilers, and some of the early combis VCW’s,Worcesters, elm le Blancs Etc. I loved the job but spoiled by the hierarchy of a big company I cannot name,Wish I’d opted for self employment, still love watching these videos though, you never lose the interest, keep it up mate 👍
Thanks for the support as always mate, it's so nice to hear from retired engineers, I love the job, one of the main reasons I make the videos is to act as a sort of time capsule, the job is going to change massively in the next 20 years or so, thanks for watching 👍
I do like the baxi flues, the only thing is you can't adjust the terminal end like you can on the Worcester, sometimes I like to point the end up to stop wind blowing down the flue in open areas, but the built in fall is a very clever idea, thanks for watching as always mate 👍
Nice boiler change there Tom. I’m glad it appeared to go reasonably well for you, after your problems in the resent past. Hope you have a great weekend, take care and I look forward to the next film. 👍👍👍
The classic's are good reliable boilers, the customer was upgrading the kitchen so wanted a new boiler, the baxi does come with a 10 year warranty although like you say is not as bulletproof as the classic, thanks for watching as always mate
Thanks for watching as always mate, I got the lads to do it before hanging the boiler, I don't think the agitated the radiators though, it should be good now
Thanks for watching Andy, I just use a small sds drill bit to drill the mortar joint out, then smash the old brick out with a hammer and chisel, you just have to be careful not to damage the bricks next to the damaged ones
Coring is probably my least favourite part of plumbing, as an apprentice it was my job do to all the coring, we did some church work adding disabled toilets in, one core hole would take about 5 hours, the walls were over a 1m thick on some, thanks for watching as always Colin
Hi Tom, We fitted a 4” RPZ on the jetty pipework we renewed at British Steel ABP jetty at Immingham North East lincs and on the ABP jetty at the gas caverns Killinghome about 2 miles apart. Somebody must be servicing them, why not you? Not sure how far away you are. We used to get enquiries regularly for commercial gas and although competent to do the piping installation we didnt have the Gassafe certificate.
Thanks for the support as always mate, it sounds like you tackle some really interesting stuff. Immingham is probably a bit to far for me to travel. I really need to build my confidence a bit on testing them before tackling anything to big, they are easy enough to do, but it's just remembering the sequence. I'm hoping now I've got my name on the water boards website, I might pick up a few jobs locally, the ones I look after now, the client was paying 350 a valve just for testing, they were only small valves protecting one appliance.
@@PlumbLikeTom yeah I’ve had a long and varied work life. I think I’ve worked every industry apart from nuclear and rigs offshore. Retired now (don’t tell the wife) just doing some diy and bits of plumbing for family before our house renovation.
Great video and you do very professional work while always going the extra mile. On that very dirty system (I acknowledge your lads did a power flush) but a magna flush rig will only remove the magnetic dirt and the remainder of the dirt passes through - plus if the circulation is by the boiler’s own pump the flow rates are too low to disturb the tenacious shite.😀👍
Thanks for watching as always mate,I spent quite a bit of time getting tne sludge out the bottom of the rads, like you day I was only using the system pump but its surprising how much you move when just doing one rad at a time, I also connected a hose to each drain off to help flush the rubbish out of the system, I checked them all with the thermal camera and they were all hot to the bottom with no cold spots, in the end I think the system should be good, thanks for watching as always and have a great weekend 👍
Done a 816 myself this week, been using them for boiler changes for years now and they have been great, done loads and only needed to get baxi out once that I can remember..... Are you Baxi works registered Tom? I did it a few years ago and the priority help line and extended warrantee for the customer is a good selling point I find. Have a good weekend.
Thanks for the support as always mate, I do like the baxi boilers, I'm sorting my accreditation out, the rep came a saw me a couple of weeks ago as I've fitted quite a few now. I always used to fit Worcesters but the quality control and components are not what they were, there are a couple of things that other boilers do better but overall the baxis are pretty sound, have a great weekend mate
Thanks for the support as always mate Keith, I work for my family business, I'm on the pay roll so I'm employed by them, thanks for watching as always mate
Good old pipe sizing calculations, everyone loves doing them heh. So are you 18th edition qualified on the electric to do the wiring or some other level?
Pipe sizing can be a bit of an educated guess at times if you can't see all the bends and pipe, the proff is always in the testing, it's obviously easier on new gas lines as you know what has been used, my brother is a qualified electrician, he always checks my work, this job is being rewired as the the spur and programmer is being moved when the kitchen gets done, thanks for watching mate 👍
I think its a marcrist drill, it's a brand I've never heard of but they had them on offer in my local merchant, I got a dust extractor with it as well, so far it seems to be working well, I've only had it about 6 months so time will tell, thanks for watching as always mate
I've probably done around 10 holes that I can think of with this, a few have been 6inch for oil boiler flues, so far it's been perfect, honestly I don't know how long it will last but so far so good
