  • Rematch vs Minh! Our first video here: • Tennis with Minh - NTR...
    Minh won first set 6-3, we were tied 6-6 in second set when court time ran out and we got kicked off. My serve and volley worked well, otherwise made too many unforced errors off the ground.
    Minh: gray shirt
    Tim: black long-sleeve, blue warm-up
    My camera: Sony a6000 mirrorless
    My tripod: MeFoto Roadtrip Classic (carbon fiber)
    My racquet: Head Graphene Radical Pro
    My strings: Luxilon 4G mains, Wilson NXT or Sensation crosses at 55 lbs

    Minh has such an interesting variety of shots. He has those big loopers, but also can do more standard groundstrokes.

    When a wall consistently beats 5.0 players, the wall is a 5.0. There is more than one way to hit a ball and to win a match. What you don't see in the NTRating are strategy, the mind, grit, retrieving skill, guts (be more aggressive or defensive on big points), endurance, etc. Many talented players with beautiful strokes underestimated the Wall and end up loss the match and thinking the Wall was just lucky.

      4.5 player (Minh I suppose) has a totally crappy serve, and 5.0 player is totally incapable of capitalizing on that. A real 5.0 player would crush with returns 3 out 4 serves of Minh and literally break every single of his service games. 4.5 player is a sub-average 4.5 pusher. 5.0 player is nowhere near 5.0 level of play. He does have nice court coverage and net play, but his serve is weak, return abysmal and ground shots too weak (no penetration at all).

    Came back nicely from that 6 straight games against you from 3:3 to 3:6 0:3. Would be nice to see maybe a set with all the points. Would tell much more about the strengths and vulnerabilities (like are those not seen point forced or unforced errors or even quick winners).

    I guess I can't tell difference in levels. To me, besides the technique and form, the ball itself is played very skillfully and looks a high level. If someone was to transplant a pro with perfect technique and form , in place of these guys( only for aesthetic reasons) , but the ball still played the same, I would think it was a pro match. The ball is hit very good, but the strokes don't look effortless and balanced like the pros do.
    Except for the serves. The serves are lacking.

      Great match. Seemed like you won most of the highlight points yet lost the first set. Aka lost via unforced errors... Minh played better today than last time. More aggressive on passing shots. Your volley has improved dramatically Tim! You still throw the ball behind you on your serve and land to the left and no into the court. Takes pace away from your serve and makes serving and volleying much harder.

      I admit that he looks good on the recent ones it's just that in a lot of his matches he makes a lot of dubious shots to the middle of the court or very loopy shots that are attackable if you're a decent 4.5 player.

    • @Meidongwang
      @Meidongwang 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrew appears to be slightly more consistent. Both are 5.0 players with great consistency and mobility (USTA level). They don’t look like ATP players and some people say that’s 3.5 tennis. I would say most legit 4.0 players will be bageled by andrew or Tim

    • @jeremi7214
      @jeremi7214 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew Gross you are only seeing the highlights! More than half their points are not shown which suggests they are pretty awful. These guys may be able to compete at a 4.5 level, but no way are they 5.0!
