- A grinding physical match and a great opponent who recently graduated from CNU. I had my chances including a couple match points but have no problem holding my head high after this one.

I love your serve. Looks so efficient.
Not sure if it's on purpose or not, but it didn't look like you were doing a split step in general, and on net points especially. It looked like you were getting caught flat footed a lot. I think it would push your net game to another level if you incorporated that. Just to be clear though, your movement is already unreal.

Had the opportunity to see Dillon play at the Hampton Tennis Center just a couple of weekends ago. He is definitely one of the fastest guys I have ever seen on the courts. He defeated Lorenzo Sison, who has been terrorising the PTPA tournaments (smile) this entire summer. That was a fun match to watch, and the first time I have seen anyone out play Lorenzo!

Dude, you are hilarious. I dont know why your matches show up on my youtube feed, but I see them more frequently than I see Nadal Federer 2008 at Wimbledon or Federer Roddick US Open final 2006. Love that you are so passionate about tennis. YOu have a nice game.

These are so much fun to watch. the pros can hit winners from anywhere on the court, so it's nice to watch someone closer to my level and learn tactics that I could actually apply. Both of you have nice (albeit very different) games!
Daniel Tobben Even we amateur players can learn tactics by watching the pros you just have to know what to look for when watching a professional tennis match. I have been fortunate to have attended many pro tournaments since the 1970’s. Watching Rod Laver play Ken Rosewall I learned change and vary spins. Laver hit with top or slice on his backhand with the same preparation you did not know if was going to hit a topspin,slice or a drop shot. They both moved into the net on balls hit short. Watching Connors play McEnroe was like going to tennis camp. They both set up points and closed into the net. They both served with lots of spin and kick not just flat serves. Connors could dig shots out of the corner an hit sky high lobs to gain recovery time. Sure he hit low percentage winners but he played the game an set score and was always ahead when he took a high risk shot. I have been teaching and coaching for a long time and always use the pros as examples to explain strategy and tactics. Whenever I hit with someone or watch anyone play I automatically assess their strengths, liabilities and consider tactics or strategy that would be helpful in coaching them or playing against them. So when you watch Professional tennis try to look beyond the aces and winners. Have fun on the court 🎾🎾

It seems your groundstrokes are very consistent and have good placement (esp with passing shots) but they don't have a lot of penetration due to low wrist action/racket head speed. Maybe something to work on. I imagine it will be hard to rely on speed+defense+chip'n'charge against 5.0+.

Another great video and match! I know some (many) people has suggested you to flaten your forehand or work on your service. I am not going to mention anything about them (I think your top spin forehand is very good for clay anyway). But in my opinion there is something that you could improve and it is easier to implement it because you only need to make some small corrections, I am talking about the slice. I suggest you watch some videos from Dimitrov, Federer or Feliciano, and pay atention and compare their body position against yours (you are too much in front of the ball, they are more sided), so your body position doesn´t allow you to start the movement from behind. They start the movement behind them and finish the movement ahead, also because they are sided they can rotate the body and impulse the body with the legs, as a result the shot is heavier and deeper...check it out. A fast, deep and low slice is an amazing weapon that could be of great help specially to your kind of game. My two cents.
You two are better than I will ever be in my wildest dreams. It's easy for me to say this from my couch lol. It seems like you guys set each other up so well on several points, then instead of kill it you just kind of lob it to the other person and prolong the point. You both were probably nervous on camera and knew your mistakes. Again, you two are truly amazing and I loved watching this match. It just got suggested to me I guess 2 years after you played.

Good god man. Out of all the 5.0 player videos on TH-cam, Andrew is probably the very best at not opening up the court against himself. He’s putting the ball in the perfect spot almost 9/10 times and never makes unforced errors. Hardly the wrong shot selection too. This is evidenced by Observing who’s doing the most work/running on court. Dillon is running Atleast triple the amount in rallies cause he’s usually going up the line and opening up court against himself and then Andrew just rolls it into the open court with that magnificent topspin fh!

This is high quality tennis. I've seen flashier, but both players are steady, play high percentage shots, and do have the ability to win points on short balls. 5.0 indeed, and a good example for how to win against 95% of club players

this was a great match to watch. both of you guys got great speed and legs- Dillon's strategy and backhand could use some improvement and I think it could've been a lot easier for him but kudos to both you guys for grinding it out.

thanks! I've used all types they all do about the same thing. GoPro Studio, adobe premiere, sony vegas. I've spent lots of money on the software but they are worth it.

Very good match. It would be nice, IMHO, not to cut out missed serves. This way we could see when you flat or kick/slice serve (second serve). Thank you for posting the match.
What strings and tension are they using, they are getting great topspin with little speed
can someone explain how you play against those dropshots? and what about the guy's volleys? how come Andrew kept returning those?
l An Lol just charge up to the net and get a good shot off the drop shot. If you get there fast enough the court’s wide open to hit to. As for at the net, you gotta anticipate where they’ll volley, track it down, and hit a shot to the open court, or a really powerful shot at their body. It’s easier said than done lol
Don't get caught 8 ft behind the baseline. And don't hit short balls that sit up high. Andrew kept returning them because his opponent hit bad volleys. Andrew had to move minimally and had tons of time to pass him. Best way to deal with a drop shot is don't put yourself in a situation where you cant deal with one and make the other person move off your shot if you get there. You aren't going to be hitting a winner off of it unless its bad. But you will have alot of angle and court to hit to its executing that is difficult for alot of players.
Depends. If the other player is close to the net. Return to the far base line. If the opposite, return with a dropshot

You are basically playing at a high level - now you know what you need to improve- to get better - fitness will only take you so far - don’t stop in trying to improve your strokes and serve
Just a coaching idea do you go back and watch your game film like football coaches do to see what can be improved. In the amount of video that I just watched I saw Dillon taking advantage of short balls landing in or just outside the service box. That would also tell me that You would need to hit with more consistent depth and also get to the net on his short shots. I do understand that players tend to want to stay in their comfort zone but at some point you have to work in new tactics in practice and then in matches so you can advance to the next level.

Great game, you should work on ball depth and really hitting through the ball you’re putting so much spin on the ball with little to no power. Hit with purpose !!! but keep up the good work have enjoyed watching you improve.

Where was this match played
Big difference between the two is the serve. The guy with grayish shirt has much better service mechanics and it shows with a much faster and stronger serve. Someone had practice his serve effectively.

I’m guessing these were just highlights thrown together in whatever order they came in as, because the scorecards were all over the place, one point it would read 2-5 then 1-0 then back to 2-5 then 3-4, these were obviously not in order from start to finish, regardless nice playing tho
Probably way too much work but seeing the score would really make it a lot more exciting.
Some 5.0s here in South Florida would make these guys look like 3.0s.

Dillon was clearly the aggressor and the more polished player but he hit most of his approach and finishing shots right back to Andrew giving him way too many chances to stay in the point. So what should really be a routine straight sets victory for Dillon turned into a 3 set nail biter.
You are absolutely right, I remember after the first set I was making way too many errors but in turn, I ended up playing too safe, but don't get me wrong Andrew is a great player and made me work for every point

Andrew you should of played short angles the match would of not been so physical, I did not deep stats however Dillon's net play was his weakness you won quite of few freebies Dillon did not cover the net well

jcsaclkh Either a moron or a troll hard to tell the difference. This is at least solid 4.5 tennis even in the toughest markets and 5.0 in a lot of others.
That's crazy. They're at a minimum 4.5 just with their ability to consistently serve a kick. I would say they are both competitive 5.0 on good days and minimum 4.5 on bad days.
