The legit dudes in overly dramatic nonsense situations like that usually come out clean in the end. Not for nothing but I did this swap over 10 years ago stock bottom end with metal head gasket arp studs and s2 cams with gt30r apex power fc and made 450 at 18 psi tuned by Evans tuning and ran 10.02 @132 car was gutted with full chromoly cage and ford 8.8 irs diff .... look up “fast ass turbo Miata pinks” on TH-cam... it’s the silver Miata... that day was low boost 10 psi.... it was a blast to drive

I don't know why this swap isn't that much of popular, I mean it's practically a straight swap since they are the "same" engine type, very cool swap I'll look forward to do it in the future
because sr20's are pulled out of almost every car it comes in and swapped with something else for a specific reason... probably because they're still pretty much worthless, for anything fast. because under 400hp with a 15k swap is not smart at all... lol

What I mean is why people don't SR swap their mx5s since is a quite good swap (for this particular car) instead of slapping a turbo kit to the 1.6 and make 220ish hp, while if you slap a turbo kit in the SR you could go easily over 300hp, where I live SRs go for quite cheap and turbo kits are on the same price range
