Neither snow nor rain nor gloom of night stays these campers from the swift completion of their appointed camping & beer drinking duties.....well done 👍
My favourite time of year! Great to see you all back out together and in the spiritual home of Oktobercamp! Shame 'The Hen' didnt join you😂. Glad you all survived the elements 👍
It's tough mate, I had to pitch a Lanshan, then open a chair and drink beer all afternoon. Can only manage one a year due to the intensity of it. Challenged Matt to take the Octagon on a summit camp...... Along with double bed, throw and pillows.
Ah! The Octobercamp ! I always look forward to this episode. Always a great variety of seasonal beer along with thought-provoking yet inspiring reviews. Guyed down tight I was glad to see the OCTAGON made it though the night without becoming a kite in the next town over. Great video. Thanks for including us in the adventure. Look forward to next year.
I bought the Lanshan 2 with the T-full inner for my South Downs Way trip and loved the space compared to light weight. Not great in bad weather I'd say although I did quite a few mods on mine. You faced bad winds and such a lot of rain!
Fantastic team group atmosphere and not spoilt with the wind and rain. What weather! Even the grass in the campsite was all sogggy. Well done again, Cheers, Warren :)
Hi again Chris sorry to hear about your injury pal , great to see you guys together again always love the October camp ,, just lovely to see a few old mates talking bollocks and having a laugh around a fire ,, oh the simple things ! Thin on the ground nowadays,, we are off to Spain for 3 months in our van from rainy brittany in a couple of weeks , getting out on my bike and walking in the mountains in the sun ,, we do miss the lakes so was nice to see you up there .. stay cool and get some more content out soon ,, Neil .
Hi mate, just 'discovered' your channel and enjoying the content, I'm a scouser living in New Zealand (25 years) i go back 'home' every two years on average (did crib goch last May 67 years young), if you haven't tried Cassel's cream stout (the 8.1%) move heaven and earth till you get your hands on one (6).....won many world stout of the year prizes.....keep up the good fight
Brave one picking Sykeside with the forecast! I love the site but the mountains act like a wind tunnel and winds get stronger there than on the summits 😅 Glad to see everything survived at any rate
Absolutely, barreled down the Kirkstone Pass! Sykeside is the spiritual home of Oktobercamp so we didn't have a choice. Tents performed great. Thank you for watching 🎃
Laughing away at the Octagon tent, nearly fell on the floor when you scanned round and it looked like he had a ceiling fan 🤣 Very funny video, put a smile on my face tonight for sure! 👍🏻
That thermarest bag looks good. I love space and for family camps use the pod beast for a bit of freedom so this may be a future purchase! Still unsure with light tour. I know the one with higher r value is a lot bigger pack size. I know some have used it well and it's lasted about a year or so
I was there last weekend. Got battered with wind , rain and sleet in a Vango 200 ! First time there . Good site, although I thought it might be quieter , boy was I wrong! 😕
Great to see you and the lads back out, brilliant content always look forward to this time of year, especially over in the Lakes . Thanks for sharing mate 🍻
Great to see the Oktober camp still going strong... I think the Octagon is bigger than my bedroom, get that out on a wildcamp 🤣😂... Putting the world to rights with good beer and company, another great camp! 👍
Crazy the contrast in weather. It’s definitely a wind trap that place. Great to see October camp going strong still. 🎃 I’m dying to get out in my tent. Been thwarted recently. I’m a fan of the light tour as well. It’s my go to for a couple of months now. Nice bit of kit for the price. I like that sleeping bag too. Why they don’t send? Enjoyed it as always mate. Send luminous ground beetle 🪲 shoes
Nice one Chris great camp mate ! Look forward to the next Octagon camp !👍✅👍 Quick question I have the thermerest xlight it’s warm but don’t find it really comfortable what do you think is your most comfy mate ? Atb Graham
Looked a great light hearted camp with your pals. Surprised that tent lanshan stood up to the weather but it did well by the looks of it. Plenty of room in there but would it cope on top of the fells in the colder months. Enjoyed that camp pal and great to see you back out having so RnR with your good pals. Take care mate
Love it when Oktobercamp comes round. Good chat, good stories a few drinks with the lads. What’s not to like. Oh, and the Octagon! I want one and a king sized blow up bed 😂
Yes, been anticipating this one... Ive paused at 1.44 though as Ive not seen that new inner before! Ive always been annoyed by those big c zips in my old version, can they be retro fitted into the old version chris? Very intersting bag that too.. Ive had the old trapped nerve neck/shoulder thing before now. Unfortunately seems a bit of a recurring injury for me but never to the extent of the original injury thankfully, have you had the numb tingly fingers too ? Right on with the video..
I replaced mine no issue. Just unclipped the inner then attached the new one. Outdoor gear essentials and wood to water sell them with UK stock. I sold my old inner same day for 25 so worked out well.
Yes, first two fingers were numb for a few weeks. Classic C7 vertebrae pinched nerve symptoms. Was a month of sheer hell 🤣 love the t zip - as Phil says above, an easy swap
Always look forward to your October camps. Fantastic craic with a good set of lads. Loved the Octagon tent😂. Which trekking poles do u use or do u have any recommendations as I’m thinking of taking the plunge and buying a set, I’ve never used them before so haven’t a clue on the different brands. Do u benefit much from using them. I’m also thinking about buying a trekking pole tent for next summer.
Alright Pete - Leki Makalu mine are. I have a few, but find those to be the most robust. They do help reduce strain on the old knees and they also improve your power and efficiency when hiking - when paired with a trekking pole tent, they're a fantastic weight saving. Thank you for watching pal
@@MCMOutdoors Thanks Chris, carrying 18kg on my last camp up Melbreak was definitely tough on the knees and I’m no spring chicken mate at 51, so definitely considering some. Look forward to your next video, keep up the great work.

Lighttour R5.8 is upgraded to R7.5, with a thickness of 10cm and a maximum length of 200cm, and stronger thermal insulation performance!
Thanks for the info!
Neither snow nor rain nor gloom of night stays these campers from the swift completion of their appointed camping & beer drinking duties.....well done 👍
We take our duties seriously. Thanks for watching mate!
Love that campsite, took little one there for his first official camp and dip in Brotherswater in July. Have booked already to return next summer 🙌
Nice site! One of our faves
I do love Oktoberfest camp! Makes me and my mates want to do this every year as well. Inspired! 😂
Happy to inspire the beer drinking October madness 👍
Great video as always Chris glad you had a fab time with the guys. Storm Ashley was a bad one. Looking forward to the next one. 👍😊⛺
Cheers Cath 🎃👍
My favourite time of year! Great to see you all back out together and in the spiritual home of Oktobercamp! Shame 'The Hen' didnt join you😂. Glad you all survived the elements 👍
Nice one Benny, 'The Hen' is still around some say, it's haunting call can be heard when the wind howls through the Sykeside pines in autumn 🎃
Loved the proper front door on the octagon 😂
Needs a ring doorbell 😂
Hahaha, the Octagon is legendary!
That was great. The weather actually added to it, who doesn't love a bit of a storm...as long as your tent survives 😂
Really great to have good weather followed by the storm!
This October camp tradition is just great 👍😀

@@MCMOutdoors 🤣👍. I would definitely want to watch a summit camp video with the octagon.
Had the lanshan 1 pro in 60mph winds last month, handled it well.
Sounds great! Thanks for sharing mate
Must have been fun drying that octagon out..... Cheers gents another great Oktobercamp in the bag
I think Matt needs to make a follow up video entirely on that subject 😅
Love it! Thanks for the content.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was just admiring the octagon in GoOutdoors on Wednesday. Pleasantly surprised that it survived the storm.
The Octagon did well! Great tent

October-Glamp. The Octagon had me howling. I really want one . Well done lads!
I didn't think that would be standing this morning 😂🎃
I too was camped out! Retro style, soaked and sleepless,. Great camp lads!
Nothing better than waking up with no sleep, totally soaked. Makes you feel alive! Thanks for watching 👻

Great video. I loved your October camp the first time I've seen it 😀
Glad you enjoyed! 🎃
That sleeping pad has been improved to be thicker and more comfortable. I also have a 200cm one.

Yeah, it used to be a lot quieter at this time of year! Good though, always fun
Yeah can't complain really. Also we named the Rook, Claudia after Claudia Winkleman. Same haircut !😅
@mikealls8938 haha. We fed them well - very intelligent birds. They had more sense than us 😁

Quick question I have the thermerest xlight it’s warm but don’t find it really comfortable what do you think is your most comfy mate ?

My X LITE NXT Max mate or the X Therm - I find them equally comfy. I've always used Thermarest mats in some shape or form due to the warranty mate.
