  • Once you learn how to cook corn in your instant pot, you can have delicious corn on-the-cob all year long! In this video I will show you how to steam your corn using the instant pot.
I've seen several videos showing a cook time of about 3 minutes for corn on the cob using the Instant Pot. I'm not sure what super heated, super extra IP they are using, because my corn would not be done in a cook time like that. Even the recommended cook time in the book that comes with the appliance says 3-4 minutes.
But I'm here to tell you, it takes about 12 minutes on high pressure to fully steam the corn on the cob I'm cooking in this video. I set my appliance to high and manually put in 12 minutes. I really like to allow for the slow release method, but I was running late when I filmed this so I went with quick release. The IP is fairly full, so it took between 6 and 8 minutes for the appliance to reach full pressure and then the 12 minutes for it to cook. It's still so much better than boiling water on the stove, however. And I don't use a microwave, so I can't speak to that. But generally speaking, I'm not a fan of using a microwave on my food for any reason.
This is a very crisp, well cooked corn. No mush at all! I like to cut it off the cob and serve on salads, and I like it to retain its crunch.
This is my experience making steamed corn in my personal instant pot. I would love to hear what you have found cooking yours. Have you tried it yet?
    .................
    Recipe:
Husk and clean 4 ears of corn on the cob.
Place on top of the steamer stand inside the inner pot of the instant pot.
Add about 1/2" of water to the Stainless Pot to create the steam needed to cook the corn.
Replace inner pot to the appliance.
Seal the top and make sure the steam valve is closed.
Run Instant Pot on high for 12 minutes.
Be very careful removing corn after cooking as its is extremely hot!

Thank you Irena!! I get a LOT of hassle from people over the long cook time, but I like my corn COOKED. And it takes it a while to steam properly.

@@PattymacMakes I agree with you and we have the same taste, I like corn to be cooked. People sometimes comment on something without even trying it.

@@irenacapar6934 I see other videos and people follow the instructions in the book for 2 or 3 minutes and it's just not enough cooking time. I love my instant pot for rice and for bean soups which is what I primarily use it for now. I started canning and got a Ball water bath canner and it also steams food. So I steamed my corn on the cob the past couple of times in it. They call for maybe 12 minutes and I left it in there for 30. But it's delicious!! And COOKED. And it's much larger so I can steam a LOT of corn at once which is how I like to do it.

With 12 minutes the results are perfect, did the 5 minutes test the other day and the corn was not soft, thank you for your recipe.

Oh my goodness. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I get a LOT of flack for this recipe, but I leave it up because I stand by the cooking time. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on your success.

You're welcome! I cook mine longer than a lot of other people, because I don't think it's done at those quick times they give. It fills the pot quite a bit, so it takes it a little longer. The more in there, the longer it will take to fully cook something. Still, it's very easy and you can basically run your cook on the corn and it can sit in the hot pot for quite some time after it's done while you finish other things.

Please let me know what you think! I always cook them for a long time and I think it's good that way, but it's a really different time than everybody else. Also, my IP is pretty full with 4 ears so that might be why it takes longer.
