Yum! Perfect long grain brown rice!.. thank you! I did rinse it first, used 2.5 cups (plus just a tad more) of water, added a tablespoon of butter and teaspoon of olive oil, a little salt, garlic powder, onion salt, and black pepper... all TO TASTE, sealed the lid, followed your time/instructions exactly, and ABSOLUTELY PERFECT and delicious rice was the result!! THANKS for the simple instructions and to the point! Excellent video! ( 6 qt Instant Pot used) By the way people.....the "Pressure Cook" and "manual" buttons are the SAME thing!

I make a 4-cup (dry) batch in my 8-qt Instant Pot, and divvy it up into about 6 sandwich size ZipLoc bags. Flatten & freeze for later use. Pop a bag into the microwave to reheat and you're good to go!
Clean up once, enjoy six times!

Holy mouse manure, I just made the long grain wild rice, did as you said, 2 cups rice, 2.5 cups water, set for 22 mins, pressed go, and placed on seal, watched it steam up, then the display went to 22, waited for it to get to 'L', then vented it, gezz, the rice is perfect, I tried samples from all over the cooking pan, ALL the rice is the same, all cooked evenly, I'm sold, what I like about it, I don't have to stir, watch it, consider the time, just put in the stuff, with the water, next batch I am going to try 50/50 for veg broth and water, and just leave it alone to do its thing, I don't have to watch it, which is great for me, thanks again for your great tut..

1.5 cup water (1.5 cup for each cup of rice)
    1 tsp salt
Bay leaf or any other optional spice
some oil for bottom of pot.
Leave on manual for 25 min. Fluff and serve.

I don't usually eat brown rice but got a bunch of it recently. Wasn't aware of the different cooking times, it was a little crunchy. Did 15 minutes this time and still a little crunchy so decided I should probably look it up. I have a Power Pressure Cooker XL which comes to pressure in about 5 minutes. with the build up, cook time, and release it still beats a pan on the stove using way more electricity and not very accurate temps on older stoves which means less chance for burning.

It's so interesting that you can reduce the cooking liquid by half a cup if you don't rinse the rice first. I didn't think that rinsing would add that much moisture. I was wondering if anyone has an opinion regarding the merits of rinsing versus not rinsing the rice before cooking? Please share if you do.

Twenty two mins is not enough for short grain. I do 26-27 mins depending on how much rice I use. I also live alone, so I do 1 1/4 C. rinsed rice and 1 1/2 C Water. I also use the saute function and saute about 1 T. chopped garlic and about 1/4 chopped onion in some Olive oil prior to adding rice, then water. Anyway, that is what works best for me.

This recipe makes the best tasting brown rice I've ever had. Love that it's fuss-free and comes out perfect every time. Thank you for sharing it! I wanted to ask - I have an Instant pot mini (three quart size), and just one cup of brown rice in my pantry at the moment. Can I make one cup of rice using the same ratio and cooking time? Thank you again! 🙏

Yay! I'm so glad you love it. 😊 You should totally be able to make one cup of rice with the same ratio. ❤️

Kristen you don't reduce the water when only cooking one pound of rice?

@@rosechase2056 Rose, they were talking about the ratio of rice to water. So 2 cups rice to 2 1/2 cup of water or broth becomes 1 cup rice to 1 1/4 cup water or broth.
