Wow, the candid speaking has actually helped me a lot to understand more!!! I think my problem is, is that I have gained a lot of wisdom early on in life and I end up giving great advice to guys who don't want to feel like they're being told what to do. Then I just think they are immature and too egotistical to see the value of growing and learning to better their own life. But this giving advice triggers guys and makes them feel insecure and not the strong superhero they want a woman to see them as. But honestly the insecurity and immaturity is already there underneath if they are triggered by something that can help them grow and learn. A lot of people don't like to grow and learn from others, but I love it, and you can only love growing and learning if you put your ego aside and open your mind to the possibility of what you can grow into. This will never change, and all the wisdom I gained through an intense life will not be denied either, and I cannot go back. But I see the issue, and this helped me understand again that I need a mature man who also has some fruits of wisdom too! Being that I'm still pretty young in a dumbed down American fast food culture, meeting the right guy is going to take some serious miracles of God!
I'd like for aus Phetola to unpack how did she manage to be the breadwinner when abti Lerato was still trying to find his feet. Thank you for yet another educational episode. We really are learning a lot!! ❤️
Basically how did she handle finances and the emotional stability that comes with doing so. Didn't she feel like she was settling for less?
I must admit it was very difficult for me to be the breadwinner especially because the gender roles in the house were still as they were. So I went through a period of feeling quite resentful about the situation.
What really worked for us was when I started my own business. At the time it didn’t look like the best idea because it meant that we would both be self employed, but pursuing my own dreams released me from the resentment. I think it was difficult for me, being in a job that I hated, whilst he was living his best life, and me still being the breadwinner. It just felt very unfair.
A lot of prayer, spending time with couples that we respected who at some point went through what we went through and speaking to a counselor also helped us a lot.

yes I love the transparency, it was very insightful. I definitely believe in the natural nature of women, God made man and women very different but a perfect balance for each-other. And it's true that we women want clarity and distinct answers, when where and how ! We want to know ! I was very surprised with the example you made with how guys want to be respected, and you mentioned the remarks that you felt were unnecessary cause they counteract your statements! I didn't know men didn't like that 😂 because I actually do it a lot, but like your wife says, it doesn't come from a place of negativity or disrespect. The example you gave with you saying "this movie is too long" and the wife says "no it's not that long" is in my mind being positive/optimistic and sharing a different perspective to the situation in a conversational manner, and not to disrespect. But yeah it's really interesting! I'd feel really bad if my man felt like I was being his mother, but at the same time he is no longer a boy like 1 Corinthians 13:11 says, so I would hope I wouldn't have to be his "mom" haha, I would rather trust God with his life than worry too much.. And yeah I learned as-well that men like to have space to process things, and as women we have to actually respect that because it keeps the relationship functional and healthy, even though we want his attention haha. And yes as a young 20 year old woman myself I agree with Phetola in her justifications of being caring and so on, I honestly think it's how we are naturally made, our natural instincts. But I do believe in having a balance and appealing to the spouses needs of having "fun" and etc, but I would also love to do it with him! Adventures is fun! haha. Also with the space part I would also ask my partner what's wrong because of my caring nature but I also would let him go and have his space and think about it, if that'll be the healthy thing to do for our relationship. Meanwhile I would focus on my own business! Wow marriage really is hard sometimes, dealing with different personalities! But it's worth the journey! And I look forward to it. That's love!
