A prescient Mark E. Smith discusses civil liberties:
"Say for instance Britain, it's very keen on the revolution going on behind the Iron Curtain you know, but British people have always been, it seemed to me, dedicated to giving all their freedoms away. They're all sorta lecturing about bloody Romania and Russia and that, yet they're--British people are always dedicated to, you know, giving all their basic freedoms away. Freedoms which my generation's fought for, which my grandfather fought for...and they're just like all Parliament seems to meet to do is to give our basic freedoms away, our civil rights and everything."
