    The updated Unihertz Titan review for 2023 - Is the Titan still worth it? I believe so, and the good news is, it's running a newer security patch. If you are looking for a physical keyboard in 2023, this is certainly an option especially if you were considering something like a Titan Pocket anyway.

      Still using my Passport and Key2LE.
      How's the keyboard on the Titan? People who tested it were not too excited back then and how the keyboard is better on the other Titans is often mentioned

    • @sargeant1hundred
      @sargeant1hundred ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@cesareborgia6431 Got the Titan OG after my KeyOne fell apart. KeyOne keyboard was better but you eventually get used to the Titan keyboard. I've had it for a year. The keys start out really stiff but soften over time as many others have said. The great thing is the phone really seems difficult to break and the battery lasts really well. Hasn't got a scratch yet although I do use a folio cover. The KeyOne was so fragil and needed duct tape to extend it's short life even with the official folio cover.

    • @huge_balls
      @huge_balls ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@sargeant1hundred The Keyone was a terrible phone from the start. The keyboard was too stiff, it wasn't a very durable phone, and right out of the box it was slow as heck. The Key2 LE is what the Keyone should have been and was great. The Titan series are not perfect but have done a great job keeping keyboard phones alive. I have all three Titans, the Slim and the OG are amazing.

    I got the titan when it 1st launched and just managed to break the keyboard after years of constant abuse. Now need to replace it as the parts are not in stock to repair it... I am tempted by the astro slide but I feel I may break it. I have dropped the titan loads of times and it has got paint and glue and all kinds of things spilt on it while I listen to audiobooks in the workshop as well as having dust and metal shavings all over it. Being able to run it under the tap and give it a good clean afterwards is awesome ... I wish they would make another one with newer android or update this one...

      Count your blessings that you received your Astro Slide Transformer 5G. I am visually impaired and had ordered one over a year ago through their Indiegogo campaign as it reminded me of the old Verizon LG Envy feature phone I once had. Guess what. No phone and no refund. I am still very angry about this because I see that some of their backers received their phones and are happy clams. I'm not one of them.

  • @Screwy
    @Screwy ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I had the Titan for a while there, but I had to jump ship due to how much it was falling behind on core updates, especially since it got Android 10 right after I sold it lol. Also, the square display was hell on a number of apps. I wish they made a tankier version of the Slim's design (with adding back the headphone jack too), or if the OG Titan can get a v2 with IR and better app scaling support.
    I really do mean it when I say that a refined Titan would have me leave my Z Flip 4, dead serious.

    I got one of the first ones to hit the market and still use it after like three years. Observations: the screen redraw is a big sluggish for some content - that's a lot of screen for a graphics processor to keep updated. This causes some pixelation on some youtube videoes, but not for others. Also a few years in some of the keys are a bit sticky. I'll be probably getting another one that's new. I like the device.

  • @Amiga3000D

    I have been looking at this phone and the Titan Pocket. I could care less what version of Android is on the phone as long as the phone works and runs the programs I need. While I think I like the size of the Pocket better, I love the ruggedness of this phone. Since you mentioned on the Titan Slim video that Unihertz is planning another keyboard phone, my suggestion is this. Make something between the Titan and the Titan pocket. So make it a 4x4 inch display and make it rugged like the Titan. I don’t care about 5g but that will make it more enticing to the latest crowd. Make sure you include channel 71 for LTE so when you can only get 4g. Finally, make it have a removable battery. I think this would be a great compromise and do everything well.
    Thank you for doing 2023 update videos for all of the Unihertz Titan line. I will probably be getting one of these in the near future.

    • @Amiga3000D
      @Amiga3000D 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Since I left this comment, I have purchased the Titan. I am really liking this phone and everything it does. I wish Unihertz would continue the security updates for this phone. I may try to figure out how to put LineageOS on but for now I am good.
      I actually really like the size. Comparing it to a modern smart phone like my wife’s iPhone 13, the Titan is wider but shorter than the iPhone 13. I love the ruggedness of the phone and the feel of the various textures on the phone. Using the keyboard is pretty good but the one thing that could be better in the next phone is the key design itself. The keys are too flat to easily differentiate the keys. Having them be round like the old Palm Treo/Pre or more like wedges on the BlackBerrys would make it easier to find the key you want especially when you aren’t looking at the phone. Otherwise I am very happy with this phone. If there is to be a new Titan family phone coming out, I hope they make a change with the keys and that it has a removable battery.

    what some phone companies fail to understand is that all people like myself who want a keyboard want. Calls, text, email, WhatsApp Nav our favorite music streaming app, and Bluetooth. that's it all that other crap keep it out snapdragons and 8k screens etc etc! All that other stuff can be done at home on a tablet or laptop. I don't like watching things and a call interrupts me anyway. I just want to be able to have that on my classic. @StevealiciousTech - thanks for all the info, it was super useful.
    A couple of things I want to clarify, cause I'm considering buying one of these:
    1. You never see the software keyboard when you type, right? On none of the apps?
    2. My native language is Slavic, so I would have to rely on Russian (layout) for typing in it, right?
    3. I use very often special characters and on the standard software keyboard I have two additional "layout-like" keys for those - one with the numbers and one with the special characters themselves. So - how is this solved here?
    4. On the standard keyboard I have option for inserting animated gif and I use it a lot, in various apps. So - can I do this on physical keyboard as well?

    Got the Titan Pocket new and got the secondhand Titan later. I liked the Titan a lot for the exact reason you mentioned. However, there was no case available (sold out) then, and the unit was somewhat faulty as vibration for unlock caused the unit somewhat squeaky and watching youtube caused the screen noiseful (typical with low power SOC) so I returned the unit. Now using the Titan Pocket as the second device, I like it but for the larger screen and the case being back in stock, I am thinking of getting the Titan again on the next member's day. I am wondering that weired vibration noise (metal plate on the power button side sounded like being loose) was unique to my secondhand device. How about yours?

      After researching dumb phones and feature phones, I have found that people are still even recommending certain phones that run custom Android 7 versions.
      That being said if there are people out there buying and using phones that run Android 7, as long as it isn't older than Android 6 your fine. So the Titan running Android 10 should be perfect for anyone who uses their device for basic personal needs and work.
      I intend to buy one and use it with/for the Blackberry suite+keyboard, banking apps, email, calls, and texting/messaging.
      As long as you aren't experimenting with lots of software, shady stuff, tweaking/tinkering, or etc. you should be fine having this as a daily carry.

    Don't know anything about Unihertz, but how did they get the rights to make the Blackberry Passport? God I miss the Passport.

      They didn’t. Change just enough, and it’s not technically copying. That said, I bet things would be different if TCB or whoever was actually still making and selling blackberry phones.
