    This scene has so much in it. The absolute despair in Wormtongue's voice when he realises his boys dropped the ball, the absolute certainty of Gandalf's walk knowing that the lads would take care of the heavy work, the cloak drop moment. Total masterpiece.

      I love the fact booting Saruman out of Theoden also drains/tires Gandalf out as the battle of minds takes place, you can see he's genuinely drained by the encounter, which is brilliant again.

Lee, having fought in World War 2 and being apart of the British Intelligence, gave Peter Jackson a tutorial on what someone really sounds like being stabbed in the back. Jackson didn't push the topic further and directed as was instructed by Lee. I think there's a video on youtube of their interaction.

    The detail I find fascinating was cut from this clip - right at the beginning, as Gandalf & co. walk into the room, Grima whispers into Theoden's ear that Gandalf's there.
    The implication being that Saruman would hear those words, drop whatever he was doing at the time and join the call, which becomes apparent as Gandalf unleashes his white power.

    While the movie version was visually stunning, it lacked the subtlety of Theodin’s possession by wormtounge in the book. He was poisoned by words for years, not possessed by Sauroman physically. The Ishtari were not allowed to use their supernatural powers while on earth either

      @@toryquinton2677 Not really familiar with LotR, isn't the Istari with the title of; "the White" in charge of their fellows? With Gandalf gaining that title does he effectively take Sauromans place, and does he react in any way to pretty much being fired for currying favor with Sauron?

    • @DarkEcho119
      @DarkEcho119 ปีที่แล้ว

      @toryquinton2677 So then their color title isn't to do with their authority within their group, or which Valar they served, but their character alignment? Like being Lawful Good? Gandalf wasn't promoted to Sauromans role after his fall from grace then, but he does seem to be more powerful after his fight with the Balrog, and now goes by The White. If that marks him as having pure aspirations, why send five guys with four different.. aspirations, rather than all sharing the same goal? Gandalf was the only one to do his job in the end, no? Is that a reflection of his alignment or the Valar he serves? Did none of them receive any oversight from their 'bosses'?

    For everyone who doesn't know about lore in this scene, Gandaft was once called "The Grey wizard" which come from his robe color and that form is his nerf form because all wizards in Lotr are once the gods who reincarnate to the human form to help human even Saruman too, Now we see that Gandalf become white which he gain this power by dieing fighting the giant monster name "Barok" then he sent to heaven and reincarnate again with his full power that why White robe is more powerful than grey one

    I like how Gandalf disguised himself by wearing grey cloak made Saruman underestimated him. If Saruman knew Gandalf was stronger than him, he could have killed Theoden immediately.
    If Theoden died, Rohan couldn’t be saved.
    Without the help of Rohan, Gondor would be defeated.
    Aragorn couldn’t led his army to distract Sauron, creating an opportunity for Frodo and Sam to destroy the ring.
    Only a small detail changed the fate of a whole world.
