All good choices and three of the best voices in rock. The intensity of the guitar solo in Wasted Sunsets makes it my favourite of the three. It's unmistakably Richie Blackmore. Blackmore apparently disliked Holy Man and just did a single take of the solo using a screwdriver he found in the studio as a slide. Soldier of Fortune he has continued to perform with Blackmore's Night and Rainbow.
Glen also worked with Tommy Bolin; Album 75 album Teaser, then when Blackmore left Deep Purple Tommy Bolin done 76 album Come taste the band; Deep Purple. Glen really got around with many different groups.
Wow, a bit hard to keep track with all these Mark 1/2/3 lineups and band crossovers! Just learning now about Rainbow as well. Thanks so much for watching!
Soldier of Fortune is Coverdale's most beautiful ballad, while Wasted Sunsets is Ian Gillans best ballad - in my opinion of course. You want more ballads of David Coverdale? Try the title track of his first solo album Northwinds. One of my favourites since I bought the album in the 70's. Other great ballads of the 70's are Catch the Rainbow & Rainbow Eyes of Rainbow (singer: Ronnie Dio) and Rain & Why Did You Go of Uriah Heep (singer: David Byron).
Nice surprise again bud! I liked your choice of ballads…..I liked all three songs. You’ll need to listen to “Hold On” from Stormbringer, it features both David and Glenn on vocals, and Jon has a little funky piano going on! Lol
Yea, wanted some ballads this time. Lazy MIJ 100% on their next go around, then some 90s DP on the following go around. What do you think of their later era material? Added Hold On to the list!
Later DP is still amazing! The 1996 album Perpendicular, was the first to feature Steve Morse on guitar. He is to date DPs longest tenured guitarist. There are two other albums not featured on Spotify that are very worthy of a listen…..Abandon from 1998 (last album with Jon Lord) and Bananas from 2003, which of course was the first to feature Don Airey on keyboards. Don, fortunately plays much in the style of Jon (IMO), and after over twenty years in the band has obviously settled in quite nicely. They have a new album very close to release (there’s a preview song on Spotify), which will be the first with new guitarist Simon McBride. Simon, some say, plays in much the same style as Ritchie.
DEEP PURPLE is on the program? No question of missing this! And as anticipated, a real pleasure! Coverdale's voice (obvious similarity to that of Robert Plant) on "Soldier Of Fortune" and Blackmore's guitar on "Wasted Sunsets": a delight for the ear. Thanks, Brandon.
@@ponytrekker8996 However, I had carefully used the word "similar" because it has more of a sense of "close", "resembling" than of "same". Furthermore, I did not suggest that this "similarity" was confirmed throughout the song. Perhaps I should have chosen a less ambiguous adjective. Sorry. Sincerely.
I have never liked Glenn Hughes vocals. However, this is one of David Coverdale's outstanding vocal performances. As for Ian Gillan, he is my favourite rock vocalist. For me, he can do no wrong.
@@retroreactions.... Yes! And into the 2000s. I saw them live on 29 April 2007 on their "Rapture of the Deep" tour. They were fantastic! And they were supported by 'Thin Lizzy' featuring several original members! It was absolute fire! ❤🔥
Great! Hopefully you'll like my 90s DP picks in 2 turns from now. Next turn will be Lazy from Made in Japan....Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy on the same bill??? You must have been the happiest bunny in all of the UK! 😀
@@retroreactions.... Yes I was!!! With Thin Lizzy featuring keyboardist Darren Wharton, guitarists John Sykes and Scott Gorham who all played on the 'farewell tour' when I saw them in 1983 at the same venue. Anything from Made in Japan is going to be a treat. You must listen to the original of "Strange kind of Woman" sometime so you can listen to the Made in Japan version. It is the best live album of the 70s followed by Thin Lizzy's, "Live and Dangerous"!
Hey Brandon, I knew about Deep Purple but as usual I never listened to any of their songs, so thank you about Soldier Of Fortune, I like it a lot! The other voice I don't, too metal for me. Going to your Patreon now with my meagre contribution ❤😊
Great way to see how good Ritchie was at getting the right voice - along with Rainbow's as well! Glenn Hughes is always the standout one for me and I'd love to hear you do a collection of his own stuff - Space High & Written All Over Your Face are awesome examples - and of course BCC, along with Bonamassa and Bonham now on their 5th album! But Ritchie's always needed good singers around him - to match the way he gets that Strat to sing! Keep 'em coming! ✌
What a combo! 1000 times better than any from McD*n*ld's :) From 1984 - Perfect Strangers, there are 2 more very good picks for later, "Knocking At Your Back Door", a fantastic album opener. and "A Gypsy's Kiss" (is a "Speed King" song). Soldier and Wasted, they belong to that kind of songs that cross that special border wich divides the easy listening songs that disappear after a short time without leaving you anything, and the superior and timeless music.
I don't know....fresh made McNuggets with sweet n sour sauce are hard to beat! 🤣 All great DP ballads today that I really enjoyed. Do you like DP's 90s music?
Three different singers?? How brilliant. Such a great video. I like "Holy Man" the best. I got Chris Cornell vibes in "Soldier of Fortune". Have you all ready done "Perfect Strangers"? So many videos, I can't remember that one. 💙💙💙🎵🎶🎶🎶
Yea, it was really cool to get 3 singers today! Glad you liked them all, especially Holy Man. Yes, I did Perfect Strangers a long time ago which means you watched it! 😀 I know...about 592 videos so far here, even I can't keep track LOL!!!
Hi Brandon. I wasn't particularly following DP but liked John Lord work through the years, but I usually enjoying ballads so I discovered these great songs here, I remembered also "When a blind man cries" which were beautiful. Anyway I liked particularly the guitar solos, very tasty as they are known for. By the way, I would suggest a ballad with Glenn Hughes and John Lord written together, called "This time around" also from 1974 if you like piano with vocals, Glenn is really shining on this, it's the first part of the song that goes to "Owed to G" using the same melody. On the Album "Come taste the band"
Hola!! 💜💜💜💜💜
For pure emotion with majestic guitar and organ the instrumental bonus track Son of Alerik from this album is a timeless masterpiece …give this a listen you will not be disappointed - Blackmore and Lord doing what they do - magic
Blackmore did'nt like the soul and funk that Hughes brought. And Hughes brought out the soul in Coverdale. Stevie Wonder once said Glenn Hughes was his favorate white singer. Peace
Such different vibes from Deep Purple's ballads, but they're just as strong as the crazy rockin tunes! Thanks for watching! 💜
RIP Jon Lord
For sure. Need to feature him again solo on the channel....
I agree Wasted Sunsets is the best ( first time hearing).
Hello. Glad we agree on Wasted Sunsets being our favorite! Thanks for giving it a listen. I appreciate you stopping by Reinaldo 😊
Some other ballads to check out: When a Blind Man Cries(1972), This Time Around/Owed To G(1975) and Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming(1996).

Hello. Glad you enjoyed my picks today! Thanks for watching and for the additional info 🙂
Great to hear the different vocals. I think vocals for wasted sunset gets my vote!
Yea 3 lead vocalists from 1 band was pretty cool to hear today! Ian Gillan pretty hard to beat for many no doubt!
Glen also worked with Tommy Bolin; Album 75 album Teaser, then when Blackmore left Deep Purple
Tommy Bolin done 76 album Come taste the band; Deep Purple.
Glen really got around with many different groups.

Absolutely, keep on a rockin, lol.
I shall! 😁

Hello Josef! Thanks so much for sharing your suggestions. I'm glad I picked 2 from DP that you love. Thanks also for being first here today! 🥇
You’re leaving out when a blind man cries…
I just love "Soldier of fortune "😅
Been a Deep Purple fan since Machine Head, and MKIII has always been my favorite lineup.
i LOVE Holy man
Ian gillan is the vocie of deep purple

SO cool that they are still active, and with some of the OG members! Excited for their 90s work...
Just giving these another listen. You should check on TH-cam, there’s a duet with Ian Gillan and Pavarotti song “Nessun Dorma”!!
Ritchie, rises from the ashes with 2 fingers raised. Stick that up yer Deep Purple Mk 10 or whatever it is now.
From MK II, III, IV
when a blind man cries, sail away, soldier of fortune, you Keep On Moving
Timeless top ballads

Great! Deep Purple always a treat 😊 More great music in my daily routine of being spoiled! Have a wonderful day!
Coverdale didn’t sound all like plant. His voice is too deep and bluesy.

Hey! I'm happy that you like one of my song picks today ☺ Thanks so much for joining Patreon!!! I sent you a message over there as well....
I totally agree. All three songs are very beautiful, but Wasted Sunsets is a step above.

KFC much much better 4 me.
90's ? In that decade the death of the GREAT music began, and I can only rescue minimal things from then on.
Haha, well Chick Fil A beats them all but I don't think they exist where you live. Ah OK....no 90s for Jorgito!

Crazy huh...of course I see many TH-cam creators that have like 2,000-5,000 videos!!! That's dedication 😊
I would say your dedicated. For Sure! Have a good night Brandon. 😃
True, and my process takes longer than most reactors haha...Good night Renee 🤗
TRÊS HERMOSAS BALADAS DE PURPLE PERO WASTED SUNSET,ES SUBLIME!!!!💜💜🎸🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥

Ah dude, if you're a keyboard lover, you've gotta check out the album Who Do We Think We Are where Lord shines.
Sunsets is the best 1984.
Glenn Hughes said he'll never talk to anybody from purple again nobody cares Glen Deep Purple is Ian Gillan
Blackmore did'nt like the soul and funk that Hughes brought. And Hughes brought out the soul in Coverdale. Stevie Wonder once said Glenn Hughes was his favorate white singer. Peace
Strange version, sorry is radiolike....
