I sing at church and daily at home, especially during 3am prayer time. My baby is 5 days old and wakes up at 3am every morning (as she did in utero) for praise and worship. I sing the same songs to her and they soothe her whenever she is crying!
Thank you Penny, I think it is wonderful that you are bringing about awareness of communicating with our unborn and newborn babies and beyond. Singing can be a wonderful tool for parents that they can use well into childhood with their children. I believe that we need to learn to connect with our babies and children and respect their humanity. Thank you for all the work you so gently share with everyone interested.
i'm doing research for a story i'm writing, and i was kinda "blah" about it. it's research for me at the moment. but then came up the first family, and when the dad sang to the newborn, my heart was a bit fluttery. then was the little sister, and when she sang to her baby sister, it killed me. so sweet how she is so nervous at first, faltering in her song, but as soon as she gets encouragement and sees how her sister responds, she starts again and sings. i cried. that was so sweet^^ if i ever have a child, i know what i'll do.
How wonderfully beautiful! Such special video footage. I sang "Baby Beluga" to my daughter all the time I was while pregnant, and she definitely recognized it after she was born.

This is what I had surmised on my own. I've bee singing the Skye Boat song to my baby for awhile now. It is interesting to see how the babies reacted to familiar songs. I think it is a great connection between the world they knew and our world.
