    Hey Rob- Just picked up a Yamaha 242LS. Thanks for a great video! I look forward to seeing on oil change as well. Don't worry about technique. It's all about content!

      Hi Steve, congrats on the boat, i know you'll love it. i am working on the oil change real soon, i am hoping within the next week or so, Florida has been getting a lot of rain lately, so its been tough getting out there to do it. thanks for watching..

    Rob You have the best videos thanks so much. Any ideas why why cruise control would stop working but no wake mode still works? Tried changing out the switch but it is not that.

      Joseph Porreca Joseph, i had the same issue with my 2012 BUT, it fixed itself so I have no frickin clue why it does it. I have heard from a few people that the RPMs required for the cruise sometimes gets out of wack in the computer and doesn't read it right.. have you talked with a dealer? Could be as simple as running a diagnostic and maybe a software upgrade...

      Ugh talk to a dealer that sounds awful. I might stop by there tomorrow. Anyway your videos are the best. Did all my own stuff based on your video this year.

    Thank you! Very helpful. How do I know if the ignition coil need to be replaced?

    • @robsyamahajetboatdiymainte4162
      @robsyamahajetboatdiymainte4162  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly, I am not positive on the coil, but my limited knowledge of that would have me looking for rough idle, misfires, and loss of power on acceleration. You can try taking out a plug, leaving it in its jacket, and cranking over the motor to check for a spark on the plug. No, or weak spark, might be an indicator.

    Hey tjordan71, thanks for watching my videos and I hope they have helped. I know I mentioned it in the spark plug video but I have not had much time to do it yet. I am planning on doing it very soon. Are you looking to change your oil soon? If so and you are looking for a guide to follow then please let me know and I can get the stuff and do it this week for you.
    If you are looking to change your own oil soon then you will need a few things first.. You will need an oil pump to get the oil out.. I purchased a JABSCO Oil Changer from Amazon and it ran me about $140 (link below). Its a 12volt pump and connects right to the battery.. simple. Oil filters; I recommend getting from a dealer, prices are all relatively the same, about $23-$26 each. And of course the oil.. Your choice...
    If you have any other questions or suggestions let me know.

    Hey rob how do you adjust the plug if you need more or less of a gap? Thank you

    • @robsyamahajetboatdiymainte4162
      @robsyamahajetboatdiymainte4162  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the plug gap needs to be adjusted, you will need a sparkplug gap tool. You can get one at any auto parts store or even Walmart. The link below is one of many different types.

    you do know spark plugs need to be tigten with a tork wrench right ?????

    • @robsyamahajetboatdiymainte4162
      @robsyamahajetboatdiymainte4162  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      2FAST4U2. Its not a requirement and with only 7 to 10 lbs of torque for plugs most torque wrenches dont click at such a low setting.. getting them slug enough to not come lose is what i am looking for so they dont cross thread or strip. Not using a torque wrench will not effect performance (unless they come lose, lol).. Thanks for the comments.

      @@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte4162 there are torque wrenches with inches of torque, use a torque wrench, it is better.

    I can’t get my engine cover screws to unscrew. Any ideas? Maybe seized? Somebody told me to try hitting them with a hammer to break them loose?

    • @robsyamahajetboatdiymainte4162
      @robsyamahajetboatdiymainte4162  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Grab some penetrating oil, spray it so it can drip down the threads and let sit for an few hours. You may have to move the rubber seals around using a small flat head to make sure the oil drips down. Lowes sells a product called Blaster penetrating oil. Also, I used a Philips head ratchet so I could get better pressure on the turn rather than a screwdriver... you could also try a few very, very, very light taps with a hammer to try and break it free..
