    Just wanted to say thanks for the video. Have a 17ar240, took it out for first time this season and one engine would not get over 6k rpms, other was fine. I watched your video, did oil, filters, plugs, fuel additive, and followed your video, went out tonight and both engines are now at 7500 rpms running perfect. Pretty sure you saved me a few hundred dollars and a lot of hassle hauling boat to dealer for service!

      That’s great news, good to hear. It’s also great seeing people do their own maintenance on their equipment. It gets real expensive real quick at shops. Happy boating, you’ll love that boat!

    Great video. I do mine by myself most of the time so I have an on/off at the end of the hose so I can turn water off from inside boat. I imagine you ended up touching up the oil level after you got enough in the oil filters once the engines ran a while. I take an extra quart with me fist time out as water does a great job of leveling boat. I haven’t been changing my plugs every season, I have read arguments on both sides of that subject, but as you said might as well while you wait on oil to drain . Thx for video.

    Ps. You should do a video on winterizing :)

    • @justinjames1719
      @justinjames1719  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never winterize mine it always stayed in my shop in above freezing temperature.
      The only winterization I did was blow the water out of the motors put my batteries on the tinder filled my gas tank up and put blue marine stabil in it and then started my boat up once a month 15 seconds per motor just to get the cylinders lubed.

    Outstanding video Justin. Really appreciate you taking the time to make. I’m in my few months of owning a 2013 242 S Limited. My first jetBoat and we’ve had a blast with it. Just hit 100 hours and plan to change oil, plugs, and then inspect and grease impeller. Any tips or suggestions for impeller maintenance or landmines to look for? I feel like my starboard motor is a bit noisier than port, but maybe I’m over sensitive. Thanks again.

    • @justinjames1719
      @justinjames1719  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you bud, greasing impeller is a pain in a$$ I’ve heard, have not done that yet. Soon though.
      I would check impellers quite often, looking underneath at them and also reaching down clean out ports and feeling them. Any kind of imperfections in them can cause noises and vibrations. I’ll get back to you on the greasing of impeller shaft. Thank you.

    • @justinjames1719
      @justinjames1719  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For winterization honestly, mine stays in my heated shop. So I just fill fuel to the top and add marine stabil additive, keep my batteries on tenders and start my motors once a month to keep cylinders lubed.
      If I didn’t want to start boat every month I could fog the intake and cylinders but I’d rather just start it.
      I also keep all my cushions hinged up and any filler cushions stored away in bags. Toilet is winterized and stored away too. My buttoned in gator step has been washed/scrubbed with dawn soap and stored also in bags.

    Thanks for the video. What is the purpose of having the hose attached if the purpose is to have no water in the motor during oil change?

    • @justinjames1719
      @justinjames1719  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s called running your boat on a fake lake.
      You gotta warm up the oil before an oil change so it all comes out of the motor if you don’t have water running to your boat it will overheat and hurt the motor.
