This was a very easy desert to make. I used Gravenstein apples for my tree. Very delicious think I’m going to make them for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Yes they are that good. Thanks, Dana.
My mom used to make these. They're so good. She had a hard time with the pie dough so didn't make them often. She ended up doubling the recipe and using a larger pan so she could save a bit of dough for patching, and she used the egg white like glue,lol. Thanks for sharing the recipe- I never got it from my mom. One thing- i think the milk is about half a cup, not 2/3s. When you add the milk to the egg, it should make 2/3 cup. Thanks again, my kitchen smells like my childhood.

My 92 year neighbour made this dessert when she discovered my son had an egg allergy. She told me to make the crust without the egg and brush it with milk and sugar instead of a egg wash. It is one of our favourite desserts and make it for Christmas. We always call it Mrs Hysiuk’s Apple bar.
I have reviewed so many apple videos, before and after yours, but I keep coming back to yours. You don't have anything annoying (except for your jingle in the beginning but I can get passed that). Thank you for keeping it simple & authentic.

In my opinion it is better than pie, the crust is richer and I like the meringue with the glaze. MMMMMmmmm
