I want the next Luigi’s Mansion to be set in a haunted amusement park.
Agreed! In LM3 they really stretched the mansion concept to cover all sorts of themed floors (which was great) but it makes me feel like instead of doing LM4 they should do something new a la “Luigi Land” or “Luigi’s Castle”.
Basically they should continue the same series in a refreshed setting! There’s a lot of potential for spooky stuff.

It baffles me how much money they make, while ALWAYS in some way crippling all products they put out. On top of that, they refuse to do so many 'duh' things (like a netflix like legacy content service).

In a world where Indie developers have been singlehandedly holding up the Metroidvania genre for years and you can get amazing Metroidvanias for $20- $30 bucks; I don't know if a $60 2D Metriod will be able to shine as bright as it should.
We will see though, hope enough people are curious enough to hop into one Nintendo's best franchises.

I'd be down for it but maybe they could do it like the Sonic Mania cartoon, where the characters don't talk and yet it's still entertaining. That way you don't run into the awkward problem of having these characters consistently speaking. Maybe they could make little Luigi's Mansion shorts or something.
How is this inevitable? Luigi's mansion isn't the monolith that Mario is as a whole, and we still managed to see a Mario amusement park before a proper movie. I'd say it's highly unlikely.
I'm just happy that Luigi is finally getting the love and recognition he deserves. Even Wario got several games before Luigi did, but Luigi's games have stood the test of time and have become classics and a pillar of Nintendo's game repertoire. Not even Star Fox and Metroid have gotten this much love

I will say this. Watching the intro to this game makes me wish nintendo can make more story based games with these characters and also make a tv show or shorts with these animations. I loved it I was so amazed how great the cut scenes look
A lot of people feel that giving a game more story means complex character development and lots of world building. Honestly I just wanna see Luigi and Mario being bros getting into shenanigans.
I love the character of Luigi so much. He's happy to let his brother take the spotlight but is really supportive of him, he's terrified all the time but despite that still does the things that scare him in order to save his friends, in Odyssey when you put the wedding dress on Mario his only comment is that he's upset he didn't get invited to the wedding...he's just great.
Dude, to this day, there are almost always others playing LM3’s online multiplayer. For a mode that shouldn’t be sustainable, it's lasting quite a long time.

Seeing as Luigi's Mansion 3 deviated from the 'mansion' setting, it would be interesting to see a potential next game taking place in perhaps a haunted theme park or a huge cruise ship.

I think it'd finally be a cool way to incorporate Daisy into a Luigi game since they're always shown to have some sort of connection. Imagine King Boo and Hellen Gravely take over Daisy's castle in Sarsasaland and Luigi has to save her, and the castle becomes this huge, GIANT haunted area you get to explore the whole game. Sort of like the first LM on the gamecube but like 5x as big so the game is way longer.
A lot of the Hotel is basically a theme park already and feels disjointed because of that, but if they actually properly lean into the setting I can see it doing better for it.
@@xXEPIKgamerXx yeah this is the one complaint I have with the game, some of the floors just dont make sense most of the time. Like, why is there an entire floor dedicated to the pirate theme while having a goddamn ocean in it? I dont care who you are, that wouldn't work in any multistory structure, and because of this, the game's immersion is pretty fucked now. I beat the game thinking, "how has all that sand, water, plant matter, and other shit not completely collapsed this 15 story building that seems pretty old?"

I had never played a luigis mansion game, and specifically purchased it to play as a good co-op game with my wife. We had a blast with it, and would gladly buy a sequel.
Here's hoping they at least port 1 and 2, and retrofit co-op into them, for folk like you while we're waiting for 4.
I’ve now realised what the biggest formula for nintendo success is:
1. Put Luigi in it
2. Money
The Sonic Boom cartoon was actually surprisingly well-written and fun to watch compared to the infamous version of the game most people know.
It also came out before the games.
As much as I adore Luigi's Mansion 3, for the assumed next installment I would love it if they went back to the tone of the original Luigi's Mansion. Sure it had some goofy cartoonish charm, but it still had this palpable atmosphere of dread and spookiness. Dark Moon and 3 feel like a Halloween Special to a Saturday morning cartoon.

I prefer they return back to the original ghost designs obviously with some new enemy types as well, but if nothing else, it'll be a good day if I never have to fight a blue goober again. I hate those smug caspar wannabes and their weird full finger hands! Remove the slam from the sucking portion of combat to top it off that's a recipe for a good time!
@@xXEPIKgamerXx definitely agree. In the very least they could done something like Mario + Rabbids where as you progress, the enemies get stronger instead just giving them different objects(Most that don't do jack) and spawning more of them.

I do feel like despite what Arlo says, it does somewhat rely on it being Mario related, I think he kinda fails to mention that even once. Everyone loves Mario, and a game about a Mario character is just naturally gonna sell well. But hey, what do I know, Wario, DK, AND Yoshi were able to make a namesake without Mario’s blessing eventually.
Wario, DK, and Yoshi games do NOT sell as well as Luigi's Mansion 3 did. So even that kinda backs up Arlo's point
Luigi could easily be completely separated from Mario in his next LM outing so long as the gameplay is kept just as good as it is. Actually, it'd be really, REALLY cool if the next LM game canonized Luigi and Daisy's relationship by having Daisy be the main character that Luigi is attempting to save.

They should have Daisy and Waluigi in the next Luigi’s Mansion game, they deserve more appearances and they are tied to Luigi so it would make a lot of sense.
I think that if Waluigi appeared in a mainline Nintendo game, it would be Luigi’s Mansion. Maybe not as the primary antagonist, maybe even as a secondary protagonist. Make it so that Wario got kidnapped or something and he just helps you for that reason, like Bowser Jr in Bowser’s Fury. Maybe even have him be a Player 2 character

If you wanna watch a good luigi's mansion adaptation, I'd personally recommend watching "Luigi's Mansion the musical" by Blake and Josh. (Who just made a Super Mario Sunshine Musical aswell)
Their Luigi's Mansion Musical is pretty much a life action adaptation of the main parts of the first game, with an original intro, and deserves more attention :)

I don't think a tv "show" is the best for Luigi's Mansion, a series of shorts would fit the format much better; like the Pikmin shorts or those new Mickey mouse shorts. That would be amazing.

You know what’s a good thing Nintendo could do with the Luigi’s mansion property? Create legacy character plushies. Like sue pea, or melody pianissima, or slim bankshot, and certainly cannot leave out the BOY, Mr luggs. Nintendo has so many great opportunities to do this, but they choose not to. It’s very confusing. I know these will definitely sell well.
The first Luigis mansion had so much personality and it genuinely scared me as a kid, I hope they make the next games atmosphere like the first one. I could only imagine how a Luigis mansion focused more on horror would be.

i totally, totally agree, but also, next level games has made other cool stuff like punch-out wii and mario strikers. i'd love just as much for them to make sequels to those games as i would for a new luigi's mansion

Heck, the development of one such weird spin off was what caused them to bring the hammer down on Mario spin offs in the first place, now everything needs to pass the Nintendo code of honor if you can believe that's a thing.
If we get a new strikers title, expect it to be devoid of everything people loved about it, at the very least no Mario characters making obscene gestures or Mario characters beating the shit out of each other.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is probably one of my favorite games. It's a phenomenal work of art. It deserved to sell this well.
On the topic of Scarescraper, one thing I really missed from Dark Moon was the entrees on each ghost you caught in the main game, and even the scarecraper special boss ghosts had special descriptions. Not only that, but instead of the boring monochrome texture changes the special ghosts got in 3, Dark Moon at the least game them all more creative texture changes, making some look like fruit, animals, professions, e.t.c. Sure, it wasn't the most effortful thing, but it was a lot more than 3 had and it is definitely one area I really think 3 is lacking in, a bigger drive to collect.
Not only that but the bosses in 2 actually felt like bosses, usually having one or two big ghost with endlessly spawning ghosts in the background. 3's felt like another battle you have to do with slight changes. Also if they bring back the Scarescracper in 4, I really hope they remove that button that everyone's has to stand on(Including their gooigis) in order to open a door.

Honestly I felt like LM 3 wasn't just a little too short. For me it was a little too LONG and while I enjoyed it, I was pretty well done with it at the end. It's a series that for me, would wear out its welcome quickly if it got frequent releases.
I think people would be alright with the length if it wasn’t a full price game.

Luigi's mansion is one of my favorite spin-off series from Nintendo and to see it doing this well gives me hope for more games like it in the future
I remember someone suggesting a Luigi’s Mansion sequel have King Boo hunting Luigi down similar to SA-X from Metroid Fusion and a video from Duke of Dorks that talked about the idea of Daisy joining Luigi in a fourth game.
Daisy is such an underused character.
Daisy and even Waluigi would be a perfect fit for the series honestly, and a great way to finally put them in SOMETHING.
Having another character joining Luigi could lead to an evolution of Gooigi's mechanics. Like, you could have the characters split up and solve puzzles on either side of the game's "mansion" or something.
Luigi's mansion does have potential to be a big nintendo franchise like splatoon
If it had released in the same year, I bet it would have actually already be outselling it. It's not really a potential thing anymore, it just is a big franchise like Splatoon. The question is if you can keep that up or bring it closer to the level of a Mario or Zelda.

I’d love to see any of this happen. I was too young and never played the original until the 3ds remake, but I started with Dark Moon and I loved it. Sure the ghosts weren’t scary, but they had a charm to them and as a younger kid, some of the bosses I remember being hard and remember how fun they were with the second world boss being literal stairs, the three sisters mini boss, the world 5 fight against the suits of armor, and the gauntlet on top of the clockworks. Then 3 rolled around with the charm I loved from Dark Moon with the things people wanted from the original (I.e. unique boss ghosts and a singular building) and this game was a no questions needed from me and clearly millions agree with this. Hope they do something with the Luigis mansion, but seeing who the development team is, I know they won’t let us down

With how much the game focused on bosses I'd love to see a bosh rush mode with minimal health pickups sorta like The Arena from the Kirby games
I've actually been thinking about a concept for Luigi's Mansion 4. I think it would be cool to go back to the multiple mansion concept and turn it into a large open-world adventure where you explore a whole haunted kingdom. In outdoor environments, the camera will be a bit more flexible and have a more open feel, while inside areas keep the classic "looking into a dollhouse" angle.
I actually had a dream where I was playing a Luigi's Mansion game where you explore these haunted woods and swampland and you need to climb up this giant tree and meet these friendly wooden creatures obscured by hoods.
Also, I had the idea where they put out a collection with remastered versions of the first two games and LM3 added on to it. There's a lot of potential for Luigi's Mansion

I'm so glad that Luigi's Mansion 3 took the best cues from 1. The hotel staff ghosts weren't quite as good as the portrait ghosts, but they were darn close.
Some of the bosses were good, but the Hotel ghosts didn't quite replicate the purpose and appeal of the Portrait ghosts in the original, how they broke up the monotony of room to room exploration and provided unique characters to explore in between combat phases. In LM3 they are *only* bosses, which makes their combat phases more interesting, but it leaves the blue goobers and the small selection of other mobs to carry a majority of the levels, and they don't do so well in that regard. Not to mention there is not as much lore and connections to discover between the hotel ghosts as there were with the portrait ghosts, they are kinda just there to fit their floor's theme and be in the way, mystery and motivation be damned. Well, except Morty, who is the best ghost in the game, despite having one of the worse boss fights lol.

God it’s so easy to how gorgeous these games are. Stick fidelity and hyperrealism up your poltergust, stylization is everything.
A combination of the two is something that LM can really excel in IMO. Not quite Mario, not quite Resident Evil.
I would watch the heck out of a Luigi's mansion show, either a Ghostbusters style "Hired to catch the ghosts" or a Scooby Doo style mystery show. Or the amusement park idea, which fosters different kinds of action, environments, and themes. Let's-a go!

LM1 is my favorite game of all time and I have various gripes with LM3 and NLGs direction of the series but if LM4 happens because the casuals showed up to prove the series deserves attention i'm all for it, every new game is a the very least a chance for the series to improve.
I share the sentiment. Next Level Games just doesn’t understand how to make a faithful Luigi’s Mansion. Though I’ll grant 3 was a considerable improvement over Dark Moon (the ghosts don’t have those abhorrent pupils!)
@@LuxoXeno Couldnt say it better myself. Part of the problem is taking a very focused, replayable 5 hour arcade style metrodvania and turning it into a 20+ hour action game is challenging to say the least. But that can be fixed actually quite easily from a conceptual standpoint with enough elbow grease. The main problem is that NLG doesn't try to replicate the vibe LM1 had whatsoever. growing up my dream sequel for LM was supposed to go harder on the spookier aspects and lean in to its Resident Evil roots while maintaining its unique electronic funky flavor and classic campyness. NLG is doing the exact opposite by generalizing all the flavor out of the game and being rewarded for it through increased casual sales, its a bit of a bummer. Still, LM4 would be mightily improved if they simply took the slam away from combat, because boy does that one mechanic turn the majority of LM3 into a slog!

I really hope they do many more. As said there is so much potential. A haunted amusement park, a haunted museum (expand on Hotel from 3 with exhibits instead of floors), haunted village (be similar to Dark Moon with having multiple buildings, house/manors/pub/castle, but open world vs just transporting into each house.) and many more ideas, haunted seaside resort, etc.
would also love to see an interactive dark ride at one of the parks themed to it where you suck up the ghosts

I wish they put Luigi's Mansion 1 on the Switch. My favorite entry in the series by far
I got into the series right before 3 came out and scooped up both Dark Moon and the 3DS port of the original. As much as I like the series, I think a lot of 3's success is tied to the success of the Switch. Has any major 1st or 2nd party game NOT sold well on the system? Just trying to be realistic, but I hope you are right and the series sees more regular releases going forward.

@@robo-roger7815 True, and I think Nintendo has vastly underestimated the demand for this franchise. But the 3DS also sold tremendously well and Dark Moon was the first game after a 12-year absence, so that naturally pumped up sales, I think. I don't know, I could be totally wrong, and I kind of hope I am. Call me optimistic, but only very cautiously.

Oof. That one hurts my heart.
Luigi's mansion deserves such numbers. It is such a beautiful and relaxing game. I only had one little problem (which is not a problem at all, it is just a suggestion) with the game. You earn a lot of money in the game, but you can only spend it on hints and revive. It would be better to spend it on new items or upgrades, that would allow you to find or reach new places.

Just remember, Arlo - it's possible for a series to become 'too big to fail', thus resulting in any sort of quality control being thrown completely out the window in favour of just making a quick buck annually. See modern Pokémon as an example.
That's certainly true, but Nintendo is very careful about the reputation of their mainline first-party series.
They're no stranger to turning franchises into cash cows, but whenever they do it's always via a spin-off of some kind.
The reason that Pokémon has become so bad is because Nintendo have basically zero creative control, so they just allow The Pokémon Company to do whatever they want and don't get involved. Nintendo clearly aren't proud of Pokémon - in stark contrast to all of the intellectual properties that _they_ created - which is why their logo sparsely appears on anything Pokémon-related.
