Is this a reference to the Morrowind Mage's Guild quest where you have to escort the mage to Pelegiad so he'll give you some notes but the guildmaster subtly suggests that you might as well just murder him and steal the notes?
I love how much of the time, when you give a criticism, you often give alternatives and/or different ideas instead of simply leaving it at a criticism. Like when you criticized the enemy variety and said there could easily be more, you actually gave some more that were good ideas. Most people would simply point out the flaw and move on. It's a small detail but it is noticed and appreciated
True also let's hope that luigi's mansion 4, Have more ghost types, also be actualy dark, so your flashlight is more useful like most of the rooms are so very well lightn that the flashlight feels more of a stun Light gun, insted of a flashlight tool, its just a nicpick but it would help with the looks
I have to agree. I myself struggle with that when I conduct reviews of something that irks me. That said, that is sadly the case for reviews like this. Negativty gets more attention than people who are willing to give it a fair chance or puts it on equal grounds.
That's what constructive criticism is. Unfortunately, it takes a bit more effort than just bashing on the flaws of something, so people prefer to just maliciously mock the product.
Wow, that bitcoin miner you advertised sounds like borderline virus. Mines when you're not using PC? Holy shit. Just take that raid shadow legend deal, please. Don't advertise miners.
@@aaww1010 It's a miner. It uses your GPU to mine, that's what it does. Nothing shady about it. The idea being you can still use your computer to mine when your not using it. It isn't a virus.
There are plenty of programs that do this...SETI and labs devoted to protein folding let people download software that runs when the PC is idle so that they can outsource data processing to volunteers. Not shady at all, depending on the application.
The floors where you rescue Toads or Mario are in my eyes considered major boss ghosts, like the story bosses from the first game. They have significantly shorter floors and virtually no puzzle solving in order to access the boss. These include the theatre, the museum, the pirate ship and the penthouse. Notice how they have almost no content, yet bosses with upwards of three stages. These are not floors, these are dividers to separate the main phases of the game.
Although part of the pirate floor's quest was the area in B2 where you couldn't advance before. I know it's not technically part of it, but I feel like that was the idea.
They're like "boss chambers" they caught me by surprise and I was disappointed they weren't puzzle floors but once I came to terms with that, I loved them and thought they helped with the pacing.
They even have the same motif as dark moon bosses. They both possess objects/creatures to fight luigi, like a giant spider, an armor, a t rex fossil and a piano.
It's kinda sad a random american guy could think this up, but, as far as I know, the big triple A company in japan known infamously for being a bit too experimental at times especially with gimmicks(i.e. motion controls) never seemed to consider the same or even better enemy ideas (lucky for them the game is so charming they could get away with the bare minimum, probably even less)
The problem I have with Luigi's Mansion now is that the first one feels like the outlier. The 2nd and 3rd feel like they are related, unlike the first one who feels more like something that inspired them. The atmosphere they share is another problem I have. Luigi's Mansion 1 felt like a PG parody of the horror genre, with weird and moody atmosphere and architecture, while Luigi's Mansion 2 and 3 feel like a Fisher-Price version of the horror genre.
Or a deadbeat mom who gave out imitation cheese slices while the dad was doing the best he could to take care of his kid(s). Fun fact: kraft singles aren't allowed to be labeled cheese since they're
As someone who has beaten the first game well over 40 times, I can say I really enjoy the 3rd game. I respect your opinions and see where you’re coming from but I never really found myself being very annoyed with the backtracking or the pilterkitty, I enjoyed the floors so much that it wasn’t annoying for me to go back to them. I can say that the game is match better on the 2nd and 3rd playthrough. But this is a great video nevertheless 👍
I couldn't agree more, I'm a fan of the first game and I even like the second (but not to the same degree). LM3 exceeded all my expectations though and is probably my favorite if it weren't for the nostalgia edge LM1 has.
Totally agree. I’m currently replaying the third and I absolutely love it! The first one will always be my favorite, but this game’s uniqueness made me enjoy every bit of it (even the back-tracking). Dark moon is a different story lmao, never did like that one
Yeah... The only viable situation would be some college kid who's mommy gave them a gaming computer. They would just be leeching off the college, effectively stealing electricity to superclock their graphics card all day long.
@@orc001 but even then they would be better off to just use their gpu to directly mine crypto, instead of giving them a cut of his money. Also, it's probably more ethical to pirate the games instead of wasting energy and public money
The sole problem I had with this game is the atmosphere. I need the rooms to be dark and have no power until you beat them. If I walk into a room and the lights are already on it just takes away from the dark and ominous feel of the game
Imo, while I still prefer the first game because of the more "grounded" vibe and setting, as well as its collection of interesting and unique characters and gameplay elements, Luigi's Mansion 3 strikes me as an objective improvement over Dark Moon, and so I feel like it does succeed as a sequel in that regard
Hard disagree immediately. This was waaaaaaaayyy better than Dark Moon, I loved it. Brought me back to the days of playing and replaying the original on my purple lunchbox.
I agree that it's way better than Dark Moon. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word sequel lmao. I compare the game to the first one, and briefly mention that I got bored with Dark Moon lol
@@TheSaltFactory Fair enough, I have a habit of jumping the gun on the title lol. Always like hearing your perspective regardless :) this is great work as always!
@@TheSaltFactory I don't really agree a lot of points in the video and found this game to be far superior to the first game. It's funny how you expressed being bored in this game when I found it fun the entire way through, while I experienced being much more bored of the (in my opinion) more repetitive nature of the first game. Though your video was still good and there were point's that I really agreed with. I just found that this game surpassed the first one in almost every way (for me). Then again everyone has their own opinion on things and it's completely fine for you to be disappointed and for me to view this game as one of my favorites. I guess well just disagree on this one, but that's fine.
Hard disagree from me. I really liked Dark Moon and loved LM1, but LM3 just felt lackluster all around. It felt like it copied parts of the first two games, but not enough from either.
If you ask me, the biggest thing Luigi's Mansion is missing is overall world cohesion. They say this all takes place in one 'mansion' now unlike Dark Moon, but in practice, every floor is completely separate from one another. This admittedly would make design harder, but perhaps they could have made it so you progressed to new floors on foot and the elevator was just a quick travel sort of thing? It could've also lead to some cool stuff if you see the floors transitioning from one to another, or maybe you're going back and forth between floors and using their attributes on one another. Again, much easier said than done but I have high expectations for Nintendo and Next Level Games.
I’m not gonna lie and I know a lot of people will hate me for saying this but I was bored with this game I stopped playing it after the first 30mins. The first Luigi’s Mansion will always be the best.
As a fan of Luigi's Mansion 2, I actually really enjoyed this one. However, I have some issues. 1. Similar floors to 2. The dumb plant themed floor, (which is my least favorite mansion theme from 2) the medieval floor, and the egyptian floor all remind me of mansions from 2, to the point where I was expecting an ice themed floor. 2. Length. The game is too long imo to have the same ranking feature as 1. Either shorten it by removing the polterkitty bits, or remove ranks as a whole. Boos gems and achievements are enough imo. 3. Meaningless Powerups. For me the plunger and gooigi either don't affect, or harm normal gameplay. There's too many tools to know what you need to do sometimes. It made for great bosses, (I like 3s bosses the most out of all the games) but they're mainly forgettable. Especially the *Super Succ* which when I got it, I said audibly: "This is gonna be one of those powerups used once or twice in the game, isn't it?" And I haven't gotten all the gems, but so far there's only been outlet for that powerup. I expected it to be a major part of the final boss, but no, just use gooigi to slam king boo. 4. Money problems. I was expecting money to give you minor upgrades, just like in 2, But it's worth fuck all. Bones are a dumb way to remove difficulty from a balanced game, and anyone who wants to get the gems and boos "the real way" is gonna just hunt on their own; while anyone who doesn't care is just gonna look up the locations online. Thus, making money useless besides rank, which I've already mentioned. That's it for my ted talk, I might have had more minor problems, but I actually really loved this game. It's kind of like color splash for paper mario. There are things that it's great at in it's own right, but it's not very faithful to the original game. Especially these graphics, I'm blown away by the cutscenes and the physics engine.
I personally LOVED this game. The puzzles, the enemies, the graphics, the art style, the characters the controls, they’re all a clear evolution from the previous games. I experienced a couple of technical issues, but nothing game breaking, plus I played it on release day so they might have been fixed with an update by now.
I am beginning to hate LM3. For the first few hours the game is exciting and fun (I had a longer pause after playing for 5 hours or so, I continued playing recently). After a while I noticed that the combat was easy, no new challenging ghosts got introduced. Exploring kind of gets boring, you just get money in expected spots, it didn't feel rewarding and I lost the motivation to collect gems. Some parts of this game are not designed coherently, at least for me. Be it some unexpected or un-introduced boss or level mechanic. One example is the cinema level. You are expected to know that Luigi can carry items through the TVs, but I don't think that gets properly introduced to the player. You have to water a small green plant, that looks like it belongs to the backdrop. That was not coherent to me at all. That is probably also why this professor giddy or whatever constantly calls you and explains stuff to you. Seems like the devs noticed the game is illogical, or maybe it's because the game is designed for little children, idk Then there is annoying padding. The golden elevator buttons are stolen from you, so you have to go and get them back. This game seems to have a lot unnecessary stuff like this. Furthermore I don't really love the controls, they often hindered me. Often Luigi takes a lot of time to recover from taking damage or falling down small heights, which was annoying and slow to me. This game isn't a platformer, but I personally like good responsive and reasonably fast controls. The game didn't seem to have that. That might be just personal preference, though. The frame rate is another thing. I don't know what the game targets, but pretty often it seems like the game is running at 30 fps or often even less than that. Right now I am disappointed and even pretty much angry at the game, it just feels like a waste of time. I currently just want to rush through it so I can play an actually good game that is worth my time.
I haven't watched the video yet (I will!), I just want to just add my voice to the "I liked 3 way more than 2" crowd. Neither as much as 1, though. But 3 is close. 2 isn't bad though... a bit forgettable, but I liked it enough to finish it and then play it again a year later.
My problem with Luigi’s Mansion 3 is that catching ghosts just doesn’t feel good at all, Possibly even more so than Dark Moon. The original had you wiggling the stick in tons of directions and it just felt so great but with 3 it feels like a button masher.
Exactly! It's his subjective opinion, not an objective one, which means he's not wrong. You may disagree with The Salt Factory, but that doesn't make his opinion invalid. Just like people who don't say the world is flat, which is wrong, but those who think it is flat, which makes them correct! Because even though the world isn't flat, it's their subjective opinion on the subject and even though it may not be objectively factual, subjectively they're correct! Or something! So when I say in my opinion people who disliked are just salty that makes me 100% correct! /s
leaving a dislike is just an opinion as valid as his opinion, just because people don't agree with you doesn't mean you have to cry about it that goes for everyone
@@keimist7398 There's a pretty obvious difference between disliking out of blind, "how dare you criticize Luigi's mansion" and disliking because you genuinely didn't enjoy the video or found his criticisms and points to be weak.
@@quantomfizzle67 thats why i said dont cry about it, i meant to include said dislikes and anyways crying about people who leave dislikes because they are butthurt just makes you dumb.
I thought the CHEAPEST part of the game was going back to the basement for an "upgrade" you literally only use to clear the 1 obstacle. I also didnt like the water map because the controls to do a full spin on the float were a bit janky
Dealing with that boss was incredibly annoying. The way the rotating controls were different every time you set the inner tube down made this boss was obnoxiously difficult
Yeah, they could have done SO MUCH MORE with the super vacuum, like utilize it to finish off King Boo, for example. Also agree on the controls on the water, that boss fight was super-frustrating.
@JungleBubble The game gave me anxiety with the amount of back tracking and what feels like tedium. It constantly feelings like you're doing the same thing on every level just with a new theme painted on. I wouldn't recommend unless you're big on Nintendo games and dont mind the repetitive feel
For someone that never ever played or even heard about this game, i have to say, this vid is convincing enough to look up the prices of an Nintendo Switch
I'm glad they took away the mission structure and brought back unique ghosts, however, there were so many things Dark Moon did that I liked better. 3 is somehow even more linear and has even less ghost variety than Dark Moon. 3 gave you some various tedious things to do that Dark Moon rewarded you for. Money actually had a gameplay purpose and you're rewarded for capturing boos and not just with a fancy new flashlight filter. Sure you can buy stuff and they did bring back rankings, but what you can buy is insignificant and there's SO much treasure required for rank A that it's too tedious to bother.
It is true that Dark Moon rewarded you by giving you upgrades for collecting a lot of money but you will stop being given updgrades after you obtain the Super Poltergust upgrade and instead you’ll be given absolutely nothing after collecting more money afterwards. 3 isn’t more linear and I don’t understand why it’s a bad thing that it is. Why do games HAVE to be open ended in order to be considered great? The first Luigi’s Mansion isn’t anywhere NEAR as open ended as many people lend you to believe.
Also, Dark Moon “rewards” for collecting all the Boos in each mansion aren’t much better......like AT ALL. You just get boring static shiny trophies of Luigi making a different pose and that’s it. You’re overhyping Dark Moons rewards.
I personally massively preferred the variety and amount of content in 3. I think it's solidly the best in the series by a big margin. The first game is quite short and there's very little in terms of challenge or real puzzles; and most of the length of the game is spent doing repetitive busy work. The atmosphere is good and the game is well-made, but that's kinda all LM1 has to offer. 3 adds a ton of real puzzles to the game, blows the visual design of the original out of the water, adds length while massively reducing the amount of repetitive gameplay. Mainly the third game does the puzzle-focused gameplay much better than the original.
I've never played Luigi's Mansion. I never had the desire to play Luigi's Mansion. Not even a little bit. And yet when I saw this video was up I clicked anyway because I knew regardless of whatever the game was, you'd make it fun. I wasn't disappointed. Goob/10 Justins mother approves.
we want a luigis mansion sequel. an unsettling atmopsheric exploration haunted house game with luigi.... not this colourful, not slightly spooky or scary just kinda bland and ott with random things thrown in and called "creative". i want something like the original game where the lore is actually frightening and a breeding ground for creepy pastas. to be fair nintendo was best when there was implications sewn into the games
Looking at the thumb ratio I guess you succeeded in making a lot of people salty. I get the feeling folks nowadays just rate based on the title without watching the actual video.
The majority of people nowadays form their opinion based on the title of news articles on websites and social media, which makes them easily manipulatable and prone to believing in lies, deception and misinformation. So it's not just a feeling you're having, but the state of the world...
Made it tolerable and I actually remember the name of the company. Don’t know what they do since I skipped the rest, but I’m now aware there’s a company called “Salad.”
I honestly thought it was a solid attempt at the formula, though there were huge pacing issues and I think thats the games biggest fault. Also currency hardly mattered in this game, which is also a shame. But I think this game easily has the best puzzles in the series (and gem finding were also really clever puzzles in themselves), the bosses were all top notch, and it was one of the greatest co op experiences ive had in a long while.
14:05 This is what bothers me about the whole series. Most of the ghosts don't seem to be aggressive until they're provoked, many of them are just doing their own thing with some just straight up minding their own business (i.e. the ghost catching up on some reason, the pianist, the sleeping little girl, the director) so why are you busting them!? It makes it seem like Luigi is the aggressor
No piece of media should have the caveat "well it gets good later". If it doesn't respect your time for 50% of it, then it's not worth the time investment to begin with.
Although I kind of agree with you, there will always be some developers who aren’t as good at making an opening as they are a later game. I don’t think that’s necessarily a respect issue.
Honestly I found the game really fun and interesting from the beginning and couldn't agree on almost any point in the video. This game is now one of my favorite games. I also think it's much better and more exiting than luigi's mansion 1 which I found a lot more boring than this game. In the end though everyone has their preferences, so it's not right for me to say that the other person is wrong.
Was going to say that maybe some shows can start slow and then get better later, but then I noticed that slow != bad. A show should have a good structure even in the slow parts. So I might have to agree with you on that point.
Thanks dude! I initially decided against it, but I've gotten quite a few requests for it. If I wind up doing it (I probably will), it will likely be not for awhile, but I hear you man
Their called boss ghosts and there's like 20 of them. They could've had more Ideas for the regular ghosts, but to say they were completely uncreative and had no new Ideas is kinda dumb.
I was also disappointed with the third establishment, but I actually did like the backtracking because it gave reasons to visit previous floors again like the first game.
I agree with this 100%. I'll happily replay a 4 hour, fun game. The length and lack of variety of Luigi's Mansion 3 is killing me. There's absolutely no way I'm replaying this.
I absolutely was not expecting the audio clip from "Dead Flag Blues" by Godspeed You! Black Emperor at 11:59. Before I watched this, I had been thinking about that song for the last week, but hadn't gotten around to listening to it...
I really think each game only really excels at one thing. Luigi Manson excelled at atmosphere. Dark Moon excelled in gameplay. And 3 excelled at variety. Besides that, each game does everything else poorly, or mediocre at best.
18:10 Worst thing about the game IMO (besides money being everywhere but pointless, and the filler combat) is how many puzzle solutions are tedious in exactly that way. When I have to Google a solution it never turns out that I failed to think laterally or be smart with the mechanics; it's just that I happened to use all my abilities except one on an object, and that was the way to get to the next room. Like the plunger or explode jump seems like the thing to move an object our of your way, but no, that requires you to walk over to it and press the interact button. The game is death by a million little annoyances.
I enjoyed this game a ton, but once you get over the charm of it all, you start seeing its flaws. Not only is the ghost variety terrible, the actual act of sucking up ghosts was made vastly easier with the overpowered as hell slam.
I use to come up with theories about how the boss ghosts in Luigi's Mansion died. The rooms/their personally could allow you to come up with a plausible guess
I remember wondering why I never took to L'sM2 as much as the original, but once this came out it hit me. The only reason I liked L'sm1 was because I liked mansions and exploring them. Also the normal people you meet their are pretty cool
Agree 100%, I got bored at like floor 7 for collecting 100% of everything. Then I replayed it like 2 months later not caring about money at all and it was alot more fun, but agree with the ups and downs
So fucking boring and repetitive, an upgrade feature with money would be nice. Ghost keeps reappearing, sometime you have chase shit around because they took a freaking key from you. Mediocre game. The (inspecting every area for coin) got boring really quick, I stopped giving a shit after awhile. I don't even bother hunting the boos at the end, it's basically chasing them around an area.
@@foxysobek8109 Yea but this game took the cake when they made that stupid cat take the button from you and disappeared to another floor. Happened like two or three times, that's just bad game designs.
That sponsor segue alone earned this video my thumbs up. The fact that you kept me fully engaged for the 30 minutes and change run time? It's staying there. It thoroughly EARNED my thumbs up, and I wish I could say that of more of the content I willfully consume on TH-cam these days. I also wish that given more and more TH-camrs are relying on sponsors as TH-cam's Doom-like fervor of demon-etization continues, more of them would find a way to entertain me WHILE schilling the thing like you just did.
Yea one of the things I really liked about the first game is how every room is unique but still manages to work into the overall atmosphere & feel of the mansion. Although I did like the levels after the director's floor in the 3rd game, especially the ghost characters themselves, to me it felt like the themes were being slapped on randomly after that. Like the game was stuck between the idea of being a haunted hotel & a haunted amusement park. The game is still enjoyable & fun imo, but I think it would made the overall environment feel more connected if they'd tried to incorporate the hotel setting much better between floors
I've only played Dark Moon and the original. While I got bored of Dark Moon and dropped it, I couldn't put the original down. Even on the 3DS, it's design and short length gave me a feeling reminiscent of a Metroid game in the sense that I could easily pick the game up and play through it for a satisfying experience. I've heard a lot of good things about the third game and I can definitely notice improvements through the gameplay footage alone, but I think we're still a long way from getting a proper successor to the original game.
eh...I don't get why people love the original so much more it's puzzles weren't as great as dark moon nor was the combat heck even the elemental part of the combat certainly wasn't fleshed out
@@Jdudec367 Portrait ghosts brought more personality to the game for one. Some prefer dual-stick, and/or hate gyro controls for another one. There's nothing like the elemental combat either.
@@jaronmarles941 and your right i's not as hand holdy I just think objectively the second is better atleast in some catergories like bosses puzzls combat and it isn't to short
Honestly the only thing 1 has over 3 is the atmosphere, I would say almost everything about 3 is superior (almost) so I would say 3 is technically better than 1 and although I understand people have opinions and I respect that but I think it’s mostly just nostalgia that makes people like these games more, and I can say that because I’ve been “nostalgia blind” about games of my past and would defend them because I grew up with them, but games can be objectively better than another, even if you had more fun with the original over the sequel that is because you’re not used to this new version and would only want things to be like the original
The multiplayer left a lot to be desired. The ghost variety was there for the bosses, but the generic common ghosts was lacking. King Boo being used a third time was also kinda lame.
@@Daniel328DT I kind of like the fact King Boo is the recurring villain. It gives Luigi his own Bowser, since while Luigi can fight Bowser sometimes, he's really Mario's arch-nemesis. I just finished this game today and I enjoyed how much King Boo has come to really HATE Luigi.
Extremely disappointed, the upgrade was useless for all but maybe two instances, the mechanics were boring and repetitive, the coin shop was a big missed opportunity, the enemy variety is extremely lacking, and whole clear a floor fight a boss thing gets really old after the 4th or 5th time you do it. 18 years after the original released and it honestly wasn't worth the wait.
@@sniff494 Well I wasn't disappointed. The drive to see what the next floor looked like was what made me enjoy playing through the floors. The smashing ghost mechanic, while not looking the best, served its function. The enemy variety was very low but even the first one had very few types of enemys. The way they implement and iterate on them is what matters. To stay in line with the mario series they made it look more like mario and less like a horror game. Its not bad just different. I have my gripes but its not disappointing. I cant wait to see what ghost hunt adventure luigi goes on next.
Boolossus gives 15 Boos, and is the boss of Area 3, and you only need 40 to beat it in America 45 elsewhere. This means you only need to find 25/30 of them. more than 10 of which are pathetically easy. With that in mind, I don't find a problem with them in the first game.
Unpopular opinion: I think neither of the 3 games is particularly mind blowing. Too linear to enable meaningful exploration (apart from tedious collecting) or spark creativity yet lack the speed and action to make a linear ride all that enjoyable. The atmosphere is the best thing, but other games which are hailed for their atmosphere offer far more than that (for example: Super Metroid is after all still a good action game). At the end of the day they aren't more than a bunch of mediocre adventure games.
You know, that's not out of the realm of possibility. Maybe my nostalgia keeps me from feeling like the first game is just alright. I just think that the concept of "what if Mario was Ghostbusters" was a really weird and interesting one, and it was done well enough for 2001. I also feel like a game in 2019-2020 should be able to take that concept and really make it shine as best as it can. At the end of the day, it's all clashing opinions, but I still see hope for the series.
Honestly? I enjoyed it for what it was. Back when I was younger, I still found it to be pretty alright and only replayed it once after the first time I beat it. I actually haven't went back to play it although I probably should at some point.
I haven't replayed the original in near 15 years so you're probably right. I didn't really enjoy 3 by the end I was bored and just going through the motions to finish it.
The puzzle that stumped a roommate and myself longest was the one for the hair salon door. We combed through the mall area for a good thirty minutes trying to find a switch, because the clubs on the sign do not look like fan blades.
What do you think about the 3DS remake of the original game tho? I really like it more than the original for how much stuff there is to get for completionists, like platinum portraits, Rank S, a hidden mansion that is actually harder, a lot of achievements, a better looking gallery in general, better minimap that is aways ar your disposal... I do love all of these things but I do not recommending playing the 3DS remake on the regular 3DS, play on the New 3DS that have that little nub so the game can be more playable (also it doesn't drop fps like on the regular 3DS)
I don’t know if anyone else has said this yet, but something that bothered my brother and I when we completed the game is that you can’t go back and collect all the gems you miss without going back to a save point. Even then you still need to fight the final boss again which was already fairly difficult, and in my opinion not a great boss to end with (because it can poorly reflect the overall experience with the game). They could probably add in an excuse to be able to go back such as, the gems were left behind and to build the hotel again you need them for funding (if they weren’t already collected ofc).
What made me disappointed in Luigi's Mansion 3 was the combat. The first game combat was so fun and satisfying with it's tug of war/fishing gameplay that made all the battles, especially boss ones, so engaging. They were the reward for the puzzles. This game (and somewhat of Dark Moon) seem to treat it as an after thought, which is bizarre since the whole premise is about you catching ghosts. Despite finishing LM3, I felt bored and felt like I had finished it to get my money worth instead of enjoyment. It feels like Nintendo forgot that the puzzles were not the sole reason why people really enjoyed Luigi's Mansion, but they do have Next Level Games doing these games instead of the original team. If there is a Luigi's Mansion 4 (it probably will since LM3 sold well) I hope they look back to the first game's combat and bring it back in all its glory and maybe improve on it. It a shame that with each sequel the combat feels worse and worse. If they can resolve that, as well as the pacing issues you mentioned, and more ghost variety, we could truly have a sequel without the disappointment.
There's actually quite a bit of strategy that can be applied to the combat, especially in the scarescraper. While I'd say the system makes some encounters somewhat boring, I have no clue how you found it worse than LM2's suck mechanic. The slam is much more satisfying and versatile.
I agree. There was no risk/reward when catching ghosts in 3. I loved the tug of war the first two games had. You get dragged around, lose health and coins (that disappear if you aren’t quick enough). It added a tense pace that wasn’t overly stressful but if you didn’t catch them right you lost something. No “hero’s journey” in the combat, could have put me to sleep it was so lack luster.
Yeah and I think in Dark Moon you only needed to defeat 2 Boos. The unnamed one in Gloomy Manor and Boopa Troopa in Treacherous Mansion not counting those caught during the Big Boo fight. In Luigi's Mansion 3 Boos are strictly a side mission and you don't need to capture a single one to complete the game.
The biggest problem with Mansion 2 and 3 is that they are very generic. Like you need to be reminded that you are playing a game in the Mario universe, because the audience can’t dare handle something slightly different. That was the greatest disappointment. Peach and the Toads really didn’t need to be in this game, but they are, and they do nothing but the usual stuff. Get kidnapped and have to be rescued. That is what Mansion 3 is, the usual stuff. Still waiting on Princess Daisy getting involved somehow, yeah, it’s not a riveting idea, but at least it’s something different. Oh well.
Also got gamecube for christmas when it came out. Loved the original Luigi's mansion so much. I was incredibly disappointed that the sequel came out on a handheld. Loot had no point but it didn't stop me from scouring the mansion for secrets to find more..
Man, my opinion is the complete opposite. I didn't play the first game when it was released for the first time and after playing it on the 3DS I was pretty underwhelmed. LM3 on the other hand felt like the game I was expecting after all the hype.

They're like "boss chambers" they caught me by surprise and I was disappointed they weren't puzzle floors but once I came to terms with that, I loved them and thought they helped with the pacing.
kinda like the big boss ghosts from the original that separate the acts of the game?
Evan Corbett Yeah, they’re like area bosses, but for multiple groups of floors
They even have the same motif as dark moon bosses. They both possess objects/creatures to fight luigi, like a giant spider, an armor, a t rex fossil and a piano.

The 3ds version of Luigi's Mansion changes the texture and models to match the modern games theme.

Backtracking on most games is just a good thing to me. 🤷🏻♂️
Same.

@@waywardlaser Thanks!
You pretty much hit the nail on the head for me with this. Was trying to figure out what made me like the 1st so much more.
I don’t know why that damn cat is in the game
Seems like the devs noticed the game is illogical, or maybe it's because the game is designed for little children, idk
Then there is annoying padding.
The original had you wiggling the stick in tons of directions and it just felt so great but with 3 it feels like a button masher.
honestly the controls in 2 wasn't really bad

Mainly the third game does the puzzle-focused gameplay much better than the original.

that's your problem, you can't accept LM3's quality without comparing it to the first for no reason, the first game isn't even all that to begin with
Looking at the thumb ratio I guess you succeeded in making a lot of people salty.

I mean the currency also hardly mattered in the first game so
14:05 This is what bothers me about the whole series.

So fucking boring and repetitive, an upgrade feature with money would be nice. Ghost keeps reappearing, sometime you have chase shit around because they took a freaking key from you. Mediocre game.
It is a rare talent to entertain and shill simultaneously.
9:36 ...But that’s the case in the game. You need 20 to fight the 3rd boss, and 40 to fight King Boo. The last 10 is for extra money.
This ones a good blend, really it traded one soul for another, the original didn’t have that good of animations

I thought lm3 was fine. Not disappointed at all.
Same. I had no issue with it tbh
I really love your own ghost ideas! There should definitely have been something like that in the game, what a shame :/
The games have to be more scary, the first one is frightening compared to these past 2
Boolossus gives 15 Boos, and is the boss of Area 3, and you only need 40 to beat it in America 45 elsewhere. This means you only need to find 25/30 of them. more than 10 of which are pathetically easy. With that in mind, I don't find a problem with them in the first game.
Great analysis! Looking forward to more.
I didn't really enjoy 3 by the end I was bored and just going through the motions to finish it.
garbage opinion
Salt is back!
You're right red flags did go off, and they continued to go off as you proceeded to describe a literal Bitcoin miner, jfc dude
I've been ripping some serious farts in bed and the air burns my nostrils
Nice
I did enjoy the combat in LM2 the most, mainly for the combos giving you more money. Risk reward the first game mainly had in the boss battles.
There's actually quite a bit of strategy that can be applied to the combat, especially in the scarescraper. While I'd say the system makes some encounters somewhat boring, I have no clue how you found it worse than LM2's suck mechanic. The slam is much more satisfying and versatile.
@@hedwyn8803 I just think the ghosts don't put much of a fight. Both 1 and 2 had ghosts that make you trip more.
You gotta admit that the sand mechanic was fantastic. And it looked great
aden kunz if that’s what you had to look forward to deff makes it look weak
@@jamescm38 what? How is obviously pointing out a mechanic they enjoyed mean that the rest of the game is low quality?

A lisa one? nice
"The car's on fire... And there's no driver at the wheel." Oh wow was that a Godspeed You! Black Emperor reference??? I love it!
You only need 40 boos in Luigi's Mansion 1 to heat it. Still too many imo
45 in Europe
Yeah and I think in Dark Moon you only needed to defeat 2 Boos. The unnamed one in Gloomy Manor and Boopa Troopa in Treacherous Mansion not counting those caught during the Big Boo fight. In Luigi's Mansion 3 Boos are strictly a side mission and you don't need to capture a single one to complete the game.
Wait, i love your ghost ideas
The biggest problem with Mansion 2 and 3 is that they are very generic. Like you need to be reminded that you are playing a game in the Mario universe, because the audience can’t dare handle something slightly different.
That was the greatest disappointment. Peach and the Toads really didn’t need to be in this game, but they are, and they do nothing but the usual stuff. Get kidnapped and have to be rescued. That is what Mansion 3 is, the usual stuff.
Still waiting on Princess Daisy getting involved somehow, yeah, it’s not a riveting idea, but at least it’s something different. Oh well.
You only need 40/50 boos to complete Luigis Mansion 1, so you do have some wiggle room
Salt I love your channel.
11:58 Did not expect to hear a GY!BE sample, love it.
Godspeed You Black Emperor reference, nice
Also got gamecube for christmas when it came out. Loved the original Luigi's mansion so much. I was incredibly disappointed that the sequel came out on a handheld. Loot had no point but it didn't stop me from scouring the mansion for secrets to find more..
Luigis mansion 3 is for some reason not a mansion it's a hotel I like to call it hotel mario the sequal
Mabye we will get the game we all wish for in 2030
that godspeed you black emperor reference was so subtle but so good
That's an... interesting way to segue into an advertisement.
Here's my hot take: the LM2 common ghost designs are superior to the common LM3 ghost designs.
Not if you take the best enemy in the game into account.
The goob.
FABLE PART 2 AND MORE TWO HOUR LONG VIDEOS PLEASE!
I second this
thumbed this up for the Godspeed reference ❤️
Man, my opinion is the complete opposite. I didn't play the first game when it was released for the first time and after playing it on the 3DS I was pretty underwhelmed.
LM3 on the other hand felt like the game I was expecting after all the hype.
