I like the kardashev. I like the fact that the lieutenant commander temporal seat is a universal. I could definitely do something with that. Like I could put a temporal officer there, I would use recursive sharing, then I I will use the Ensign and Lieutenant seat for unconventional systems. The commander tactical seat I would use for fire at will, CSV for ETM, and torpedo spread 3. I would only use the science mode for the ship. As for the science seat, I would use regular unconventional system procs for the Ensign and Lieutenant seat, then concentrate Firepower 3 for the lieutenant commander seat, then gravity well 3 for the commander seat
Look great. Stats of the ships are pretty good for sci destroyers. Could be fun for hybrid builds. But the peripherals (traits/consoles) are terrible. Yet another example of awesome work from the art team let down by the systems team. Ya miss Jonathan yet?
I'm just glad they moved the proton cannons to the experimental slot instead of having them as a unchangeable weapons slot that tbh was the worst part of the t5 dysons
For anyone not familiar with Cryptic's Sci Destroyers good explanation at the beginning. I'm not the biggest fan of Cryptic's hybrid starship attempts. Cryptic neuters both sides too much harming the starship overall & there's so many ships nowadays with better focuses. The designs of the 3 ships look really good. Preference is: Rom, KDF, then the Fed by looks alone. Rom is a B5 Whitestar in disguise. KDF has the unfolding guns. Fed has a decent/good look & I like the Kardashev name.
note to self: all the more reason to pick up t5 vesta with the aux cannons even if I can only use them on vesta, I want a t6 vesta anyway. I do hope they unlock the t5'd proton cannons so I can use them on the t6 dyson
The only reason I can think of for them not putting the two specializations on the Commander seats is some behind the scenes inability to switch spec. abilities on the fly. Definitely an improvement on their predecessors in the art department, they are not total eyesores and the Republic one even looks good. That last art... Caitian built Obelisk Carrier? Looks more like an Aspero than a Jem Hadar ship to me, even if the later is the more "logical" answer.
The ship at the end...It looks very Jem'hadar and Romulan inspired. Also, any old materials you have for your ships can be used on the Dyson ships. i.e. Veteran and such
Decent amount of sci and universal seating, 4/3 weapons, 4 sci consoles, and a decent hull and shield modifier. Yeah, it should work nice for sci. There are better platforms, but few are Romulan, and I don't think any are in the Zen store(excluding Mudd's). My rom will be enjoying it.
I suppose it's possible, but then you run into the main problem with Science Destroyers: changing modes doesn't change your loadout. If that seat isn't already a spec seat, you can't slot any specialization abilities in that seat. So even if the specialization seat moves between the Commander Sci and Tac seats, you wouldn't be able to put any spec abilities in the Tac seat.
If both Commander seating had Command Specialisation you could've been swapping that 4th slot based on your configuration, would have been curious to see how that worked.
A change I would to see, is set completion ability for items that are locked away in old evenfs. Found myself more focused on sets and consoles, dof and bof settings. Also found a hudden perk nobody has ever addressed.
I may revisit my drain duelist build. It may change out one of the meh drain ship trait. It was never really effective againts more then two. It did help using sub targeting then use etm immediately after activating sub target.
I recently considering getting this bundle. But going to focus on my Ronulan and Klingon purchases first. Apparently not many play Romulan or Klingon, I hope to change that.
Ships look cool. But consoles are weak and starship traits nearly useless. The idea of using the secondary shield as an energy reservoir for proton damage is a good one, but the numbers are so low, it doesn't even make sense to try. At first glance, it seems to me the systems designer confused the values for ground and space.
Also, I applaud Kael's approach of the teaser sneak peeks. I wouldn't mind a newer Obelisk but I definitely see a Dominion look at it as well. Another good art design shining bright. I'm still disappointed they didn't show-off the Rom tactical mode too. The new Dyson consoles & traits didn't impress me but I see what you're saying about the synergy between them. So far I'm probably going to skip rather than buy.
Drain and sci-destroyers seem to go hand in hand. My drain ship is a section 31 science-destroyer. Choosing between an experimental weapon and systems analysis/secondary deflector is wonky. I find myself dipping in and out of both modes.
I know I won't get the whole bundle. But a single ship? As someone currently rocking a T5-xx Romulan Dyson, I'm tempted, but I don't know if it's worth it. I don't get more console slots, I only fly in sci mode so the experimental weapon doesn't matter. My build treats winter ice abilities (that all proc proton damage) like specialist seating, so I don't really care about added specialist abilities. The only bonus I can see is one more weapon slot, and more space barbie options. I wish they told us if it's got better hull or anything compared to the OG ones. Oh. And looking now, I can see that the Romulan one uses a warp core rather than singularity. So that's a bit better right? But is it 'spend money' better?
The thing that strikes me as a little odd with these is to do with the design language; obviously the original Dyson ships had a lot of purple in them, so its understandable that they'd want to include purple in the designs of the T6 versions. But since the release of the original T5 versions, STO has done a lot to make us associate purple with Intel specialisation. Not only with the Intel abilities having purple icons, but with Starfleet specifically, as from the release of the "Firewall" feature episode in 2021 onwards, Starfleet Intelligence NPCs have also wear purple as the division colour on their uniforms, so I see the Kardashev and my brain goes "That's an Intel ship", and yet its the only one in the bundle that has no Intel seating whatsoever. So IDK, maybe these should all have been intel ships, or at least had Intel seating. At least we'll be able to customise the purple off the Kardashev, but yeah, after years of associating purple in STO with Intel spec, it's very surreal to have a purple Starfleet ship that isn't Intel. As for the ships themselves, ehh, they're kind of interesting, but I'll probably wait until either the bundle is in a bigger sale, or if I have some extra T6 coupons that I don't know what else to do with. The reclaimable EV suits would at least be good for new toons who haven't unlocked or progressed the Reputation system yet for the Burnham EV suit.
A shame the opportunity wasn't taken to do something new / interesting with the Sci Destroyer class - of having each spec on the Cmdr Sci and Cmdr Tac, with mode switching changing the primary & secondary spec along with spec specific special abilities (Molecular reconstruction, Intell array, Inspiration abilities etc). But really just needed a couple common sense changes to the BOff layout to make them more appealing - 1. have the secondary spec on the tac seat (even if only up to LtCmdr when swapping mode), 2. Lt seat - sci, Ens seat - Eng. So only locked to Ens Eng. But if you don't know how to build ship seating with the current state of the game in mind (or don't want to) .... we get locked tac LtCmdr/Cmdr and Lt Eng on a sci ship (even if a Sci destroyer).
I think these ships are really good for ones from the store. Being fleet level right away is great and having dual spec, with a full spec and lt. commander spec seats like this is very rare (at least for none anniversary ships from the store). As for the traits and consoles, they look really disappointing and not likely to be that useful, but this is also fairly normal for store ships like this where the ship is what you are paying for and the extras are often kinda lackluster. Hard to say they are completely useless without testing, but I don't have much hope for them. The experimental weapon at least looks interesting. Overall I think all three look solid and are quite versatile for a number of builds. Like was said in the video, the seating isn't 100% perfect with the lt. engineering seats and the second spec being on the lt. commander universal seats, but this is often the case even for more premium ships. At least for DEW/Sci where you are probably running two Emergency Power to X abilities anyway, the engineering seat isn't terrible. So yeah while I do wish the extras were better, I think the ships themselves are strong.
both the commander sci and tac seats should have intel, but only have the intel skills aviliable in each depending on which mod you are in. so in standard mod you have a lt com tac set, and com sci/int set, then when you switch to tac mode you go to lt com sci and com tac/intel. That way both modes can use a commander intel skill.
So far I'm not impressed with the Loh'lah as a pure Surgical Strikes build with 5 Isomags, but then again I do not have the SS Trait extender and all of the high end universals. I do have the 2 piece flagship set with Domino and DPRM, though. From a looks perspective, it's really good looking
If these ships had 1 more tactical & 1 science console slot. But only active during mode, similar to seating. * cannot slot Universal console * That would make the mechanic more interesting.
I was skeptical of this bundle, since the Dyson destroyers from 10 years ago were kind of gimmicky and underwhelming. These seem like a lot more fun now that we have more sources of proton damage. Back then, protonic polaron beams also did proton damage, so maybe its time to get a bunch from the Dyson rep to go with the Pavho and Dyson 3-piece reputation set.
You don't have to chose for this year's event campaign. You get the two coupons, the choice of premium ship, and the 1500 lobi all together when you complete it.
Yeah, Science Destroyers just have the standard Science vessel mastery, which make tac mode even less desirable as a main focus for a build than a normal Escort.

Как ни странно в последнее время( уже несколько месяцев) довольно неплохие эвентовые корабли выдают! один знакомый даже расстроен, потому что эвентовые корабли СЛИШКОМ хоршие, для эвентовых кораблей!))))))))
Okay, my Ferasan is meowing in anticipation, has been flying that T5 Destroyer since it came out. Is it a good ship? Well, it can hold its own but is of course outclassed by many. Is it a fun ship to fly? Hell yeah. I will be fighting hard over whether to use the Klingon ship of this set - normally I don't do cross faction flying (except for getting starship traits). Not a big fan of command personally (never really got the hang of it except for torp heavy builds, I very much prefer intel and temporal) and as you say, Rom version is so much better looking. A T6 Obelisk would be enjoyable for one other toon which is flying the T5 version as well (boght with dil, that event was before my time I think, or I missed it as I did with many in the beginning). Now add a T6 Bulwark to the mix and I will be dancing. (Yeah, I am a sucker, once I had a character fall in love with a ship it is hard for me to switch to something else, however shiny it may be)
I like the visual designs but the consoles and traits do nothing for me and I have pretty much never changed modes in the ships that do it so it's a pass for me, even for tokens.
STO continues to excel in disappointment. Total crap and 100% unimpressed with the newest, new, new direction they are taking [cleaning out the garage of rejects past].
Really disappointed with the ships, and definitely with the stream last night. The consoles and traits are horrible, except for a niche set of players. Another thing is , and wasn’t mentioned here, is that in order to do any kitbash, you need to own the T5 ships. Apart from the looks of the ships, I have better Sci ships and platforms for DewSci or Scitorp builds. Only thing in the bundle that is worth anything is the T6 coupon. This for me, as it is for many, is a soft and hard pass. Another thing is a lot of Proton lately but very few proton weapons out there. Really need Proton arrays, duals, cannons etc. to make use of most of the latest consoles
The Terran Hydra Intel Destroyer and these new Dyson Science Destroyers are very different ships. Hydra is basically a variant of Escort type ship, so it's very Tactical focuses and is best suited for weapon focused builds. These new Dyson ships are Science Destroyers, which are very different than normal Destroyers. Science Destroyers a type of Science ship, but feature a mode-change ability to turn into a set up that's more Tactical focused, on that's almost like an Escort. The idea is that the mode change allows you to change between a pure Science ship, which typically rely on more on anomalies and other exotic damage abilities, and a ship that's more reminiscent of an Escort, which are typically more Weapons focuses. But because this mode change doesn't allow you to change your hole loadout with the switch, it requires a Science Destroyers to be very versatile. This is doable, particularly with the Specialization Seating on these ships, but it's a very unique set and isn't for everyone. If you like the playstyle of your Hydra, you probably could set up a build similar to that on these ships (more so the KDF or Romulan versions), however it would really work best only while in the Science Destroyer's Tactical mode. Relying on a Science Destroyer's Tactical mode can be frustrating because if you die or deactivate Tac mode, it has a 1 minute cooldown, which is very annoying to deal with. So the best way to set up a Science Destroyer really is as a Science build that has some Tac focused mixed in to it, like a DEW/Sci build. So if you're interested in exploring more Science focused builds, these could be an interesting pick-up, but if you prefer a more traditional Escort style of play, stick with your Hydra and maybe try out other Escort type ships (the Atlantis is quite nice).
@@Stu1701 thanks for that detailed info. I normally run a torp build on my hydra. I don't have enough of the spatial annomalies consoles. I just have the basic grav and rift from the bridge officers.
10K Zen?!?! Just when I thought my disappointment couldn't get any worse. Such a shame to see the T6 Dyson ships get butchered so badly. The Art team nocked it out the park with the designs and animations but the Consoles and Traits are just..... bad. Guess this is one bundle I won't be getting and shall stick with my T5's. They took the Unique Proton Cannons and turned it into a Experimental Weapon, even though we have a better Proton based Exp. Weapon. The only Semi-decent thing about the consoles are the 2pc bonus, scaling Proton damage. The Traits are just as bad; Shield, Shield, Shield. The Shield system needs an overhaul, a complete one at that. These Traits/Consoles act like they are for Shields shown in the TV shows, where it is a case of 'loose them and people die'. In an age of STO where hull strength can reach 200K a Sec Shield of 2~3K per 20s is a joke.
I am a quite disappointed by these ship designs, as the old designs were so beautiful and different from the standard designs. These barely look any different from the usual faction ship designs. I hope that we can at least use the old designs as skins for the new ones. The old designs were quite strikingly similar to the White Star ships from Babylon 5, which is one my all-time favorite science fiction series.
Sad Bridge Officer seating + lackluster consoles and absolute horrific starship traits make me pass on this bundle. Can't find the positive in there unless we talk Space Barbie... For todays T6 ships they are not competitive with other recent released T6 ships.
I read the news page entry for this bundle before seeing your video. From the news page I felt the ships themselves were fine even though the Science / Tactical Mode switching was pointless to me. The description of the traits and consoles didn't have a good impression. Seeing your video filled in the blanks with more details on the consoles and traits. Overall?... First impression is meh. Reasons: 1. I have T6 Verne Temporal Science Vessel on Acct unlock already. 2. I bought the original 9-ship DSD pack back in the day and they were not good even for the time. 3. Science / Tactical Mode IMO is a waste. Making good Science or Energy Weapons or Torpedo Builds requires a lot of dedication to make either one of these worthwhile. Making one good makes the other two worse. This was a simple fact I ran into when the DSDs first came out a long time ago. 4. The Consoles and Starship Traits shown in the news page and your video failed to make a good impression on me. 5. The bundle extras look awful. 3 old items that have are ancient as hell. They're so old that they predate T6 and Delta Quadrant Content. Dyson Sphere content was new. Dyson Rep was the newest Reputation. It's just old and obsolete. The Dyson costume can be easily had from Fleet Holdings. There's better EV Suits out there. Once again, just as with the last pack, not enough tokens are given to take all the pack's ships to T6X2. Cryptic repeatedly fails in this yet again. For a veteran player like me the pack is awful. I won't spend money on it but I do have a bunch of T6 100% coupons sitting in my bank. I'll likely blow 3 of them for this for collection purposes. The bundle extras are nothing to worry about when breaking a bundle up. They're worthless.
Traits are terrible. For Sci Destroyers should be Temp command and lt. Cmd. Command. Bad design. Don't know if it would be worth purchasing. I might wait for the free T6 coupons and purchase with those 6 months or so from now. No one uses drain anymore.
Update: an additional T6-X upgrade token was added to the bundle, so it comes with 9, enough to T6-X2 all three new ships. Additionally, the old T5 Dyson console set has been unbound.
Second Update: The coupon and T6-X upgrades are all unbound.
The bundle's price has been confirmed to be 10,000 Zen with a 25% off sale at launch, meaning you'll be able to get it for 7500 Zen until May 16th.

I tried all three and the Klingon one was my favorite 🤷♂️
I would've hoped for at least a new UPGRADEABLE proton DHC & turret(s).
i looked at them and went "what, that's it??"
i was hoping for an updated ancient carrier... it needs a T6
(Yeah, I am a sucker, once I had a character fall in love with a ship it is hard for me to switch to something else, however shiny it may be)
DOES THAT MEAN I CAN HAVE 6 FORWARD WEAPONS ON THE DEFIANT?
nothing has 6 forward weapon slots. that would be horribly overpowered.
Shame you can't take the proton cannons from the old ones for the new ones.
I’ve got a coupon I’ll use for the romulan one
Is it just me or are they lackluster? Art was good! Design specs were awful!
I like the visual designs but the consoles and traits do nothing for me and I have pretty much never changed modes in the ships that do it so it's a pass for me, even for tokens.
Bort is back and we're gonna be in trouble...
STO continues to excel in disappointment. Total crap and 100% unimpressed with the newest, new, new direction they are taking [cleaning out the garage of rejects past].
Imagen being DPS competitive over such a low impact peace of gear as an EV suit XD
A step between stars
Having to own the original ships to use their skins on later versions is standard practice in STO. That's nothing new.
i like the way they look but given the reviews they probably won't replace my hydra so i'm iffy.
In an age of STO where hull strength can reach 200K a Sec Shield of 2~3K per 20s is a joke.
keep in mind, that is just the bundle price. each ship can be purchase individually as well for 3000 zen, like any other c-store ship.
I am a quite disappointed by these ship designs, as the old designs were so beautiful and different from the standard designs. These barely look any different from the usual faction ship designs. I hope that we can at least use the old designs as skins for the new ones. The old designs were quite strikingly similar to the White Star ships from Babylon 5, which is one my all-time favorite science fiction series.
you are in God mode people who cheat should be banned
MBOGA. Make Beam Overload great again!
Beam Overload is fine. FaW is the one that need the help.
Buy 1 ship all buy
This is a Bort special bundle 🤣
Reasons:
Underwhelmed. By the ships, consoles, and traits. All very mid. An ok gimmick but not great.
Yep I dont understand mecanic .
Wait, the upgrades are bound to account?!? nevermind, skipping this bundle, I have a ton of them from phoenix events and was planning on selling them.
