I’m glad I listened to this episode. I’m a U.S citizen now, born and brought up in Oman, in the Middle East. And let me tell you, the slavery and racism is real. My dad has been told to his face that Indians are good only as slaves, nothing more, despite him being an engineer. We’re also from India, btw. Companies throughout the Middle East are known for hiring Indians, bringing them to the respective country (use Qatar as an example) and then just stealing your passports and keeping you as indentured servants.
I'd read smth similar about Filipino maids, but Indian men seem to be the largest group by far in the Gulf Arab countries. I'm curious - the horrendously slavish conditions and racism must be well known in India, so what makes Indian workers migrate to the Gulf Arab countries rather than anywhere else?
Yep, kinda sad I’m in a state of subscribing because of them and unsubscribing because of what the hill as a whole posts sometimes. I wish it was just them doing their objective journalism.
I’m a veteran who got out of the service in 2014. The veterans affairs process for health benefits is night and day difference now compared to then. This guy is overlooking that accomplishment that happened under the trump admin whether youblike him or not, when he says that the tax cut is the only thing he got done.
He is not being truthful ... Trump did so much even as he was interrupted by the Democrats with the Russian hoax and impeachment. They resisted from day one. Trump made us energy independent, he gave tax cut and this guy says it was only for the rich .. Im going to go ahead and say that that's a lie. I am not rich and I benefitted. He had prison reform that helped a lot of people who went to prison for years for minor offenses. Trump kept us out of war, the stock market went up a lot Anybody who said that the election of 2020 was a good election are either lying or an idiot. You don't mail millions of ballots without verification and mail them all over the country and have voting going on after election day or receiving ballots up to 12 days after election day.. The give away was when he claimed that Biden is going to run again in 2024 .. Biden won't last out the next 3 years.
I’ve noticed energy independence is the biggest thing people refuse to acknowledge about Trump’s accomplishments also. Nobody was emphasizing how nice it was see gas as cheap as it was in the 90’s again, especially when it stayed that way year-round. Now everyone’s bitching about $5 gas but the average person who didn’t actually pay attention to what Trump did, thinks it’s because of Russia/Ukraine. Not many people realize it’s because Biden reversed everything Trump did for oil production on US soil and then took it even further. I really hope the war ends ASAP (obviously mainly because wars are terrible), in part because if there’s no war late this summer when $10/gallon gas is here, maybe people will become more aware of the real causes of it.
@@boyerindustries so why if it has nothing to do with Ukraine and the war do you want it to continue so that the gas prices go up? Why are you so dumb, just stop expressing your opinion because it’s embarrassing. Do you get it?

Saagar has the most infectious laugh, it's so goofy and just uninhibited. Man I wish I was that smart and comfortable in my own skin...it's amazing that he is both those things.
Saagar Enjeti is probably one of the best guests you've had on to date man, his understanding of history and the workings of the American political system makes for a fascinating conversation
He turned out to be wrong though. Trump was just as impressed by the history of the White House, but he got used to it over time. He talked about it in the Rogan interview. He actually does know history pretty well, his favorite book is All Quiet On The Western Front and he's a big fan of Andrew Jackson. The idea that the guy is anti-intellectual is all wrong. He just doesn't flex it constantly because its actually just not that effective in politics. Could even be detrimental if one comes off as pretentious. I think Saagar got it wrong about him only living in the moment too. I think he has an ability to do that when necessary but obviously the guy can plan. He's had political ambitions for a long time before he ran for office. He's able to set aside anxiety and doubt when necessary and that's a great quality for anyone taking risks in business or politics.

Most of us are a combination of values. But yeah I lean right nowadays. Joe Rogan, Elon Musk, geohot, michael malice, Tim Dillon can be categorised as right leaning in today's climate. So I get what you are saying.

The way that Saagar talks about U.S. history is so exciting. You can tell how genuinely passionate he is about it and I can't help but feel the same. This podcast made me read the Years of Lyndon Johnson and I am so glad that I did. I'm on the third book right now and this is quickly becoming my favorite series of novels. I can't get enough of it and I'll be really sad when I finish it. I'm really hoping Caro gets to finish the series. I noticed there's not a lot of video content that discusses the subject matter in Caro's books and I'm honestly surprised. I want to do a series of video essay documentaries on my channel that covers what's in the Caro books. It's hard to do it justice because of how good it is but I will definitely try. Thank you guys for this wonderful discussion.
We've known this was coming. Well, at least I have, for 20 years. And I'm a bumb dumb, so that means that those who don't see it, don't want it. It's crystal clear and if it wasn't before, it surely is after 2020 hit. Plutarch has this passage about Caesar's uncle. It's very interesting, and familiar.
Thank you so much for the time stamp list. Really useful. This adds value because I can go right to the topics that most interest me. Then I wind up listening to a lot more.
Saagar is an impressive student of history and politics. He's not just an anchor person but a dynamic thinker with curiosity and an open mind towards those whom don't share his beliefs. It's important to see 'civil debate' without hatred or bitterness. Thanks Lex & Saagar.👍
Saagar being a total nerd about the oval is exactly what I resonate with. I would be freaking out on the verge of tears just being in there. I love both of these men for their genuine curiosity and this is what makes truly great conversationalists and journalists. ❤️
Awesome. What i like about Saagar is that even after you hear he's the "conservative" side of the Hill, and watching it every day you really still can't easily put him in any particular category. Not that you should look at people like that anyway but some people almost demand of you that you do. Thanks for having him on, should be interesting getting to know more about him.
He's more attuned to the economic reality of policies on regular people than either the politicians or corporate think tankers making them - and he's prepared to discuss the decline of the middle class (and the inexorable drain of wealth away from the 99%). As near as I can tell, he's the only one on the 'conservative' side even having that conversation.
Lex, thank you for having such valuable and meaningful conversations in this era full of misinformation and relativism. It’s pretty cool that whenever i tune in here, i a) learn something useful, b) am exposed to thought-provoking ideas, or c) am inspired/instilled with a little hope.
I love rising but you gotta also look at all news outlets to get a better understanding. Watch CNN and FOX critically, there are always grains of truth on both sides and they also show the hypocrisies of both parties
@@andrewhopkinson8736 yeah, i guess i can understand Lexs enthusiasm/love for working/creating/learning/honing skills etc., but he's mentioned before that he regularly goes without enough sleep. that can't be good, there's a reason that most creatures sleep & for however long is necessary.
Lex your awesome, thank you and your guests for speaking out about some truly difficult topics. I loved history my entire life, my brother and I used to spend our summer breaks watching the History Channel hoping to learn something new. My love of history and learning are stronger than ever which is how i found your Podcast and several others who deal with the truth no matter how unpopular or difficult it is to do so. In regards to what Saagar and yourself said about the World Wars I feel as if ya'll are taking the easy way out. Never except an answer that is fed to you especially when its force fed and beaten into your brain the way the main stream's version of the wars has been in every western school for over 60 years. Please watch a video or two on that or any other subject on Mr Robert Sepehr TH-cam channel. Mr. Sepher does not provide all the answers and the ones he does have may be wrong, you will walk away knowing what questions you need to ask. I would recommend you start with the Creature of Jeckyle Isle followed by Invading Antarctica: Secret South Pole Colony. There is real evidence proving both are at least based on fact, Operation High Jump the US's secret Invasion of Antarctica is still Classified Top Secret or above even after numerous freedom on info act requests have been filed on it and subsequently denied. If you only ask yourself one question I hope you ask why a botched supposed scientific expedition conducted by a US Navy Aircraft Carrier Strike group lost half its aircraft, at least one Destroyer, and sustained numerous casualties in 1946 is Still Classified even after the government released the JFK Assassination files that happened 10 years later.
Lex: *in a Boston accent* “as if I was a kid 30 years from now” at 2:31.33 Boston has had quite the impact on you Lex! You’re becoming one of us now lol
My great-uncle was Eisenhower’s chief speech writer and best friend (Kevin McCann). I’ve met him and his wife, my aunt Ruth, many times but he passed away when I was young. I would have loved to pick his brain as an adult. Main question “What’s the truth about how the government REALLY works?” He would know. That conversation would be fascinating. When my grandmother passed away, the political pedigree paraphernalia was the the main thing I appreciated being willed to me. Fascinating convo, as usual, between Lex and Saagar. Lex has a brilliant inquisitive mind (stating the obvious).
From the first time I saw Saagar on a youtube news channel, I absolutely like him. His personality resonates with me, and I love his energy and boldness!

@@juliequinn2538 Chomsky is on the left. I mean lex is interviewing people in the technology field where if you look at their Twitter you can tell they voted democrat. So it's been a wide variety on this show and lex is pretty humble and would try to understand both sides. But to be fair, it's not really about politics it's mainly about technology.
He interviewed Jack Dorsey as well
Most of us are a combination of values. But yeah I lean right nowadays. Joe Rogan, Elon Musk, geohot, michael malice, Tim Dillon can be categorised as right leaning in today's climate. So I get what you are saying.
I like lex because he actually lets his guests talk. He doesn’t interrupt them, he doesn’t lead them, he isn’t overbearing.
I'd love to see a callback of this guy to hear his insights on how things are now.
You can watch breaking points and he does have a lot of monologues. But I agree with bribing him back.
1:40 now that Biden is gone…
this introduction is exactly why I have so much love for you Lex! When I first heard you on JRE i was NOT a fan, however by the end of the episode I couldn't help but see all the similarities we have and how much I really do love your mind as a human. I feel we should all be able to coexist peacefully if we subscribe to love the way you do
SAAGAR!!! MY DUDE!!!!
Big fan of Enjeti, really reasonable guy who rejects group think.
He's a good egg
I don't think that's true. He is so deep into group think, that he and followers don't even realise it. It may be not democrat or republican, but it's the American Social Democrat ideology without original thought.
He literally is in the populist group lol
@@realy7392 maybe give an example? Lol saying he and his followers are so up their own @sses they don’t realize it without giving an example or two is half an argument.
sucks he gets so overshadowed by Krystal because she is a pretty girl
Saagar is the goat fr
A complete list of books Saagar recommends would be awesome!
Update: there is now a list posted on his Instagram
has no one done this yet
Could you please cut and paste the booklist to these youtube comments for those of us who refuse to have an instagram account?
@@susanm5692 Its a pic :(
Check out Explorers Podcast too, he shared it on twitter before. It's great!
Solider by Anthony Herbert is one of the best books on leadership I have ever read.
Is there a way you could list out the book recommendations for each podcast going forward? Saagar recommended so many I couldn’t keep up ha!
Yeah I had this problem too
i've tried to avoid being an inevitabilist but it seems impossible to avoid
lol
delightfully amusing!

That there could be a new joe?
Lex, your intro was absolutely perfect.
Thank you so much for the time stamp list. Really useful. This adds value because I can go right to the topics that most interest me. Then I wind up listening to a lot more.
These two are changing the 🌎 . Thank yall for letting us listen...I can't believe this shit is free for everyone to hear. Keep rolling boys!!
That's the best thing about podcasts.
Is it wrong that I haven't even watched this yet but already hit the like button?
yes
Yeah but you do you
Meh supporting lex isn't a bad thing.
Noooope!! I did the same thing. Zero doubt this will be an excellent conversation between two men in dapper suits.
Love saagar but never heard of lex before, absolutely love this podcast now can’t wait to watch all the old content thx for this!!
Enjoy. Check his visits on Rogans podcast. There are a few. Interesting dude.
Lol, I laugh every time I watch the one where they talk about the breakaway tie, any Lex claims he could evade the choke. Bro love all the way.
One of the greastest pods Ive ever listened to
Awesome. What i like about Saagar is that even after you hear he's the "conservative" side of the Hill, and watching it every day you really still can't easily put him in any particular category. Not that you should look at people like that anyway but some people almost demand of you that you do. Thanks for having him on, should be interesting getting to know more about him.
I don't know how old you are, but he reminds me of how republicans were before Reagan.
These two really synced. One of my favorite conversations you've shared, Lex!
Lex, thank you for having such valuable and meaningful conversations in this era full of misinformation and relativism. It’s pretty cool that whenever i tune in here, i a) learn something useful, b) am exposed to thought-provoking ideas, or c) am inspired/instilled with a little hope.
2:35:07 my favorite moment of this podcast lol
I really loved this one please do more on history and politics 🙏
Very possibly my favorite podcast of all time.
This is awesome, glad Lex decided to have Saagar on his podcast.
Wow! Epic, can't wait to listen to this one. Thanks
Lex you are motivation to me...can you get Steve Kaufman on the podcast... He is a polyglot and an interesting fellow
*Steve Kaufmann*
Great conversation with two great guys!
I just found this podcast I would like to see this podcast made in July 2022. It's all changed so much. You all are brilliant.
This is the first time I listened to a whole full podcast from Lex
Me too. Took a week, but……..
The only politics show I watch is The Hill.
Definitely
same
No Agenda is a good show that breaks down a lot msm nonsense.
I love rising but you gotta also look at all news outlets to get a better understanding. Watch CNN and FOX critically, there are always grains of truth on both sides and they also show the hypocrisies of both parties
Who is “they”, all rising viewers? They don’t believe in science? That’s quite a presumption buddy.
Lex looks seems to be much more confident compared to 1 year ago. Really cool to watch him get better at podcasting. Not that he was ever bad at it.
Confident.... and sleepy.
I love seeing two of my favorite people together!
This randomly played on my recommended list. That was a good interview. Wasn't expecting that.
Thanks for the amazing conversation! Saagar is a G!
Lex, this is an awesome podcast and I love watching you grow! Keep up the good work!!!
Ive always been impressed by by Saagar on Rising but holy crap...."National Greatness"......This man needs to run for office..
He is indian
Easily one of my favorite episodes of Lex
Pod just gets better the longer you listen. Hope there's a follow-up
This guys Dan Carlin impersonation is spot on.
You, Rogan, and Breaking Points should make a streaming service
I wish every podcast was like this. Well done, guys.
I would LOVE a follow up to this now with everything going on!
Excellent podcast lads!
Never heard of Sagaar before, but he's brilliant and infectious...
This is like watching two dudes who meet at work and become instant friends. I've watched this episode like ten times.
Sagar was such a suprising and intresting guest.
I'd love to hear this conversation again with the context of all that has transpired in 2021 & 2022.
Always blown away by your intro Lex. Love it!
This is one of my favorite interviews yet. Keep up the great work!
Only made it through the intro and already liked
Lex: *in a Boston accent* “as if I was a kid 30 years from now” at 2:31.33
Boston has had quite the impact on you Lex! You’re becoming one of us now lol
i found your channel this month. Starting to share your conversations with other. Thank you for what you do.
Lex, PLEASE consider having Ezra Klein on your show. The topics explored around 1:40 is basically the idea behind his book "Why We're Polarized."
Just discovered you through this episode. Awesome! Can't wait to stream more while under my welding hood! You make the work shift fly!!
Two of my favorite young people to listen to. Thank-you for an enjoyable 3 hours that educates.
Love this guy, hard to find sane political commentators these days. Cheers!
You guys are inspirations. So intelligent.
Hey my two favorite new guys on the scene doing a pod together. Dope.
Great interview! I've been a fan of Sageer and enjoyed hearing more of his passion for interests and what shaped him.
Love your stuff Lex, great work!
Love this youtube channel! These are exactly the conversations my friends and I would have if we were more intelligent and better educated.
And more insightful.
😂😂 same here
This podcast is the only time I’ve really appreciated Saagar. This was such an amazing conversation.
This is great. I learn more from this podcast and others about how the world works than all of my 20 years of education put together.
Such a good podcast!!!
From the first time I saw Saagar on a youtube news channel, I absolutely like him. His personality resonates with me, and I love his energy and boldness!
These two have great conversation.
