As someone who’s done this before Great job! Using that pattern is ideal as it hides the lines well. It does help to have a second person if you tackle anything larger. But the only advice I could truly give is if your happy with the job and you would like to make it permanent put a quality coat of clear epoxy. Easy to do and you will be amazed by the results. Says you can set a hot pan on it but I still avoid doing that.

I'd suggest putting the whole 1st pcs.on the front ( opposite S yours) and put the seam farthest back towards the wall. Because more than likely you'll put stuff on the. Counter against the wall and doing it this way you'll have stuff covering the seam.farther back. If the seam is like yours it's in the front 1/3 and visible.

This pattern design is great! First it looks natural and elegant by itself; secondly it helps making a "seamless" finished look, even at the corners. And thirdly, it matches your floor perfectly! :)

I think I bought 6-8 rolls of the counter top! I had extra and was able to play with it and learn how to use it. And I only bought two packages of floors I believe!

I actually sold my pop up, but it worked super well for us while we had it! I honestly think that even if you get a tear it is so cheap and easy to replace it wouldnt be a big deal to replace! :)
I would try and put any seams towards the back of the counter where there is less traffic.

They held up great while I had my pop up! We sold it because we are moving to Alaska! Once I am up there I will be getting another 😊💕
I am obsessed with your make-over!! I'm pretty much copying everything lol. I've hit a snag though..how did you do the contact paper around the sink and faucet? I'm trying to do it in as few pieces as possible to avoid seems, but I see no way around it? Any tips??
That was difficult, my husband helped me a bit with that. I just used the heat gun a bunch to really stretch the dx fix into place. And then I sealed it with some clear caulking to make sure the water doesn't get under it, if you use a color close to the DC Fix that could also help with the edges!
You did a great job and I really like the butcher block paper. Is there a company that has the butcher block paper wider? I see a lot of other colors wider but the butcher block is not. Thank for any information.
I think I purchased the widest one at the time, but I bet there are even better ones now!

Why do you use the heat gun on the paper once it’s down? Does it make it stay better?
Yes it does seem to make it stay better, it also helps it lay down nicer. You will find that the edges are harder to work with. Adding a little heat helps a ton.
🤔 It's either this, or one of those graining tools + multiple coats of paint. The smart choice is made obvious, when you look back in history, to the magnificent, gargantuan American station wagons of the 1960s - 1980s. Many of them came with long, wide strips of wood grain contact paper running down their sides, from bumper to bumper! It was apparently durable enough to use on cars exposed to all weather. Granted, wood grain finishes are great around the house, but they REALLY struck gold when they put it on cars! 🥴😉
For the life of me, I can't figure out why they stopped spreading it on cars!? Just imagine a new Ferrari or Porsche, even a Lamborghini, with tall strips of contact paper in a beautiful shade of dark, knot-filled mahogany running all the way down the sides of the car.... Maybe a lighter shade of pine running over the roof and hood! I'd personally paint the rims in a brown, pine-cone pattern! What could be more sporty and modern?? 🤪
How exactly did you do around the sink?
I just measured and trimmed. We also caulked around the edge so no water gets through!

Does anyone know.... Can you put anything on top of it to make sure it doesn’t rip or tear anywhere? I’ve tried this put it always knicks and tears in little spots..
I have seen people seal it with a clear coat! You would probably need to put a couple of coats. Have you used this specific brand? I haven't had any issues yet, and I have only heard good things!
A question. Is there a reason you didnt just use the heat gun to heat up the vinyl to stretch it around the corner? Instead of cutting and stuff.. 🤔
I do stretch it, but without the cuts I just can’t get it to lay right. Let me know if you find a better way though!
@@laurynejuneprojects1443 I just did this on a round table. Used a hair blower to heat it up slighly, it streched pefectly around and under. I suggest u try it 🙂
I want to do marble but I feel like the seams would be more noticeable.
Have you thought of maybe painting and sealing? I have a video going live tomorrow for painting tile! Maybe you could use the same idea for counter tops!

I totally would :) may be a little harder to handle as they tend to blow more air, but that would work!
How is holding up?
I had zero issues with ours! It was fantastic. I actually sold it a couple of months ago but I'm sure its still doing great. The awesome thing to remember is this stuff isn't too expensive, and isn't very difficult to install, so if you do have an issue (maybe a tear) I think it would be easy to fix!
