Love how this shows the shift between 1939/40 France (Pre-Occupation) to 1942/45 France (North African Campaign with the Free French, Invasion of Italy, Op Dragoon and onwards to the end of WW2). Would have been intresting to see the Vichy French though
There is a couple of error like with the RSC M1917, if the clip is empty it should fall by itself but overhaul it's a pretty cool recreation of those beautiful weapons !

Both bazookas are innacurate in the game! The M1 needed a battery to be fired which i guess they've left out for the gameplay on purpose. But the rocket on the M9 bazooka is an old M6 model that had been cut off of production, since on the field it tended to deflect the german armour due to it's arrow shaped warhead. By then the rocket should've been the M6A3 with a rounded warhead.
@@krillova The Chauchat was one of the first automatic machine gun cooled by air that was design to be used by a limited crew and with the possibility to move around easily as it was design at the beginning of WWI (introduced in 1915) where most automatic weapons used were heavy machineguns with water cooling systems. Having a slow fire rate was not really a problem because it was one of the first fiting the role of a support light machine gun + a slow rate of fire means better recoil control on the massive 8mm lebel it was shooting. France produced a lot of them and, even with his flows, it shined in the french military for the new abilities it gaves to soldiers on the battlefield.
The MAS 36 and MAS 38 were perfectly adequate, modern and reasonably effective guns. France lost not because of their small arms, which don't often matter that much in the grand scheme of things, but due to poor doctrine.
MAS36 was a good rifle, Berthier rifles and carbines were good, the Châtellerault MAC 24 was as good as its other lmg counterparts of the time (ZB26, Bren, DP etc...). Really the issue was that there weren't enough of them made because small arms development was quite slow for us in the interwar period, so we ended up using a lot of outdated stuff to fill in the gaps. Still the newer guns that did see service (MAC 24, MAS36, MAS38) were perfectly adequate.
The FM 24/29 was the best mg of his category, better than the BREN ( lighter, better magazine, had a front grip that act as a monopod with a MAS36 for anti aviation purposes) and a predecessor, ZB-26 was made after, the BREN also. Just an underrated awesome gun.
Very mixed bag of stuff from the pre war French. Some excellent some old and outdated just like their tanks and aircraft. Poor doctrine and rigid tactical thinking did not produce success on the battlefield even though the french troops were brave and generally well led at field level
Its a ashame the french army was outdated gunshy despite them having more and more modern tanks than the germans they didnt have radios bad officers and bad ww1 era weapons but also remember 3% of the french male population was dead or mamed and the maginot line was a waste of money

You know that the French had relatively modern weaponry by that time of the war right? The weapons from the late 19th to early 20th century are reallocated to second line troops Also, Bethesda has much worse designs than whatever the frogs designed
I mean, a lot of their stuff was quite modern and their tanks were heavier and better armed than the German Panzer IIs that made up the bulk of the Wehrmacht's armoured contingent The problem was that their overall strategy, and tectical doctrine was pretty outdated

My only gripe with squad 44 is that there is no staged reloads for the rifles, you would shoot one bullet and reload an entire clip afterwards

Why does the model shoot the pistol two handed? I thought point shooting and "duelling stance" were the most common drills at the time.
