As someone who has lived in a townhouse with condo fees for 3
Years, it depends mainly on your condo company if you will have a good or bad experience. Our condo board isn’t strict so we can do our own gardening, have as many pets as we like, have whatever we want outside for decor etc. but many are strict and can make your life a living hell. If you’re going to get a townhouse, try and get one with a backyard or garage!
So far tho, we love the community aspect townhouses bring, ours has a playground so my kids have many friends near by and we are happy with the amount of space we have.

I like the idea of condos/townhomes but two things put me off. One is disputes, it’s almost inevitable you will struggle with someone in the complex. The other is management. Large complex’s you can lose control with condo fees going up like crazy, or a lack of fees which can lead to maintenance issues. With small complex’s, it’s a drain having to be a board member, always having to compromise. If someone can stretch to a small duplex, it’s better way to go.

I can't even begin to express how spot on this is. I had to sell my home because the kids in the complex were becoming wild every evening and doing stuff like playing hockey in a garage that's attached to homes beside it. People suck. All it takes is literally one neighbor to ruin your life literally. I now rent a condo and it's significantly quieter and if it gets loud I'll just move. Selling my home to get away from neighbors was one of the most stressful experiences of my life.

Great video! I’ve been looking to move into a place with more square footage. I’ve watched quite a few of your videos and find find them very helpful. You are really good at putting the complex purchase of a home into perspective. It also helps that your cadence is quite soothing. Thank You 😊

Sorry for the change in topic but do you wear a bald cap? Where did you get it from?

Freehold townhouse sells are not good. Can give examples of some builders who are hardly able to sell the townhouse

I strongly considered a townhome when i was trying to get out of living in apartment condo, its getting bigger and next level of affordability. But the restrictions kinda held me off , decided on another condo but beltline to be closer to work and save more and go detached home.... Hindsight meh decision.
When i looked at townhomes and talking to friends, you got to be careful on the bunk townhome in the complex. Like one friend said they had theirs connected to some transformer or utility and every once in a while maintenance services had to get access to their attic or something. Sounded horrible.
Yeah even in alpine park, they cramp these units in and dont even live on regular roads , you can see amazon and services struggling to find the place.
Cochrane or that just a bit north seemed really appealing but that one highway in is so atrocious for traffic...

When you buy condo/townhouse you are not the owner in reality, the board is. They almost tell you when and how many times you are allowed to take a leak or dump per day 😂. Gosh I hate them and I'm glad I don't have to deal with them.

I got told to take down my ring camera over my garage (I have a brand new vehicle and we all know how bad theft is) because it didn't match the other dilapidated inferior lights. What a joke
