What happened to Midfield is disgusting. I know people that were displaced. A lot of retirees took the savings and bought their trailer there. That was their retirement. The compensation was not enough. Most people’s trailers were not in good enough condition to move and they ones that were could not find another trailer park to move to. The city offered owners compensation but the owners had to pay for their trailer to be demolished and once they paid for the demolition they had nothing left. Imagine purchasing a home and literally losing it with zero dollars coming back to you you literally may as well have went and burned your cash. It’s disgusting.
If this arena get built by private moany I don't see where is the problem but if they use our property taxes to built the arena I am against that. We need better project then building Arena like Subway transportation under the or ground extend the ALRT to the north and the South.
If CMLC is involved, it will be very delayed, and over original budgets... Another major project that they have been "cooking" is the Anderson Station TOD project. It's been stagnant for over 15 years! Vancouver has a number of these but Calgary can't seem to turn a stone? These are awesome types of mixed use projects, and are amazing.
"The NE does not get the new project", yeah right, at least the NE got a ctrain line. The SE is really the forgotten corner, it gets nothing there for decades.
@@ChamberlainGroup New highway to SE, new Ctrain to SE, more shopping center, etc... The only Costco that is available to SE corner is the one in Heritage, which is like more than 30 mins of driving away if you live in Seton or further south communities. If you take a drive to W or NW, then take a drive to SE, the difference is like day and night. To W you have 17th AVE straight short drive, to NW you have that nice Crowchild with minimum traffic lights to stop along side the Ctrain line. To SE? try to take a drive through the narrow one lane Orgden road, it's like a third world there especially at night, many street lights are broken you could hardly see through the road, or the only other choice is the Deerfoot which is like a parking lot during commute time. Over many years, SE has not received a major infrastructure upgrade at all. You may also tell from the house prices in between the NW and SE, a nicer and bigger house in SE is averagely about $100,000 to $200,000 cheaper, for the reasons mentioned. The city really needs to catch up on SE so it does not fall further behind for a healthy balanced development of the city.
Interesting update but so many I am not sure's, I guess, I would assume and I would think. So either the City is providing little information or specifics are not available ...
This channel is GREAT! but the major one missed was the HUGE DE Havilland helicopter factory being built by Strathmore. That will effect Calgary much more than the VIVO renos!
It’s true in the sense that it’s a big project, however this video was city specific and based off of the article. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment.
I think the city makes good money from the NE collects lots of taxes from densely packed neighbourhoods and spends the money on the NW and SW. Not really fair and shameful in this day and age. As for the concerts in Edmonton, I think that is a good thing, let Edmonton have them, it gets people to visit Edmonton and help that city's economy, Calgary doesn't have to have everything.
Hi. I went back and forth of this video several times to find out this woman’s name. Please introduce her instead of just saying writer from the Avenue magazine.

Is the new condo going to be? 😢

Extended ctrain or subway could be great
The area around the new arena has been an absolute disaster for the last two years for traffic. Now we have two more years of disaster traffic.😢😢
Plus Green line is a joke ~$6B tax payer money for six stations

LOL! The green line… RIP 🪦
☠️
There are two big empty land/area in the east village area by the green. Do you have any idea what will come to the place?
I don’t at this moment but I think we should look into it.
15 min cities is ringing a bell!
All the big stadium shows are in Edmonton too. From U2 when they toured last, to the recent Mötley Crüe/Def Leppard and Metallica shows, etc.
"The NE does not get the new project", yeah right, at least the NE got a ctrain line. The SE is really the forgotten corner, it gets nothing there for decades.
Interesting perspective, thank you for sharing this. What would you like to happen in SE to help that quadrant?

I predict when they finally build the green line, it would cost 60B$ and shortened to one station.
😬

It’s hard to always know exactly what is happening as only so much information is available. Thanks for taking time to comment!

This is good topic, just knowing whats going on and being aware. Thank you
You’re so welcome. Thank you for watching.
That arena isn't going to be completed by 2027 lol
Let’s hope? 😂
