  • This is not a permanent fix so long as moisture keeps finding its way in, but can help you enough to know the issue and how to resolve it momentarily.

    Thanks for your video. Never had issues with our camera, but we recently had to make an 18 hour round trip on miserable, wet mountain roads where the roads are wet because road maintenance uses a lot of liquid salt brine solution to keep the ice off the highways. By the time we returned home the camera quit working. Lots of corrosion in the housing. I ended up taking it apart right to the camera lens. One thing to keep in mind, though that others may appreciate hearing: After I put the camera together, I connected the wires and hung the camera like you showed and tried it out and it worked. So I put everything together and mounted the camera. No problem until I tried the camera again only to find the camera is upside down. 🤨

      Great video, thanks. I replaced mine with your help. How can I tell if my camera is upside down, it shows a small part of my license plate, but the rest of what's behind me, so I think it is. Would someone please confirm?

    I had that problem with my kia forte.Took the camera out but couldn't take it apart to dry out any moisture.Took my heat gun and heated up the metal housing to dry it out.The camera started working, siliconed where any moisture could get in.Three weeks later still working perfectly.

    im driving a kia k3 cerato, i have the exact same problem, in reverse its all black, my camera looks exactly like your too.. this video does help me to understand the wiring and i guess possible cause.. for my case its rather intermittent, most of the time it blank, sometime, it works. i did notice weather had something to do with it,
    strangely at time when its really hot it works, and at time when it rain, then it works. i was pretty sure it was the wiring but from your video i can confirm, it seems moisture is the culprit, ive been wondering about this issue for close to 2 years, thanks for sharing...

    Thank you for the video. I am having similar problems with my 2012 Sorento. Is there any way to troubleshoot the wiring to the mirror to determine if there is a damaged or shorted wire or if the screen in the mirror has failed?

    • @sigma4079
      @sigma4079  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you are welcome 😊. there's two i could think of to troubleshoot the wiring. one is to buy a new backup camera and see if the stereo shows any image in reverse or not. if not than you know its either the stereo which is highly unlikely or faulty wiring. the other way is a bit extensive and requires the removal of the stereo so that you can access the camera wires in the harness. than you need to use a multi meter to do a continuity test from the reverse camera wires at the trunk all the way to the camera wires at the harness. ofcourse this also needs you to have a wiring diagram which should be easy to get online for the stereo harness. hope this give ya some ideas 🙂

    In my case there was no water inside, but only because the gap was so large that the water evaporated. The unit stopped working because it was hopelessly corroded inside.

      if you are successful at pulling it out of the trunk the rest is easy there are 4 screws on to the cover u unscrew those and a secondary cover is inside it held by two screws thats it
