Our Fig Tree Journey Begins

Welcome to HOME RIGHT. Our FIG TREE adventure begins. We take you through our process of how we ordered the fig cuttings, how we propagate the figs, as well as up potting the figs before we moved them outdoors. And finally, how things are going now with the fig trees.
We have 9 different varieties of fig trees. LSU tiger, LSU gold, LSU Scott's Black, White Madeira, Kadota, Violette de Bordeaux, Conadria, Brown Turkey, and Phil's select.

The fig cutting addiction is real lol…I indeed up with over 100 cuttings lost a lot but had a lot more success..nice video

I planted a Brown Turkey last year & one cutting from it this year along with four Celeste because these do well in Louisiana. I plan to try another variety or two. But since I ordered these...well who knows what they`ll turn out to be. The Celeste trees have leaves that look like a maple tree or mulberry and I`ve never seen figs with leaves like these four. But they`re clearly fig trees of some kind. The Brown Turkey leaves look familiar though. Waiting to see if it makes fruit. It`s a large, wide bush already and growing very very rapidly.

We completely agree, the leaves are so different for some of the fig variety. It is amazing. We don't have a Celeste but our Conadria seems to be growing rapidly. It is similar to what we are finding with our sweet potatoes, with all the different varieties, with different leaves and different colors. Thanks so much for watching.

Hey, I’m in Liberty, NC and on the lookout for new varieties to add to my collection. I am still pretty new as well, but have around 60 different varieties. If you ever want to trade your doubles/triples, let me know. This has been so much fun.

@@homeright Do you know of any fig growers in our area or have you only found some neighbors with figs? I know that there are a couple of guys in Wilmington but would love to find some closer. Thanks, in advance. Are there any varieties that you are coveting right now and can’t wait to add to your collection? I do have a Croatian variety that a friend’s father brought to this country many years ago. He calls it Zimica. Anyway, I love it but don’t have a frame of reference for comparison. Regardless, I have some saplings that I have rooted from cuttings if our paths ever cross. My best, Greg
