I can't thank you enough! I too watched several other videos and read several articles which were all useless and the code was never where they said it would be. I was desperate and time was short because I'm leaving on a trip and my husband was going to have to go pick my car up from the airport and I only have one key. I also had to use the butter knife to gently pry up the large console piece but it worked perfectly and the code was right where you said it would be. I have a 2012 Ford Escape that I've literally had for 8 years and never used the keypad because I never had the code which was never given to me when I purchased the vehicle. Even when I locked myself out right after I bought it, the dealer brought me a spare key (which I've since lost) and never bothered trying to get the key code. This video was fantastic and you are my hero for posting it.

I just purchased this used ford escape truck yesterday and the keypad code was not with it. I searched on Google and your video popped up and I went step by step following you. It worked perfectly. My phone fell inside and I almost had a heart attack but It didn't fall far. I was trying to take a pic so I wouldn't have to get down there. Thank you so much! This really helped!

Just a heads up. If ur lights, the keyless entry lights,come on and stay on. Change the battery in ur key fob. It's the alert to tell u ur battery in ur fob is low. Its in the manual as well. Hope this helps someone. Ive had 2 fords. 2002 Explorer and 2013 Escape

This was so helpful, Brett! I bought a used 2011 Escape a while back and it had the card in it with the door code. But the code has never worked. Then I decided to do a search on ways to fix this and found your video on how to find the factory code. It occurred to me after seeing your video that perhaps the card I had didn't go with my vehicle, and sure enough, when I took out the center console and found the factory code, it did not match the card I had. There was never anything wrong with the keypad and my keyless entry now works perfectly. Saved me the time and money going to the dealership. Thank you so much!

Just had my 2011 escape for 2 weeks now. Saw the door key pad and thought I may want to use that feature. For sure was not going to go to a dealer because I didn't want to pay that kind of money. Thanks friend! I was able to get this done in under 15 minutes. I did struggle to get the top console frame to pop off but I finally did and nothing broke. I just bought this car a couple of days ago, it's a 2008 and like brand-new. Thank you for the help.

And I think a previous owner had removed the center console bin - that confused me for awhile. But I now know my code - so THANK YOU! just bought a 2012 XLT secondhand and was very excited about the keypad, most difficult part about following this tutorial was just getting the damn piece off. i was wondering why you needed to put the vehicle in neutral but quickly realized the shifter gets in the way lol. i'm just glad the previous owner never changed the code :P also, thanks for showing me where my ebrake was, i was wondering about that lmao

I’ve got a 2012 escape with the ambient lighting add-on. Am I still able to pull up center section without damaging the lighting button or lighting in the cup holders?
@@elsiekniffen986 hey not sure what you’re trying to do but if you’re trying to pull up the center plastic trim like in this video, you can do so without having to unplug the lighting bezels! There’s enough slack on the wiring to pull the trim piece free

OK I found another way to get a peek in there. That code is on the back side of the fuse holder which can be viewed from the drivers side kick panel . That panel is located by the drivers right foot has 3 screws holding it which can easily be removed and the panel be pulled out far enough to get a camera in there. Thanks very much for this video... I subscribed.

Dude this video is a Life Saver as we all know the "owner's wallet card" is almost always MIA along with that second key... ask me how I know? I got three used Ford Escapes 2-2012's and 2011 all V6 and love them, that placard is way way down there just snap a photo with your phone then right down that code on the page with the instructions on how to change the "keycode". Tip-of -the-hat!!

I don't know if they were custom installed (I bought the car used) but I'm afraid to take out the whole center covering because I don't know if it's going to rip out the lights... The car did not come with the factory code, I searched everywhere, but is this the absolute only way to find the code? There isn't another way?

Considering the Hybrid system would be out of warranty by now it could be a risky prospect. Even refurbished hybrid batteries are $2500, not to mention finding a place qualified to install it.

I just bought a 2008 Ford Escape Limited . I tried this but could not pull up the plastic console by hand and finally decided that it would probably crack if I used any tool on it. I think that the only safe way to see in there would be to drill a hole in the side and later plug the hole with a rubber plug.

I absolutely could NOT get the larger piece up and out like that even pulling upwards in the same spot and manner as the video showed. Did not want to break the console … pulled up as hard as I could. Watched it several times 😢

It won't... This is only for the 08 to 12 bodystyle. They are in a slightly different spot in that body style. I haven't been able to do that model year as I have not been able to get my hands on that year with a working keypad.

You have to be careful. Once you pop it off you must disconnect the ambient lighting before removing it completely

Does this also work with a 2010 mercury mariner premier with the lights in the cup holders?
Yes, but be careful when you lift the center console up you have to disconnect the lights and the Ambient light controls I think.

You can easily unplug the ambient lighting hookups. They are quick disconnects.

It pulls out. There are clips. You have to pull hard as they are tight clips.

I changed the code and it works, but so does the original code! How do I delete that one completely so I only have one, new, secure code?
You can never delete the original. It will always be with that car/truck. You would have to completely remove the body control module

Only Necessary if you "Don't" have the owners manual. If you have the manual the code is on a card in the back of the manual.

I am not strong enough to pull the silver center console. I tried pushing up from the bottom and wiggling from the middle. HALP!!!

The center console piece can get stuck between the dash and the shifter. Makes it a lot easer to get the center console piece out.

You can find someone with a code scanner IDS I believe. So you had the center console off and there was no sticker on the back of the fuse box?
You can look it up by the cars vin number go to a website with a vin decoder the 9th number of the vin number is the code.

It won't... This is only for the 08 to 12 bodystyle. They are in a slightly different spot in that body style. I haven't been able to do that model year as I have not been able to get my hands on that year with a working keypad.
I called my nearest dealer and they were being some a holes saying they couldn’t help since I didn’t buy it from them 😒
